it doesn't say "empty mana crystals" so correct me if I'm wrong, but in my understanding even in the late game this is still useful, you basically have Kun effect and can get two turns in one?

Astral gives you full mana crystals, the difference here is that you actually can play other cards and can be used also as a refresh effect
It would be a very weird inconsistency if a card with literally the same card text "Gain 10 Mana Crystals" did something different.
This is worst than you think. This is not Refresh your mana crystals. You must play this on turn 5 or before or it is worthless. If you break it on turn 10 you get Nothing. Unless they fixed this 'bug' because its weird to get a full refresh on 9 but nothing on 10
Similar to Nourish, you will be able to use the mana the turn this breaks.
Nourish refreshes 2 mana if you're at full "mana container"
But Astral Communion does not. And that has the exact same card text as Twig of the World Tree.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but "gain 10 mana crystals" is similar to Wild Growth text and not Innervate text.
So if you manage to kill this weapon in turn 5 you will have another 10 mana to spend and 10 mana for the rest of the game.
You are wrong, it works like Astral Communion and Nourish: The crystals you gain are full, and they remain next turn. How about some combos with Living Mana?A game? So kind of you to join me!
Aside from just playing "free" Medivh the very next turn, there's a lot of combo potential with this. However, a combo that gets completely ruined if your opponent runs, like, an ooze is not a very good combo.
5 turn delay makes this card pretty unplayble after, like, turn 8 (you rarely can afford to spend 4 mana on nothing), unless you're setting up for exactly Medivh next turn...
My Malygos + Taldaram deck is back! Play Malygos, hit and break the weapon, get 10 mana, play taldaram + spells!
Malygos druid is my favorite deck, and got killed because of the innervate nerf. Now i can finally play it again!
