Hearthstone History - Neutral Commons
Professor Noxious delves deep into the Hearthstone archives again to pull out artifacts from the past. In this video, Noxious goes over the history of Neutral Common Cards which discusses old cards which never made it into the final game, and all those fun card changes we've seen over the past couple of years.
I actually havent heard anyone say they have had fun yet playing brawls. Also this comment is just a comment towards a silver xcup
Nice video. Ty
Looking forward to the next Tavern Brawl. I hope it gets more balanced than the last one.
New patch oh boy oh boy -- looking forward to its contents getting data-mined.
I enjoyed the first week of Tavern Brawl. I was fun to discover strategies using new decks/new cards/new classes(!).
If I were a betting man, then I'd bet that the second week is going to require players constructing their own decks under a certain rule set (up to four spells, or something nutty like that).
I hate where theres no rogue deck on popular decks of the week
Anyone notice that EVERY SINGLE ONE of those popular decks except the Control Priest and the Grim Patron Warrior includes Dr. Boom? Yeah. Are Blizzard EVER going to nerf that fucker, or are they just going to continue to be completely retarded?
Remember when Ragnaros the Firelord was complained about so much? People asked for nerfs left and right but Blizzard didn't budge. Now, with the release of new content, it seems that he's BALANCED? WTF?????
As content gets released, cards will balance themselves out. Only those that make releasing content difficult will be adjusted, as was the case with Starving Buzzard and Undertaker.
Isn't that Team 5's philosophy? Seems to have worked with Ragnaros the Firelord, so how about you have some patience so the game grows nicely.
To be honest, I don't think that's going to happen with Dr.Boom and the reason why is because with Ragnaros people adapted by playing cards that countered him (like BGH). With Dr.Boom there really isn't a single card that counters him. As it stands, unlike Rag, there is no downside to playing Dr.Boom.
The other thing is, at the time people complained about Rag, the meta was much slower and people hadn't yet learned how to play HS for early-mid curving. Today people pay MUCH more attention to the early game and will generally have more low mana stuff on the board, which inherently made rags instant 8dmg atk less devastating. In the old days people basically ignored the early game more and played bigger minions that cost a lot of mana and when Rag would snipe that minion, it would be a crushing tempo loss. Again, Dr Boom has no draw back in being played vs a low mana curve board because his boom bots will often each kill a small minion. I really think Dr Boom should see a minor nerf.
Okay everyone, this is a perfect example of reading comprehension problems.
"As content gets released, cards will balance themselves out."
"there really isn't a single card that counters him"
"as content gets released" <-- key phrase, meaning future.
"there isn't" <-- bad rebuttal, because it's only concerning the PRESENT state of the game.
just like with Ragnaros the Firelord, you have to WAIT for content to get released to show that Dr. Boom is in fact balanced card.
You're logic is that it's fine for a card to be unbalanced because there might potentially be a card made a later time that indirectly provides a counter? That is stupid and your example of comparing Rag to Boom is stupid because counter cards like BGH existed to counter Rag in the first place. By your logic, nothing ever needed to be nerfed because instead of fixing it, they could just introduce cards later... sounds like a legit plan brah.
Besides, it's going to be a hell of a lot more difficult to counter a minion that provides 3 bodies, 2 of them with highly unpredictable deathrattles. I can just see it now, Super Game Hunter : Battlecry - Silence all enemy minions, Destroy a minion with 7+dmg and also deal 1 dmg to the minions adjacent.
You just countered your own argument. Cards like bgh existed yet people still complained about rag. You can't think so small about cards. One day one cards seems op, but after some tinkering people figure out that "hey, this isn't bad" and unfortunately move on to complain about something else instead of thinking proactively.
Team 5 tests their cards internally before releasing them. Look at Ben Brodes video about card buffing. I'm not going into a dr. Boom discussion because there are hundreds of threads about him. Look at my thread "counter that card," there's no end in sight because that's how card games should be, a never ending battle. There shouldn't be "one card to counter another card."
Reading comprehension... Sigh. "Only those that make releasing..." I said my point about nerfing. If you want to continue this we should move it to PMs or through game. Let's not clutter this news post with this :)
So in other words, unrestrained power creep is the answer...?
People bitched about Ragnaros because they were overrating him. He's good, but he's not overpowered, nor is he an auto-include in every single fucking deck. Dr. Boom, on the other hand, IS provably overpowered and IS an auto-include in nearly every single fucking deck, as this list shows. They're not comparable at all.
:/ you're saying people over reacted to him even when they posted facts like "auto include in every deck" and literally every argument used against the good ol doctor in different shapes and forms. But somehow dr boom has clearly different arguments right? "Immediate board threat? Minimum 2-8 damage even when removed? No really counter to his effect?"
i just don't get how you two don't see that what happened with rag is what's happening with boom. And as metas and cards shift, so did rag's position. You have absolutely no idea, what so ever, what new content will bring to the table, when someone would make a deck that nullifies 7 drops, or how that time and again blizzard dones the least amount of card changes past open beta because IT ALWAYS WORKS OUT. Stop looking for instant gratification on a never ending game, and look for the possibilities of the future
This will keep going back and forth which I just pointless. Nothing we say from here on will add to this topic. I'm walking away from here. If you're serious about balance talks then PM me. I'Ve said all that I can here.
Just because it sucked for you doesn't mean it sucked for everyone else. Lots of people hate sushi but that doesn't seem to stop buffets charging 15$!!
Wow, that Mech Warrior looks fun! Happy to see some more variety in the decks (even if Patron and Tempo Mage still make it in XD)
We should still be in the launch event, so you'll get one card pack for your first win.
We don't know yet. Blizzard hasn't made any official announcements.
