Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
The power level of the deck is fine honestly, even with the best hand it can't kill you until t11 or t10 with coin and it usually it takes an extra few turns. It folds almost instantly to any aggressive deck. It has very limited board control, all of which overload leaving it almost dead in the water and all its minions are low tempo outside of chain-gang and maybe grumble.
Power level wise, It's basically pre-rotation quest mage but it lacks the board control that offered and has no ice block to fall back on. Hearthstone players that have no prior CCG or TCG experience are incredibly whiny. Combo is as important to the health of any meta in any TCG/CCG as Midrange, Aggro and Control are. Truthfully, The only issue with the deck is that it takes 18-26 minutes to resolve the actual combo. Either letting the opponent concede during a battlecry (maybe concede status can be checked between battlecries?) or after like 2:00 on the turn timer things get sped up or skipped I feel like that'd be good.
It needs at least 4 or 5 key cards,7 or 8 to make it secure. and most of them there's not way to make sure you draw them
many cards you need to put 2 copy in case one of it fall in the very bottom of your deck and even 2 copies it still happen sometime
and the problem is those piece are not really you want to draw early games because then it will get beaten by all the argo decks
so i think it's not op, only the annoying waiting time , it can hardly beat any argo, it has a good win rate against control, that's about it
The only realy shudderwack problem is it's long and none interactive. As a slower control deck you simply just don't play a game against shudderwack. Either they draw shudderwack, and you take 20 minutes to die, or they don't and you kill them. Theres no interaction there at all. Both players are playing solitaire. Similar to raza priest pre nerf.
I dont see problem at all... . Faced so many times and i never feel its in some way op.
how this argument cannot be aplicated to mague quest tho? (im favor shudderwock needs to be nerfed)
Being able to concede without having to wait for the animations to finish would be a good move.
The problem with this is that its not your "traditional" OTK combo, in that you have to have all the pieces in hand (thus handicapping your play until you have all the pieces), you just have to eventually draw and play them, so it really does just become solitaire with only aggro countering it.
There are so many decks that beat this and the deck is not op if they don’t draw Shudderwock or the enablers. Honestly I hope they don’t nerf this to hell, I love playing with and against this card, brings black the good old days of pre-nerf Yogg. Honestly what is the difference between this and other OTK combos? Sure the animations are long and annoying, but knowing Blizzard they will make this unplayable and we will continue at the mercy of cubelocks and Aggro Pallys.
Problem is people are already finding ways to fix the draw problem. They're actually adding Far Sight, and it's working.
The problem isn't Shudderwock, it's Grumble, since that battlecry is so powerful and bounces the copies back. Grumble should get nerfed instead, changed to be a card that supports Elemental Shamans instead.
still weak... far sight added at first second deck existed its not someting new
and that card draw simply making it EVEN WEAKER aganist agro decks wich has %70 win rate and everywere :P
Hell if you want to cry for someting try crying for agro paladin XD
This happened to raza too. The card wasn't a problem until another op card came out, then it was time to blame the first card. Grumble has never been op until shudderwock came. Shudderwock needs the nerf, no Grumble.
Thats exactly what they mean when they say a card limits design space, its ok t'ill someting makes use of it and becomes broken, look at codlight for exemple, that card is faaaaar from being op, but since this expension has every class with their hands filled it would be a no brainer, thus, Hall of famed, same goes for raza and Grumble, they are limiting the design of new, fun cards
That is actually a great idea. A quick fix could be adding "if you played an Elemental last turn" to Grumble's battlecry. If I'm not mistaken, this way Shudderwock's battlecry would not trigger the Grumble's one (as it is conditional).
The abundance of Aggro Paladins can be blamed on all the Shudderwock decks, as people are playing Aggro to counter the Shudderwocks. Nerf Shudderwock, you cut back on Aggro.
this card is fucking retarded, end of discussion
