Kinda tough to make this work without knowing all the cards. It sucks how many good even cost spells the mage loses when trying to make the Black Cat work haha.
They still have access to Flamestrike. The goal is to just build tempo with elemental cards and ping their enemies. I obviously have no idea how this will work yet haha, but I guess we'll see.
UPDATE:
I said they needed 5 mana help, and Bonfire Elemental comes along. That honestly fits perfectly. Still need an odd spell or two to make Black Cat more useful haha (although it's useful enough from the draw a card battlecry).
Final update (for now)
I will be trying odd mage on the legend ladder on Thursday night and probably throughout the weekend. I will be tweaking it until it is perfect. At first glance, I see it probably really needs some kind of silence removal (especially since we can't use Polymorph).
I really think there's potential here. Once I have the build finalized I will recreate with an actual guide (assuming the deck truly works haha).
I will be streaming this deck (and other odd/even experiments) Thursday evening under Anatak15. Come hang out, let's make odd and even decks work!
I tried this deck the first few days of the expansion (two months ago already haha), and it just couldn't keep up with even paladins and cubelocks. I kinda forgot about it after the nerfs, but maybe it could work. I still don't think it would fare well against some of the good decks out there right now (no polymorph to fight Hadronox, most notably) but maybe it's got a chance. Maybe I should revisit the deck a bit haha.
No Death Knight!?
I really don't know haha. I know the death knight gives an extra win condition at the end (especially in an elemental deck). I'll just feel sad to build my deck around odd cards for upgraded hero power, only to give up that hero power halfway through the game lol.
I honestly probably will end up throwing it in. I just want to see how viable it is to just live with the 2 damage ping for a whole game first.
I think you should run both. The Death Knight can be a good plan B in case aggro bursts you down too quickly
