damn Curator was a neutral and was way better than this cheap copy
This is absolutely better than Curator. 2 mana cost reduction for -1/-1 and losing taunt. The deal with draw is: the cheaper it is, the better it is. 5 mana draw 3 is SUBSTANTIALLY better than 7 mana draw 3.
Not to mention, that drawing a murloc and a beast in warrior is not so valuable. Pirate and mech are way more synergic for them.
If nothing else, he’s the Ringmaster for the Curator’s Traveling Circus.
Stats are the same.
Curator: 7 Mana 4/6 with Taunt. So: 4+6=10 10/2=5 7-5=-2
Ringmaster: 5 Mana 3/5 without Taunt. So: 5+3=8 8/2=4 5-4=-1
So, there is a difference of UV -1 but generally taunt worth 1 in stats.
So they are exactly the same.
4/6 on turn 7 is a lot more underwhelming than a 3/5 on turn 5, though. Even with taunt. Plus when you consider what you want this card to do. Getting card advantage on turn 5 is better than card advantage on turn 7 in most cases.
Curator is like... playing a 5 drop on turn 7 and drawing 3 cards for 2 mana. This is like... playing a 4 drop on turn 5 and drawing 3 cards for 1 mana. I think stat for stat it's definitely better.
Though a 4/6 taunt I guess would be a very high-end 5 drop. Or a kinda weak 6 drop.
In the classic set, Taunt was worth like 1 mana or even 1.5 mana, but honestly in reality it's worth like... half a mana probably.
People seem to forget this card, if not drawn too late, draws you three cards. That alone is solid. Assuming you build a deck around it, it can tutor for your most important cards.
That being said, Warrior already has Ancharrr, which you can tutor for already, and which draws Pirates more consistently earlier. Mechs aren't really good right now, but we might see some support for it. It wouldn't be a good card just to tutor for a Dragon, when Warrior can already run the weapon.
How can a leggie do so little ? Experiment failed with curator way back so idk why is this exist.
Curator was part of the most dominant tier 1 deck during the journey to un'goro meta, which was murloc paladin (utilising gentle megasaur as the beast and Primordial Drake as the dragon) to tutor up both ways to fight for board late game or just close out games.
Curator was incredibly good not to mention the fact that this pulls a Pirate, Dragon, and Mech is very crucial as warrior is know for having fairly good minions of all these tags. Dragon just has a ton of options, namely Deathwing, Mad Aspect or any of the other big dragons, mech can easily be The Boom Reaver or Tomb Warden as solid pickups, and pirate has a few solid options in things like Greenskin, Stickyfinger, and Pillager. And that's assuming you're intending this as a tutor rather than just card draw so you could still play things like Sky Raider, Risky Skipper, or the numerous big dragons and just use this for card draw. Only mech is the real weak spot but between the 2 mentioned, maybe even Omega Devestator could see a slight resurface as something that can just be pulled off this card.
I just dont like this effect on a legendary... does not feel unique enough for me.
I hope I wont get any warrior legendaries this expansion.
Big Ol’ Whelp < Big Ol’ Worgen
Ashmore never caught on, and Curator had taunt. 3/5 for 5 is bad as we saw with the paladin +3/3 dragon guy.
that's absolutely true but this guy is 2 mana cheaper. Still I don't think he's great but deserves some testing at least.
Ashmore was 7 mana. This is 5 mana. There's a gargantuan difference. Big Ol' Whelp sees play, and it's a 5 mana 5/5 that draws 1 card. It's a solid card that doesn't feel bad to play. It's not great but it's solid. With this legendary, you're sacrificing two attack for two cards. Which is absolutely and obviously VERY worthwhile. Not to mention it's even better than just "draw 3" because it's actually "TUTOR 3 cards from your deck that synergize with your game plan" If there is a menagerie warrior that exists, this absolutely is run. Even if there isn't a menagerie warrior, this probably finds a home somewhere. Either way. Way better card than Ashmore, not even a comparison.
Actually no, what we saw with that card was that handbuffing is too slow to be worth it. This draws cards, which is a much superior effect. As long as warrior gets a mech worth tutoring, this will see play. There's no way it doesn't see play. Curator was a mainstay in control warrior at the time, and that card was worse than this card is. Curator having taunt was not a benefit in comparison to being able to use this two turns earlier and potentially getting three cards instead of two (since you rarely had all three tribals for curator at the time)
So far warriors are getting the cool stuff, I hope they do something unique with the other classes as well.
Isn't that what wrestling is? They are all a bunch of clowns.
Hello my new The Curator
It used to be dragon, beast and murloc.
beasts and murlocs going home, pirates and mechs joining the party.
