2 mana draw 2, it can be overpowered card draw for aggro, but we already have Divine Favor. Srsly, nerf this s*it
This card - ok, for Lynessa, stonehill control, for meat wagon mech pala possibly good, but has 1 problem - broken divine favor, why draw 2 for 2, if you can draw 6 or 7 for 3?
Because maybe you don't empty your hand because you don't play aggro. This card wasn't printed for aggro, that's why it's so limited.
So yeah, divine favor draws more of you play aggro against control. But if you play control against aggro, it's a 3 mana card that doesn't do shit.
Finally drawing lynessa in quest paly is easy :)
Man, this is tough. Typically, drawing two cards is worth three mana, and drawing three cards is worth five mana. Small-Time Recruits never saw play, and is a two mana discount on its draw effect. Crystology is only a one mana discount relative to its effect. Hypothetically, that should mean this card is bad, as its effect wasn't that compelling in the past, and the discount here is worse. On the other hand, since MSoG, we've seen cards like Bolvar, Fireblood and Lynessa Sunsorrow introduced, and we've already seen a sturdy 1-Attack mech in Upgradeable Framebot. And maybe drawing three 1-Attack minions is excessive - to consistently get the full value, it means you have to be running a lot of 1-Attack minions, so a card you can play earlier, that consistently gets full value without diluting your deck, could be very powerful. Maybe this is exactly what Small-Time Recruits needed to be.EDIT TLDR: Misremembered the behavior of Small-Time Recruits. Crystology is great, should see play.
Effects are totally different, first one draw 1 cost minion, but this one draws 1 attack minions, which include stuff like Stonehill Defender and Tar Creeper
Shoot, you're right, I totally forgot that about Small-Time Recruits. Probably because it was so bad I never saw it in play.
I tried Small-Time Recruits for a while in a Handbuff deck. My theory was that small minions benefit the most from buffs, so getting a large hand of mostly 1-cost minions buffed would be good and Small-Time Recruits would enable that.
The first problem I ran into is that you need a lot of 1-cost minions in your deck to be able to draw three of them consistently. So I put extra 1-cost minions in the deck, until I had about 10. But then the average draw at the start of the turn became so bad, I had to add even more card draw to make sure I got enough value in the hand. So I ended up drawing the entire deck in record time and when going into fatigue I would have several draw cards and several 1-drops in hand. I solved that with Elise Starseeker and got a deck that sometimes worked, if you were lucky to draw the cards in the right order.
The second problem is that you spend 3 mana on a spell that doesn't affect the board. If you cast it on an early turn, you lose so much momentum that it's hard to catch up if your opponent is developing their board. If you cast it on a later turn, the minions you draw, even if you can buff them, aren't going to make much of an impact. I think that Small-Time Recruits would actually have been better if it cost two and drew two, even if it was still 1-cost minions.
this is very strong paladin can get protector, stonehill ,pain, tar creeper and more will be good in cantrol paladin
Wow, this could be a great card for Exodia Paladin in Wild. Thin your deck to draw your Lynessa Sunsorrow, Tar Creepers, Stonehill Defenders, even Acolyte of Pains.
Thanks Blizz!
While Stonehill Defender and Lynessa are a thing, maybe its worth putting at least one copy of this on Galvadon/Control Pally.
potential synergy with the upcoming paladin legendary, also Bolvar + Righteous Protector in a Divine Shield build. Could be good.
Cheap tutor and card advantage.. If not good now, can get crazy in wild!
DRAW BOTH MEAT WAGONS FOR THE MEAT WAGON + MECH SYNERGY
I think it might have some potential with Stonehill Defender and Righteous Protector and perhaps even Lynessa Sunsorrow and Bolvar, Fireblood (+ Fordragon in wild).
Small Recruits' younger brother
1 attack not 1 cost... pretty important as it can draw some nutty 1 attack cards.
Nevermind
draw bolvar... ?
Not good now, but one day this will be apart of a crazy otk
Bolvar and Lynessa synergy, potentially worth noting?
