ive always wondered a mechanic of discarding the opponent cards and this is kinda a big surprise its pretty strong to stop combo/aggro decks at 2 mana 2/3 stats this card is insane and warlock needed it since they are pretty lacking last expansion
in other card games, cuold fit, here, its just unfair, there is not chance to recover the lost card, those mechanics doesnt exist in hs
Does anyone know whether it displays which card is burned, it is a really important detail.
ok, This card is just totally unhealthy for the game
Vampire but no lifesteal? Meh
Jokes aside it's an interesting card. Maybe it works
Brann Bronzebeard ?????
Why is this comment downvoted?I dont get it.
The thing is, there are some players out there (including myself) that mostly play combo decks. Even with some control decks, you get to draw your whole deck in most of the games, especially the close ones. In these long games you win by playing nearly all of your cards and quite a few of them are key ones. Losing one of these cards means losing the game with no downside (stats are also good) or skill involved for your opponent, and no way to play around it. Dirty Rat was fine because not all important cards have battle cries, not all are minions, and it could backfire since it gave you board advantage.
How do you play around deck denial?
Make Warlock playable again! I don't think this card is too strong, but I like it. Who doesn't want to play a cute Vampire girl and mille your opponent with it?
Funny how Mages can potentially get seven ice blocks in one game and its ok, but when it comes to this card, oh boy. The salty is real.
the upside is you win the game ? seems unfair to me
and this the type of Warlock cards we have been asking for control
Brann Bronzebeard combo with Youthful Brewmaster in wild
Warlocks would be in trouble against rogues and maybe priests
REALLY like the design of this card. As many have mentioned it can "destroy" combo if you get the luck (which if you're playing this as a tempo two drop is really unlikely), but will require some skill to navigate if you hold it until later, much like Dirty Rat. Again, as others have pointed out, Rat usually has a better hit rate as combo players hoard pieces in their hand, but I think we'll see more savvy players find a use for this. Would be really sweet if Warlock got a removal card to put a minion on top of its owner's deck, making this a two card kill. But that feels more Priest or Rogue to me.
And for the RNG-naysayer's, this is a card game first and foremost - there is always inherent draw RNG. The beauty of Hearthstone as an online format is that it can play with randomness where other card games cannot. Sure, we've all gotten wrecked by bad RNG but it certainly helps level the playing field where even a top rate player can just lose to a coin toss. The pros or want to be pros may downvote me, but hey, we all play this games for different reasons (100% casual F2P right here).
Thanks everyone!
And what you don't get is that removing the last card of the deck is only useful if the player were to draw it: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/198150-is-burning-a-deck-card-actually-good-against-combo
It's not a removal in the sense you're trying to convey. The opponent didn't spend mana to use the card you're removing. This effect gives an actual advantage in two situations :
1) the game is going to fatigue.
2) You destroy an essential piece of a combo deck.
That's it. Simply burning a card in a vacuum isn't that powerful. It may even sometimes serve your opponent well in the late game. If you're burning a 3 mana card that was on top of the deck, and he draws his awaited late game powerhouse instead, the vampire did more wrong than good. If you're not hitting a critical win condition of the opponent, thinning his deck is not something you want to do. That's why Fel Reaver was not such a horrible card for aggro decks, as they didn't care if half their deck was burned.
Valid points, but the "drawback" of the Vampire is that you spend two mana for a 2/3 that sometimes mills a card your opponent doesn't need (ie. late game when you're actually aiming to snipe a combo piece) or push them one step closer to the card they do need (as Magiicguy said below). When you hit Alex/Jaraxus/etc that's gravy. I don't necessarily see this playing a role in aggro (but who knows maybe it will) but as a tech in the control (or combo) mirrors. Regardless, it's an interesting card on its own. Do I want to see a ton more of it? No way! Now we just need a Battlecry: see your opponent's hand and/or a Battlecry/Deathrattle each player discards a random card. Just one, not advocating a new archetype!
