Good on them trying to get Affliction to work in this game
To be good it should have been "Your opponents gets an 'abyssal curse' for each minion killed"
Yeah dude totally. Clear the board for 6 mana and make them get 7 curses and take 28 dmg at the start of each turn unless they casually spend 14 mana. That will definitely make it a bit better.
Wish it didn't board clear. It would have been an interesting counter to spell damage shaman or Mozaki mage that didn't kill you YET!
Just by playing a single Murloc Tidehunter, it buffs +3/+3 the other murlocs you are holding. It's already great value, you don't need to go crazy by filling your whole board with murlocs to get value from this card. Remember Imprisoned Scrap Imp, it was only +2/+2 and was nerfed.XD Wrong card
Oops, apologies. Great card btw lol
What you're describing sounds like "decent" to me. It's not X-1 damage which would be top tier, it's X-2 like Flamestrike, Consecration, or Holy Nova, which means it's typically outclassed by other AoE.
That doesn't mean it's unplayable though, and the curse might outweigh the power of 1 extra damage if most boards you need to clear are small enough.
Except that it is worth noting that Flamestrike, Consecration, or Holy Nova are X damage to ENEMY minions. This is more like Whirlwind, Breath of the Infinite, or Chaos Nova, which is X damage to ALL minions. The second category typically costs less, so the extra mana cost on this card is only worth as much as that curse is.
I think the point is yes, they might have something planned down the line but in the meantime Warlock hasn't got enough support for 1 archetype to play. At least, we've not seen that yet. The criticism is Blizz should not be releasing cards which are dead on arrival.
Agreed that they barely revealed the expansion but the worry is that we're already seeing more than 1 archetype being pushed so will the rest of cards support Murlocs, the so far half-baked Fel or this Curse archetype? What Hearthstone are we playing with Warlock? Gotta wait and maybe see but I am not optimistic.
So it's like curse of rafaam but it scales? Or this deals 0 + 1 for each other card with curse in its name that you played this game?
I guess the official translation will clarify
It looks like Warlock will be a meme class again after the rotation. They've probably completely abandoned useless Fel archetype (yes, I'm looking at you Felwalker and Grave Defiler with no fel cards to combo with) and designed new (albeit poor so far) toys for Warlock, murlocs and curses.
It was pretty much the same with Shaman a few months ago. In each subsequent expansion, he got new toys from a different category, but never good enough to make the class viable. Murlocs, freeze, evolution, elementals, totems and so on. This only changed when Team 5 started focusing more on a single idea, rather than switching the concept every few months.
Fellwalker is from the newest exp tho, they might have some stuff planned down the line - WL has the fewest reveals of this expansion rn.
Shaman was just weak before Cagematch custodian came I'd say. Paladin in year of the dragon was a real meme parade, that only got a mech aggro deck to work after the final "miniset" of the year. But shaman has been a solid performer this year, except for the first half of the barrens cycle
@Reacherl
Maybe, but that's 10 cards per class. Can you really build 3 viable archetypes (fel, murlocs and curses) within this constraint? I doubt it, more likely there won't even be one.
@YourPersonalGuru
You are right about the Paladin, but Shaman wouldn't be good either if it wasn't for a strong elemental package, followed by a good quest package (overload) and the latest, very strong freeze package.
The actual fel spell package is mostly set already and isn't as bad as all that. Fel spell targets are Full-Blown Evil, Felfire in the Hole, even Demonic Assault or Seeds of Destruction -- buffing it requires meta changes more than anything (where zoo is good). Fel spell Warlock is primarily a zoo deck. The intended playstyle is to fill your deck with fel imps and then draw and cycle them and buff them with cards like Felfire in the Hole, Hullbreaker and Shady Bartender. And that works pretty well. The biggest problems are Demonic Assault hitting friendly targets (which is fairly easy to play around mind you), and Impfestation being lousy in the current meta.
And outside of Man'ari Mosher, nothing from that archetype is really rotating.
There could be new or returning fel spells from the core set too. Impferno, Implosion.
The core set helped with shaman (and paladin)'s lack of complete ideas more than anything. I mean this year alone, Shaman got elementals and murlocs in Barrens, overload cards in Stormwind and then frost spells in Alterac. But because there was a fairly robust core set to help fill out those archetypes they all worked fairly well.
So far Warlock's only revealed 5 cards. I think this is the end of the Murlocs, and it's reliant on the core set to fill out the rest with neutrals. There needs to probably be at least 2-3 more curse cards for Abyssal Curse to make ANY sense (and there's still the miniset if that's not enough) and then there's 2-3 more slots for whatever. Fel spells, pain lock, decking out or all three.
One thing I really wanna see is them change the quest to "your own *cards*" rather than "on your *turn*" because it makes Hullbreaker so bad.
Curse of Weakness won't work, right...?
You would think so but look at how many commons that are actually better than legendaries.
Finally a good Warlockcard. And I like Curse Cards.
This is kinda... awful though.
