Known Issues 22.0 Update - Dust Refunds Coming for Vanndar and Drek'thar
Here's the latest update to the Known Issues posts that Blizz have been doing, with a special note about refunds that are coming for Vanndar Stormpike and Drek'Thar and how people that have already disenchanted either card will get an automatic refund of the dust!
Quote from Blizzard12/10 Update: We are in the process of rolling out a server-side hotfix that includes the following updates:
• Fixes a bug with Pathmaker’s effect display in match history tiles.
• Fixes a bug where Pride Seeker’s effect did not persist after Celestial Alignment.
• Fixes a bug where Snowfall Graveyard was causing slow downs or crashes if active while certain animations are triggered.
• Fixes a bug where Maestra of the Masquerade doubled your Armor when you reveal yourself.
• Fixes a bug where Iceblood Tower could allow for the player to make a Discover choice at the end of their turn. The selection will now be automatic and random.
• Fixes a bug where Bloodsworn Mercenary caused crashes.
• Fixes a bug where the Alterac Valley game board was not appearing in games.
• Fixes a bug where Vanndar and Drek’Thar weren’t counting towards “Collect Legendary Alterac Valley” achievements.
• Resumes Korrak’s full refund period that was unintentionally cut short. The refund period will continue until December 18.
• Adjusts how Mercenaries ratings are calculated to generally award more rating for a win, but not lose more rating for a loss. The intent of this change is to make it so that more players can aspire to reach the top rating level (currently 12,000). We will continue to monitor ratings and make any further adjustments necessary in future updates.
• Adjusts Mercenaries product logic for “random Mercenary”-type products. Previously, if you bought a product of this type while already owning all Mercenaries within that category (such as “Random Epic Mercenary” product when you already had all Epic Mercenaries), you would receive Coins for a random selection from that category. Now, in those situations you will first receive a random missing Portrait from a Mercenary within that category and will only receive Coins if you also have all Portraits for all Mercenaries within that category.
• Increases Sky Admiral Rogers’s Firing Position damage (at Rank 5, damage increased from 20 to 25).
• Fixes a bug in Mercenaries where Mr. Smite’s Sharpened Scabbard was adding damage while Mr. Smite was on the bench.
• Fixes a bug in Mercenaries where Vanessa VanCleef’s Sifting Sachels would sometimes fail to add a Cooldown for what it copies.
• Fixes a bug in Mercenaries where Valeera would sometimes not receive her Speed buff while she has Stealth.
• Fixes a bug causing crashes in Mercenaries Fighting Pit games versus A.I. opponents.
• Fixes a bug where products that offer random Mercenaries Portraits would give Mercenary Coins instead of a Portrait if the Portrait randomly awarded would have been the last missing Portrait for that particular Mercenary. On another note, the team has decided to extend the start-of-rewards-track refund logic to also apply to Vanndar and Drek’Thar. Although these cards do not meet the circumstances we normally use to apply refund logic, we have heard your feedback that an exception in this instance will make for a better play experience for many players. The decision to add this refund logic was finalized after this hotfix was put together, so the refund period has not been enabled yet. We will update our messaging once that refund period has started. After that refund period goes live, players who already disenchanted Drek’Thar or Vanndar will automatically receive additional dust to make up for not receiving full value.
We will update this post when we have more information.
When is the other expansion coins coming? I want my Knights of the Frozen Throne coin.
"extend the start-of-rewards-track refund logic"
how is one supposed to know what that means, without any explanation of what it is?
I had to read the comments to realize what's going on. Can't they be clear about it? "All those that opened normal X or Y from pack get to DE this card for full price. All that alread DEd for lower price will get 1200 dust compensation. If you opened X or Y as golden .... ... (what then?)"
Apparently I'm a bit tired, but what exactly did they nerf with Korrak that'd require a full-dust refund?
Nothing, but it's free with the paid reward track.
It was introduced so that you can dust copies you opened.
Nothing. They weren’t nerfed. They’re both free Legendaries for the Honor questline. However due to an oversight they were obtainable in packs despite being free during the event. So they’re giving dust refunds for the two so you can dust any copies obtained from packs, and can focus on the free copies
damn... still no duplicate merc protection...
What about all the achievements that aren't working?
Testing? What do you mean we should test before release?
I disagree. Both Drek'thar and Vanndar are among the better legendaries this set, and people who want to be competitive won't be able to dust them and then be without for the next few months if they want to remain competitive. And that's not even mentioning that you might disenchant the legendary you open in a pack, except that it's not the legendary of the faction that ends up winning, so you end up never getting the extra copy at all.
The right way to do it would be to either give people a chance to refund them once we receive the golden legendary, or even more simply, to just make the golden legendary itself possible to disenchant. That way you can easily just disenchant it if you've already opened it and still end up with 1 copy and 1600 spare dust.
no as long as you complete the honor quests, you are guaranteed to have both legendaries in golden for free. this refund was completely necessary. the situation was keeping me from opening my alterac packs until I complete the questline since I was too afraid to get a faction legendary.
You don't have to wait several months to get the opposing faction's legendary, lots of people have grinded out the honour quest already. Everyone who is trying to be competitive should be able to complete it fairly quickly.
It shouldn't be possible to unpack Vanndar and Drek'thar before the event is over when the next expansion launches.
The same bug with collecting all cards in the set occurred with Flightmaster Dungar. I wonder why these pre release cards are being omitted from the collection tracker. But hopefully third time is a charm going forward!
So if I didn't yet disenchant the Drek'Thar / Vanndar that I opened from pack, I will be able to disenchant them for full dust refund once the fix goes live, right?
Yep
Because this kind of giveaway has never existed before, duh.
The messaging on this seems unnecessarily snippy for something that seems like it should have been a no-brainer. These are cards everyone is going to receive as golden, so of course most people will want to dust the normal one, and of course they are going to want full dust for it since the player has no control over whether or not they get it from a pack.
I'm normally one who thinks free players ask too much, but in this case the full refund is absolutely called for.
this is great news! not only we get to have refunds for drekthar and vandarr, but I guess we are getting some sort of a dupe protection in merc packs as well (tho im not 100% sure). I guess I can no longer get 50 coins while I was missing a portrait of that rarity.
still no proctection towards this tho I guess; for example: while missing an epic merc, I guess you can still get an epic portrait
