Actually really good. You can use it in so many ways, on an enemy minion before you kill it with something else, on a friendly minion to suicide into the minions the opponent just played....
I think there has been a mistake: why is this card for mages and not for shamans? What does a mage have to do with a volcano? I think this card should be Living Bomb.
If it were 3 mana dealing 3 dmg to all minions, that would powercreep the previous Mage spell that deals 2 dmg to all minions for 3 mana…
btw, that spell has rotated to Wild, I forgot the name of it. It is not Fire Sale.
I personally would never run this over Fire Sale
Those are two very different cards
Maybe you should in an aggro meta
Fire sale is way better overall but mostly in a spell mage whereas this card can work in aggro mech mage too
Feels more like a shaman card, but cool that mage gets some kind of tactical value clear. If you have a 1/1 it's sick, but it easily becomes a 4 mana 3 damage (hero power) or a wonky trade. Maybe it's even better to just play this on turn 2/3 against aggro to block them from flooding the board
This card can be cast on enemy minions also. VERY SOLID anti aggro spell. much needed
Cool card. It can be just 3 mana to deal 3 damage to everything, or 2 if you can trade, though it will cost you 2 cards instead of one.
But I think the more interesting use for this is that it can be done on two different turns. You can use it on turn 2 and wait until a later turn to detonate it when the board is more threatening.
Is that better than fire sale? Probably not, though who knows if you might want to run both.
I don't know the difference between mage and shaman now
Explosive Sheep on steroids. It should work great with Lifesteal or Poisonous minions, right Blizzard? RIGHT!?
No it shouldnt. Its the spell dealing 3 damage not the minion
Finally some good card design
does it work with lifesteal or is the spell doing the Damage?
The card text actually tells you that the spell deals the damage. Otherwise, it'd say "when it dies, it deals 3 damage to all other minions".
I don't know if it will end up being good, but I really like the design of it, as it introduces some actual thought process into the game for both players (which has been sorely lacking for the last few expansions).
It's arguably slightly better than Doomsayer as an anti aggro tool, becuase it can't easily be remove by the opponent (unless you have a minion to trade into), and fits really well into mage (who can often ping the minion to trigger the effect). It can also be used on rush minions from your own side as an AOE in a pinch (but I don't think this is the best use case).
I don't understand why people are comparing this with Doomsayer, the effect has nothing to do with it, and yes, this card is a great board clear, mage has a lot of low cost cards that kill minions so it's quite simple to activate the effect of this card.
They compare it as a board clear tool. You can compare it actually, think about it. Doomsayer cleared any board, but without freeze and taunts it was almost guaranteed to be traded, with the additional risk of silence and opponent using spells on it (which could be arguable that on some scenarios, your opponent spending mana on clearing it was good)... Now, this won't clear any board but small boards, which is OK, and is only weak to silence. Yes, you need a minion. But you can select even an opponent minion for this to work.
Interesting card. Could see play in a few decks.
Reminds me of the "ticking bomb" ability that the bosses in Blackrock Mountain used. I really liked this effect for some reason, maybe because of the neat animation
