I’ve enjoyed the Quest Paladin archetype since SoA came out, especially with its highly favored matchup against Control Warrior. However, decks that are aggressive and can build a wide board early on present a big problem with the deck’s weak early game. After removing the greediest cards and adding some anti-aggro tech, I’ve won about 70% of my games starting at rank 5. This deck will still easily crush CW, but now has the survivability to win the aggro matchup.
Key additions:
Subdue x2: This card is no joke, and has won me several games. It acts as an unconditional Execute, and your opponent will never play around it. Can help you win the board early or deal with problematic cards like Edwin or King Crush.
Mind Control Tech x2: Another care that your opponent will not expect and play around. Can swing the board state early and as a bonus helps you win the mirror matchup late game. Nothing like stealing your opponents King Crush or Siamet to seal a game.
Khartut Defender x2: Most lists I’ve seen only run one copy, and this is a huge mistake. This guy is an exellent target for your hero power, and singlehandedly wins games against aggro once you get a copy chain going. Ancestral Guardian serves this purpose as well.
Cards that didn’t make the cut: Truesilver Champion, Candletaker, Undertakah, Bronze Gatekeeper. These cards are either too low tempo (Truesilver, Candletaker), too greedy (Undertakah), or pollute your Crystology pool (Gatekeeper, which isn’t enough vs aggro anyway).
Strategy is fairly simple, mulligan for Crystology and your cheap reborns, use your tech cards to stay ahead on board. Make sure you’ve stabilized the board before you start activating your win condition and copying your mechs. When I lose with this deck it’s generally because of bad mulligan RNG, as I’ve found most matchups to be pretty favorable across the board.
How do you manage quest shaman with it? hit rank 5 with a similar list, but mct keeps either fucking up my board or castrating my board presence
Nice deck is good 56% wr!!
what about -Kangor's Endless Army +Da Undatakah?
In my Experience this deck locks down the opponent pretty quickly and doesn't need the Undatakah as a win condition. Personally i prefer Kangors seeing it also returns eggs/whelps and allows for a reset of your heropower target. Persoannly i'm toying with taking out Snip-Snap instead
a-ma-zing deck. OK, I wasn't that high (rank 8), but I just can't seem to be able to lose! Thanks mate!
Crap deck
I'm not sure Kangor's Army is the best in this deck. Getting back micro mummies with no magnetics or the 1/1 tokens is really painful. However my win-rate is pretty good! In fact the only decks that can beat me are aggressive decks, I've lost to Beast hunter and Token Drood.
some people seem to not like it but im 4-0 against singleton hunter, 2x quest rogue and a cyclone mage. been a really fun deck even beat the rogue without drawing a single crystology. Really fun too just making tons of 2/2 eggs and whelps, i wonder if it needs a little more draw other than the crystology but im not a good deck builder.
Edit: went from rank 12 to 10 so maybe the decks down there are more aggro so its performing better?
this deck is pretty low when it comes to reaching from 3 to legend. I would rather play classic reborn than this one! -1. sorry but. I went 40% win rate on rank 1
I still don't get how people get legend with this. It's like i played 200 games, got to rank 2 once, but after that everything goes sideways. Bad draw, opponents topdeck, meeting alot of priests, and even losing to warriors because of no reason. I just don't understand. And i play really well, had a few people spectating that went like wtf this bad luck isn't fun..
Same here. After few games had either not enought of reborns fast, or after quest was complete just deathrattle didnt come.... or when it did once, i was under pressure already.
That's my issue with pulling Candletaker. You run the risk of not completing your quest in a timely fashion.
This deck is so great! Works on leader around rank 5 really well. Best thing about this deck is how it works against warriors! I am 9-1 so far, only lose was with quest shaman after really long game.
My first win streak in weeks. (on rank 15!) great deck, very straight forward.
I too like the quest Paladin. I run a version with 2xsubdue too but I am struggling against all aggro decks. Will definitely try this one thanks!
10-0 so far with this deck.
