Blizzard just announced that they'll be releasing a balance patch as well as more Mercenaries info on Tuesday with more details on Monday next week.

- 1 Redesign (Priest)
- 1 Warlock Card Ban

1 Redesign (Priest)
1 Ban (Warlock)
7 Buffs (Hunter, Mage, Warrior)
Nerfs looking to slow things down further. Buffs looking at recent archetypes that didn't hit as well as we want, mix of light + medium changes. https://t.co/2yBftXgV3a
What do you personally think will get changed and why? Tell us in the comment section.
Well, instead of a personal attack, perhaps you'd share some thoughts on why you think "buffing" Wildfire in such a way benefits Standard? The reason I'm making such an distinction is because to my knowledge, I've never seen a card -buffed- specifically for Wild (nerfs reverted, sure, but never a buff). Generally, a card only gets buffed if its underperforming in some way in Standard.
Now, let's set aside for a moment that the general consensus is that the mage buff is likely to be more targeted towards a minion rather than a spell, as the primary complaint about mage in general right now is that they don't play minions.. what exactly would reducing Wildfire's cost to 1 bring to the table? The minor tempo gain from being able to cast it on turn one, then potentially clearing a 2-health minion on turn 2 would be rendered moot rather quickly in subsequent turns, not to mention that mage has much beefier 2-mana options for control. I'm hard pressed to come up with any other examples where the cost reduction makes much of an impact.
I wonder if the priest quest is getting reworked or illucia
I really hope they are going to buff mage minions and not spells, quest mage is toxic enough.
redesign quest priest
first step play a cost 2 and 3
second step play a cost 4 and 5
third step play a cost 6 and 7
That's not a redesign, just a mana change. Illucia will be redesigned.
How do you know?
If they don't dismantle the Warlock quest the game is unsalvageable.
Yeah nerf the new cool stuff so that we can get all the old long non games back… because any aggro deck vs Reno priest/ Reno lock was such an interactive matchup…
It would have been ok for control being bad until next expansion. But a vocal minority gets what it wants.
meta was at least new and different in wild. No more secret mages, no reno decks, no control shaman, no big decks.
One week after the patch there will be people complaining about raza priest again.
Next Patch: Flesh Giant costs (11)
Huge nerf is not enough anymore, this cursed card need to be banned from all formats, erradicated out of the existence forever.
I'd be shocked if the Warlock ban was for the quest itself, even in Wild. If I had to guess it'd be something like Crystallizer in Wild.
..and to clarify, I don't think it'd be a hard ban like "Warlocks can't use Crystallizer", but rather they made the card mutually exclusive with The Demon Seed.
We'll see.
ok, so for all of the people downvoting me for what I guess is having the audacity to not predict that they're just going to delete The Demon Seed from the game, lemmie ask you this:
When they do bans, its usually from one format or the other, otherwise they would just nuke the card entirely and change it to something else. Now, given that The Demon Seed isn't nearly as problematic in Standard as it is in Wild, it's fair to assume the ban would be Wild-related, yes? So, from here, we would look at what interactions exist in Wild that do not in Standard that make it that much more of a problem. The primary culprit that jumps out at me is Crystallizer, hence my prediction.
Also bear in mind that other Warlock nerfs were mentioned, which would likely impact both Standard and Wild, which makes it that less likely that the quest itself is getting banned in Wild.
Now, I could be wrong, I could be right.. we'll know when the actual nerfs are announced, but if I'm right I WILL strut all over the place just because your downvotes hurt my feelings.
You are getting down voted (by me at least) cause Crystallizer is not a class card but a neutral, and they speak only about class cards in the changes list.
Making Crystallizer mutually exclusive with The Demon Seed, as I stated, would effectively be a Warlock ban, since it would mean that those that have The Demon Seed in their deck (which is only Warlocks), cannot add Crystallizer to it.
Well-deserved strutting it would be. i strongly doubt they would make cards mutually exclusive; hearthstone thrives in its simplicity in design (this was their reason for keeping deck slots limited to 9 for so long (which is weird but whatever)), and this is a pretty unintuitive fix. It would definitely be a big step to balancing the archetype, but not the direction they like taking these things
Yeah, in addition to backend changes, it would potentially require UI tweaks to allow for mutual exclusivity of specific cards, and they do tend to err on the side of simpler fixes...
BUT.. if ever there was a time to take a bold step to pave the way for better Wild balancing, now is the time to do it.
Simply banning The Demon Seed would be the easy, wipe-hands-on-pants way to address the issue, but I kinda consider that the coward's way out and I guess for once, I'm banking on them to be bold and brave.
Warlock quest ban in Wild? would be great, currently format is unbearable and boring (Questlines: Warlock, Hunter, Warrior - repeat, 80% of meta) as never before.
Ah yes, the good ol' announcement of the announcement of the upcoming nerfs announcement announcement.
Battle grounds needs some adjustment, so good to hear!
