Competitive Tavern Brawls with Entry Fees Coming Soon!
A new Tavern Brawl type is coming soon titled Heroic Brawl which works a bit like arena except we're using constructed decks! You will need to pay an entry fee in order to play but you can earn some pretty awesome rewards.
- The entry fee is $9.99 USD or 1000 Gold.
- You will build a Standard deck using your own card collection. No changes once it is locked in!
- Your deck can be played up until you hit 12 wins or 3 losses. You will earn rewards based on your total wins.
- Rewards featured up to 50 packs for a run, multiple legendaries, and the usual gold + dust.
- The Heroic Brawl only lasts for the duration of a regular Tavern Brawl week!
- When this special mode is running, there will not be a regular Tavern Brawl.
- You can only run Heroic Brawl five times during the week.
Rewards
Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardThis brawl is pretty different. We want it to feel more like a tournament, and so the rewards are weighted heavily towards the high end of wins. The reward for 0 wins is a single pack. If this scares you, you may want to wait for next week's Brawl and just enjoy the fun on Twitch. :) (Ben Brode)The pack rewards are from the most recent expansion - so it would be Whispers of the Old Gods. The Legendaries are random. (Zeriyah)
The current limit is five runs. (Zeriyah)
Announcement Post
Quote from BlizzardReady for the ultimate competitive Tavern Brawl experience that will test Hearthstone’s best in an all-out battle for glory? If you think you’re up to the challenge, get your deck ready and dive into the fray, because Heroic Brawl is coming!
Heroic Brawl will challenge even Hearthstone’s most experienced players as they vie for glory and in-game rewards! Participants will create a Standard deck from their existing card pool and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match. No changes can be made to your Heroic Brawl deck once you’ve locked it in, so be sure to do a bit of testing before you finalize your deck.
Once you’ve locked in your Standard deck for Heroic Brawl, you’ll be pitted against other Heroic Brawlers in heated battle. Just like the Arena, you want to shoot for 12 wins to get the best rewards—but if you get three losses, you’re out!
For Hearthstone’s best brawlers, 50 packs, a heap of Gold, piles of Arcane Dust, and three golden Legendaries sit at the end of the 12-win rainbow. The rewards are significantly different than what you have come to expect in the Arena, and the more games you win, the better they get. Are you ready to take on the best and brightest of competitive Hearthstone?
Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player. To speak more on Heroic Brawl and the philosophy behind it are two of Hearthstone’s game designers for Tavern Brawls, Dan Emmons and Pat Nagle.
Are you cracking your knuckles in anticipation yet? Here’s how you can participate!
Heroic Brawl lasts for only one normal Tavern Brawl week and has an entry fee of $9.99 USD or 1000 gold. You can participate in Heroic Brawl for a limited amount of completed runs. As mentioned above, Heroic Brawl rewards scale depending on how many wins you get, so be sure to do your best each run!
If you’re not ready to t Tavern Brawl week.
We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience. Heroic Brawl is coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
We’re always looking to try new things in Hearthstone, so let us know what you think of Heroic Brawl on the official Hearthstone forums!
I like that they're offering something like this for more advanced players, but WHY IS THERE NO TOURNAMENT MODE CONSISTENTLY RUNNING ON A DAILY SCHEDULE ALREADY?!?!?!
Super interested in the meta in this format. At first it will be all Shaman then one pro players makes a 12-0 run on twitch with freeze mage and new meta lol. I think the money is way too high but since its just a test I am looking forward to watching it.
I prefer the less reward for 12 wins but better rewards for few wins, it is scary spend 1.000 gold and open a single pack, the salty thread will be flooded for unlucky players...
Wow! Now I think I'll save some gold for... the new expansion.
Anyone say if this is affected by your MSRP or whatever its called (the way they match in play mode etc).
I was actually excited about this before I saw the rewards list. Its not for players like me, its for pros and twitch/youtubers. DISAPPOINTING.
I like this. I have a ton of gold stocked up an I'll try this a couple times. It would be cool if they added this as a separate addition to arena mode.
I figure you need 6 or 7 wins to get the same value as areana. I dont know about any one else but I am good enough to make 10 arena runs off 1000 gold sometimes much better. Yeah if you get 12 wins you can go infinite.
The majority of the Brawls have so much rng and little skill that getting 12 wins would be pretty hard.
They make this taverna for people to spend the gold and then take the new expansion people have little gold to buy packs and spend $$
One the prove they can do tournament like structure (they are testing for this feature to become permanent). Two the price is way too high, but anyone asking for free tourneys with rewards is delusional. I would rather it be 250 gold or 300 gold with less top end rewards and more middle ground ones. Three if you are Thisj this is like a dream if you are me I can think of a worse waste of gold.
Just bad.
Once, It was a really good game...
Money money money...in a rich man world !
The reason this is crap is very simple, just look at the rewards chart.
On average, a person is going to go 3-3. What are the rewards for 3-3? 4 packs, 120 gold, and 120 dust (2.5 packs assuming 50 dust average per pack). So 770 gold worth.
That means the average player will LOSE MONEY on this mode. Never mind the fact that an average player may actually average between 2-3 and 3-3 given that it allows some players up to 12 wins with out getting 3 losses, so the numbers are even worse.
A mode in which the average person loses money is not sustainable. People will wise up real fast. Arena on the other hand gives rewards that almost always total up to higher than the 150 gold investment when you go 3-3 (either via dust or a card you can disenchant). 2-3 is often still worth it too. And the worst you can do at 0-3 still gets you at least 66% of your investment back. That's why people keep playing arena. And that's why this is a scam.
It also rewards players who already have a big collection of cards with even more fucking cards.
And, like, Arena still is fucking brutal in terms of rewards. 3-3 is indeed almost 100% refund, but it is still only refund of invested gold, not time you spending on this. And brawl one... Just WOW. Brawl is always A LOT more RNG, there is no guaranty at all, that infinite arena player will end up with 5 wins (marginal value return) and even if he is - he will get no fucking gold.
"It also rewards players who already have a big collection of cards with even more fucking cards."
Exactly. If this was like....just a normal tavern brawl. Randomium or some nonsense where you don't build a deck - it's completely selected for you - would be at least fair to begin with. Stupid and random, but fair.
OR they could have made it for one that was far more deterministic. Like last week's chess. I would go in for this kind of format with chess, I won 9 of 11 games when I played that.
This doesn't reward skill like arena which has both randomness and talent taken into account. This is pay to win getting paid more to win.
What were they thinking!? Oh right, dollar signs.
