If you are looking for something original to play, I'd suggest giving this deck a shot. I created this deck this week, and went from rank 15 to 9 with it. How it does past rank 5 I can't promise, but it does well against basically every meta deck at this point for me.
Plays like typical tempo mage, build a board, protect it with explosive runes and counterspell. It's a lot easier to trade well and maintain the board with the 2 damage fireball hero power.
Eventually you may lose the board. Finish him off with your hero power like a hunter player.
Mulligan for Mana wyrm, secret keeper, a secret, and Kirin tor mage (in that order). Turn one play secret keeper or wyrm, turn two kill his play with your hero power, turn three Kirin tor mage plus secret. If you are against warlock, Harrison Jones is a massive swing card and a must keep.
Black cat and fungalmancer are also ridiculously good cards.
It may not be odd paladin levels, but this deck is at least as good as other tempo mage variants, and is more fun to play, as it takes more thought to know when to use your hero power or play an extra card. Plus, I get people adding me a lot to ask me about the deck, because it's basically the only odd mage on ladder right now.
Have fun!
I love the Even / Odd decks, the less common the better!
I tried many combinations but somehow I forgot to make a Jaina/Baku alliance. So thank you for reminding and giving me ideas!
Good deck idea. Odd mage doesn't get any love
than replace Harrison Jones?
Gluttonous Ooze for weapon removal or Acolyte of Pain for draw. Choose for what you're facing more often, ooze for cubelocks mainly and acolyte for paladin decks.
Harrison is actually a great double purpose card, but I would say the card draw is more crucial than the weapon removal.
