Join Lead Mission Designer Dave Kosak, along with Mission Designers Paul Nguyen and Giovanni Scarpati, for a Hearthside Chat that will equip you with everything you need to know for a successful Monster Hunt!
Ready for Action
If you played the Dungeon Run in Kobolds & Catacombs, the Monster Hunt will be eerily familiar—but much is different! Rather than choosing one of Hearthstone’s nine classes, you’ll take on the role of one of four veteran monster hunters, each with a special ability that you’ll need to make the most of if you hope to survive the hunt.
Your hunter will venture deep into the Witchwood on Hagatha’s trail, defeating a series of monstrous bosses who dare to cross your path. With each victory, you’ll build a stronger and stronger deck with the items you find. You may encounter some trusty old equipment out in the forest, but much of what you’ll find will be entirely new, including treasures unique to certain foes. Each monster hunter has their own favorite tricks—a special hero power or ability that you’ll need to master if you hope to survive the hunt. Each hunter also carries a grudge against a heinous nemesis in the woods: a unique boss that only they can track down to fight.
You’ll want to go on a Monster Hunt with every hunter, because each offers a quest that will earn you a Witchwood card pack. And if you’ve got the mettle to complete the Monster Hunt with all four hunters, you’ll finally have a chance to face off with the real witch in the woods: Hagatha! If you can free the wood from Hagatha’s curse, you’ll earn the gratitude of Gilneas and the Monster Hunter card back!
We hope you enjoyed learning more of what lurks ahead in Monster Hunt! We’re eager to hear your tales of The Witchwood on social media using the #Witchwood hashtag. Learn more about The Witchwood at TheWitchwood.com!
We’ll see you on the hunt!
Almost rewardless? 4 packs is a pretty nice reward. What the hell did you expect? 5 golden legendaries? Besides, the reward is getting to play another game mode. I loved the dungeon runs in K&C and even continued playing them after I got the card back. If you don't care about it, just go play the ranked ladder instead.
At least this time there’s a reward. Keep in mind you didn’t get anything for completing a class in dungeon run
dungeon run had almost no reward too, and yet I beat it like 3 times per class.. you don't need a reward for anything you do.. fun is enough.
what do you mean "no reward to us", i think 4 packs is great, and so does pretty much every one else. we only got 3 packs from dungeon runs, and from most other events, usually when blizzard gives out free packs it is usually 3, so consider this an extra pack.
i must resist, dont want more spoilers Q-Q
So fucking stupid they delayed this two weeks. Killed all my hype completely. The cards are retarded, I haven't given a shit about ladder shit for well over a year now. This is the only good kind of content Blizzard ever puts out for this game anymore and they delayed it to make more money. Holy fuck that is stupid.
Considering how many players are interested in ranked as well as single player content it makes perfect sense to delay it. When K&C came out I didn't play as much arena/standard as I normally do for new sets because I wanted to play the dungeon runs.
They said already Dungeon Runs put too much strain on the servers, being right when the expansion hit. If you’d rather it be more laggy when the expansion hits then sure, release them at the same time.
A WHOLE WEEK AWAY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Super excited, I loved the dungeon runs. Can't wait to try this out too.
I do wish they would work on production/direction a little, the camera angles were really weird, and it all felt way too scripted. That's one of the things I love about Brode's videos, he embraces the weirdness of the situation and just has fun.
Agree. And I love free packs.
There were some awkward acting moments, but to be fair, most programmers and software design people I've met aren't great on camera. I wouldn't be. So it could have been worse and free packs/modes are good for the player base. Was surprised at how much work looks to have gone into this.
There's not a single game dev that can compete with Brode on that front
"Entire mission design team"... All two of them... that would explain some things...
HYYYPE!
