Very strong. Comparable to DK Ghuldan, who has a waaaay better heropower, but I think the Hunter DK has a more reliable Battlecry in a spell heavy deck. Yes, he is most save in a spell hunter - but even a slower Midrange Hunter with some spell can use him well. 5 secrets + bunch of beasts are allready enough value.
The big question is: Is he better than the old Hunter DK? I think it should depend on the deck. In some cases the old DK should still be better.
I think People get unrealistic expectations for some cards in reveal season. People want to see crazy cards and are disappointed if it isn't broken (which this could be in the right list). I am Confident Team 5 brought this card into the game thinking of not just the current standard format but wild and next expansions in mind
I am very confident this will be competitively viable if not before definitely post rotation, being one of the 3 hero cards remaining.
don't hate just wait! :)
After the rotation Spellstone, Rokh'de'lar and To my side all leave the standard. I really see a lot of bad synergy with hunter spells, like kill command, tracking... Spell hunter will just crumble. Also, with no Rexxar Hunters will not play to turn 10. People just forgot the true nature of Hunters, that don't last that long.
And you have more than 7 board spaces it seems? :D
(But still worth.)
spell stones will only generate 2 wolves each not 4. so no, there will be room
This one alone will make Spell Hunter god tier. It will be “Play 5 secrets, 2 times wolves, 2 times Animal Companions, 2 times destroy random enemy minion...”
very good card but not for deathrattle hunter , it will push spell hunter to the top because replaying all the secrets is insane not to mention by my sides and animal companion. and simply finish with rexxar after even if you play it before zuljin you will still get the value from rexxar and end the game with possibly 4 hoffers , in my opinion a very strong card but for spellhunter only not beast or deathrattle hunter because there are not enough beasts left in the deck because by the time you play this you already played boomzooka. Great card and spell hunter tier 1 mark my words.
Seeing Zul'jin in the game alone gets me hyped, but giving him the hero card treatment!? He's pre-nerf yogg but better because you control what spells get played (similar to shudderwock, which i also love) with the sniper-buffed hero power. Possibly slow, though not as slow as deathstalker rexxar, but clearly fun and amazing. I've played spell hunter and that's fun but i think this would be just as good if not better in the wild yogg and load version.
TAZDINGO!!
Blizzard please hire this guy to make the next warcraft movie, he's got some great idea.
Cool video!!! Not sure how the card is though but cool video! :)
Double quest reward!
Literally the best reveal video I have ever seen. And also super digging Zul'jin, looks like a great control card. Could be nuts in Spell Hunter too, summoning a board full of wolves and Huffers. :)
Hero power should be 3 damage.... or Windfury 2 dmg. DK Guldan got 3 dmg + lifesteal...
Compared to Gul'dan this is absolute trash. No control over your spells, and a weaker Hero Power that has no lifesteal. Rexxar is 90 times better 1/5 stars from me.
and Anduin's Hero power is way better as well. They were way too cautious with this one.
You underestimate the battlecry- getting 5 secrets AND filling your board with minions. Pretty good. Also, if you play it after trading in, you can get your dead ones back.
I just think you have to be too far ahead and draw almost perfectly (Boomzooka is also legendary) so it would need a decent Hero Power and Fireblast Rank 2 isn't good after turn 10.
edit: and you also need to keep 6 big guys in your deck over 10 turns to make use of two Boomzooka spells being played.
I admit, I was wrong about the card itself, but honestly it's the strength of the deck as a whole, Zul'jin always sits in-hand or is over kill it seems. The hero power is still awful though.
Hell, yeah!
The video. The epic video!!! Just watch the reveal video, it is best of this expansion.
Just "Zul'jin"; no flavorful title to go with it? Weird. Makes it kind of boring. Replaying my To My Side!s, Spellstones and/or Secrets will be fun, at least.
