They call him "Blackwing" because he's a black dragon...... and he's got wings.

play blingtron get doomhammer the dream
This card is fun to play + animation is one of the best in the game .
Too bad that is probably slow and will not see too much competative play .
Plus it is random :/
no, even onyxia is often better
Neptulon is an 7/7 for 7 mana, this is unplayable at 9 mana just like Onyxia. Turn 9 is too late to play a card that is a BGH target and dont have an immediate impact on the board. This card should be a 5/10 for 7. As a 9 mana 8/8 this card is worse that an Ysera. I would love to see this card in action, but it sucks that has too weak stats.
Everyone compares this to Yesara but one thing people don't think about is that with Yesara you either have to pull it or craft it. Nefarian all you got to do is unlock Blackrock and win. I believe this one is better just because it's more easily accessible.
Yesara ftw!
With this logic, a crappy used economy car is better than a sports car just because it is more accessible.
Mind control hype
If the spells were free, that would be a card
9 mana for an 8/8 body and 2 card draw? Value.
This guy is supposed to be the final boss of Blackrock, right? If so, he's super disappointing; his ability isn't very interesting or good.
Very true, however, Neptulon is 2 mana cheaper (granted overload, but still 2 turns earlier to play), he gives you FOUR cards instead of two, and unlike class-specific spells, which can sometimes be absolutely useless in certain decks (ex. Deadly Poison, Shield Slam), the murlocs you get are always threats.
too good especially against like mages and priests as you could get really good spells and even if you can't play them with the same turn as Nefarian you can always play them next turn
As far as constructed goes, if you're paying 8 or more mana (9 and 10 mana are even stricter since you can't hero power that turn) the card has to win you the game by itself. Alex does this as a win condition, Rag can win or get insane value (he's like an 8 mana deal 8 damage and trade a card 1 for 1 if removed right away). Nefarian while cool is a disappointment because he does not win you the game at such a steep cost. An 8/8 body isn't worth skipping a turn and spending 9 mana, Giants are good because they come out quickly. Neptulon and Dr. Boom can get away with board setup because they are turn 7 plays, a turn you're much more likely to live (turn 7 hits before druids can combo, warriors can combo among other classes). At this point of the game you can't afford to skip your turn. Ysera also wins you the game if unchecked with a better body.
Yea you draw 2 cards but you'd be better of with ancient of war as a druid, and non weapon or armor classes make this neigh unplayable if you get blade flurry or shield slam among the sea of garbage spells. With it's inconsistanty and steed price removal is a problem for such a fragile body. BGH ruins your day because you skip your turn to get nothing but card value and lose insane tempo, losing dr boom or neptulon to bgh doesn't let them drop thier own dr boom the same turn, they can only drop a 4 drop with the BGH. In Nefarian's best case scenario a 6 drop will follow, it could be piloted sky golem, high mane or fire elemental and you're just so far behind in tempo by then. Even if you draw amazing spells with him you lose more tempo playing them, neptulon nearly gaurentees 1-3 drops.
I love the card concept but the stats and cost are very poor. I would have liked them to make Nefarian a 7 Mana 7/7 (still in BGH range) so he'd be comparable to Neptulon or ancient of lore since you don't get to pick the cards, the 7 mana drop slot needs more good cards. If he is kept the way he is he needs to be at least an 8 mana 8/8 to be considered playable. At 9 mana he'd have to be a 6/10 (different body than other dragons) while drawing an enemy spell from a random pool of 3 spell cards similar to tracking at end of turn effect, similar to Ysera's but different enough. (which also follows the boss fight lore better, you gradually change class to class ability over the fight).
imagine playing this card against a hunter and getting 2 Call Pet
I dont think this would be anything but a fun card to play which is not a bad thing but my opinion is that his potential and consistency is pretty lackluster.
9 mana for 2 spells (that could be something like totemic might and frost shock) plus the body of 1 giant without the option of being combo´d with argus or sunfury in the same turn is not very competitive, the battlecry is not even close to thoughtsteal because that card gets a card from the oponent´s deck which is usually filled with high quality spells and creatures so from the competitive perspective is like a huge gamble with a not so good reward.
I have hopes tho, for this card to get in the hands of ppl like "HysteriA" that play the really weird decks with crazy combos and keep creating the crazy plays i love to see on trolden and hearthfunny.
I love this card. People talk about BGH but people can only have so many BGH. Where as you can have like 5, 7 or more attack powered minions.
Unless you're running Warrior, what is the merit to running 5+ 7 attack minions? Do you want to deliberately lose to aggro? Even in Warrior, this card doesn't have a place.
I don't care about value, I care about the design of the card and the fun the card can make. I play things like this and I still win against aggro.
That will be a BGH that won't go to your Dr. Boom or other dragons.
