Hearthstone Ranked Play Changes Coming February - A Faster Climb
Climbing Hearthstone's ladder is going to get easier for players below Rank 10! Details below.
- There is no change from rank 10 to rank 1.
- Between rank 50 and 16, ranks only require 3 stars to level up. (2 less!)
- Between rank 15 and 11, ranks only require 4 stars to level up. (1 less!)
Quote from DaxxarriWe’ve heard a lot of feedback about the long climb in Ranked play, so starting with the February Ranked Play season, we’re introducing a quality of life change by reducing the number of Stars required to advance in many of the Ranks!
Currently, every Rank has five Stars. When the February Ranked Play Season starts, each Rank will have the following number of Stars instead:
Rank Stars Rank 50 to Rank 16 3 Stars per Rank Rank 15 to Rank 11 4 Stars per Rank Rank 10 to Rank 1 5 Stars per Rank
This will make your Ranked Play climb faster in the lower ranks, while preserving the more competitive Star values for the higher Ranks.
When the February Ranked Play Season begins, you will still be reset four Ranks lower than the highest Rank you achieved in the previous season, but “excess” Stars will be shed to align with the new value for the Rank you are moving to. For example, if your highest Rank in January was Rank 10 with five Stars, then when the February Season begins, you will be set to Rank 14 with four Stars. The “fifth” Star is no longer there, but you would still be at the highest value for the Rank you were moved to.
It really doesn't make much of a difference to me. I have been getting at least 5 wins to get the card back and every once in a while I will get to lvl 20. Since you can't lose stars up to lvl 20 you might as well get at least that far. 3 stars or 5 its all just about the same to me, perhaps slightly easier and less time.
Actually this is different from original legacy system... ranks 21-25 were 2 stars not 3 stars in legacy...
Dude. I just want better ranked rewards. I'm begging,
congrats that you have all the time in the world to play this game. I, myself work daily and play this game once in a while. I play a few matches and got to rank 10 monthly (I'm not interested in pushing to legend, I have better things to do). But since all the ranks got 5 stars I felt back to rank 18 in 3 months due to nog playing enough. This is a good chance for players like me.
I don't call myself a 'bad' player just because I don't play enough.
I'm right there with you. I've also noticed after I fell that far that there is literally no easier to win at rank 17 than it is to win at rank 10, nor was there much of a difference in the quality of the decks you face.
I mainly play 20-15 and frankly some months I am struggling yo get out of 19. The majority of the deck are meta decks, very few players at this rank play fun decks (most of them used to be Academic Esp rogues). So you get many experienced players who have a good collection stuck between ranks 20-15 - those players don't play often enough to get beyond.
I'm pretty sure they did the change to give a bit of breathing space to newbies who must have had a hard time when reaching rank 20. Most of them must have stopped playing on the ladder then.
Yeah? Well I'm very proud of ya!
Jerky Boys voice, "Frank Rizzo".
So they reverted it back to what it was before the current system. Cool?
Not quite; ranks 25-21 only required 2 stars. Still, I'm glad that they're bringing it (almost) back to what it was before. It wasn't broken, so why did they try to fix it?
First of many improvements, I hope
Why change it in a first place... but I probably will ever see 4 stars instead of 5 in wild only... and probably will never see 3 stars because I usually play wild enough to get to rank 9 at least...
These new rules remind me of something...
I literally play only 10 games every month to get back to rank 5 for the chest, they should really improve the rewards system for player to play more games, the last 2 expansions have been given minimum excitement in the entire HS history.
You see, ppl get spoiled really fast. It's used to be NO rewards whatsoever like 2 years ago. You used to rank to just rank:)
So, It's a change
"Ranked play changes" ..... No... Ranked play returns to normal after Blizzard realized they screwed it up.
High ranks mean nothing anyway... been that way for a long time. All it does is make it faster to get the season rewards, which are garbage anyway lol
Agreed. When you compare it to other digital CCGs, the season rewards for HS are really weak. I have not had any desire to grind ranks for years.
Who cares? If you hit legend every season you start at rank 4 anyway.
Finally, I always found the 5 stars on lower ranks an exaggeration. Now it's a bit more fair again.
