Competitive Tavern Brawls with Entry Fees Coming Soon!
A new Tavern Brawl type is coming soon titled Heroic Brawl which works a bit like arena except we're using constructed decks! You will need to pay an entry fee in order to play but you can earn some pretty awesome rewards.
- The entry fee is $9.99 USD or 1000 Gold.
- You will build a Standard deck using your own card collection. No changes once it is locked in!
- Your deck can be played up until you hit 12 wins or 3 losses. You will earn rewards based on your total wins.
- Rewards featured up to 50 packs for a run, multiple legendaries, and the usual gold + dust.
- The Heroic Brawl only lasts for the duration of a regular Tavern Brawl week!
- When this special mode is running, there will not be a regular Tavern Brawl.
- You can only run Heroic Brawl five times during the week.
Rewards
Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardThis brawl is pretty different. We want it to feel more like a tournament, and so the rewards are weighted heavily towards the high end of wins. The reward for 0 wins is a single pack. If this scares you, you may want to wait for next week's Brawl and just enjoy the fun on Twitch. :) (Ben Brode)The pack rewards are from the most recent expansion - so it would be Whispers of the Old Gods. The Legendaries are random. (Zeriyah)
The current limit is five runs. (Zeriyah)
Announcement Post
Quote from BlizzardReady for the ultimate competitive Tavern Brawl experience that will test Hearthstone’s best in an all-out battle for glory? If you think you’re up to the challenge, get your deck ready and dive into the fray, because Heroic Brawl is coming!
Heroic Brawl will challenge even Hearthstone’s most experienced players as they vie for glory and in-game rewards! Participants will create a Standard deck from their existing card pool and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match. No changes can be made to your Heroic Brawl deck once you’ve locked it in, so be sure to do a bit of testing before you finalize your deck.
Once you’ve locked in your Standard deck for Heroic Brawl, you’ll be pitted against other Heroic Brawlers in heated battle. Just like the Arena, you want to shoot for 12 wins to get the best rewards—but if you get three losses, you’re out!
For Hearthstone’s best brawlers, 50 packs, a heap of Gold, piles of Arcane Dust, and three golden Legendaries sit at the end of the 12-win rainbow. The rewards are significantly different than what you have come to expect in the Arena, and the more games you win, the better they get. Are you ready to take on the best and brightest of competitive Hearthstone?
Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player. To speak more on Heroic Brawl and the philosophy behind it are two of Hearthstone’s game designers for Tavern Brawls, Dan Emmons and Pat Nagle.
Are you cracking your knuckles in anticipation yet? Here’s how you can participate!
Heroic Brawl lasts for only one normal Tavern Brawl week and has an entry fee of $9.99 USD or 1000 gold. You can participate in Heroic Brawl for a limited amount of completed runs. As mentioned above, Heroic Brawl rewards scale depending on how many wins you get, so be sure to do your best each run!
If you’re not ready to t Tavern Brawl week.
We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience. Heroic Brawl is coming soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
We’re always looking to try new things in Hearthstone, so let us know what you think of Heroic Brawl on the official Hearthstone forums!
brawl is out for 65 weeks so you got 65 free packs and you still complain?
They are taking the 'free' out of your free to play game and instead replacing it with a verging-on-gambling paid game mode?
Yes, and you should be complaining too.
Yes, exactly.
Say one day i save 50 gold, best is 100, but i taking half point,
i can join ONE heroic tavern brawl after 20 days and get 0-3 and get 1 pack.
Here's my prediction of what's going to happen: They'll launch this deal despite the negative feedback from the community, and will try to grab as much money as possible from the initial buyers. Once the hype dies down, and no one is spending the cash anymore, they'll say that they listened to the community's feedback, and will either slightly decrease the entry price to try and grab some more money, or they'll "sweeten the deal" by readjusting the rewards.
A lot of greedy companies use this strategy to gauge what their customers are willing to spend by releasing an extremely overpriced product, and then adjust the price as they see fit.
So easily implemented with a good product, right? Remember the "Bounce drier sheet" Bear?
Example: Almost every new game with preorder. After few weeks when hype and sale goes down, game is ready for half or even 1/3 of the preorder price.
Today's economy and marketing are based on hype and "big words". Nothing special here. Product is secondary, marketing and hype goes 1st.
Iphones, actually every single apple product would be a great example.
Rather, every NEW product is a perfect example for this.
You created the first really usable tablet in the world? Well, charge it 3 times what you would charge normally for that product. You have no competition, people are hyped for it, and even if most won't buy it there will still be some that will. Then you lower the price because well "now your manufacturing process is cheaper!", so then it's twice the size. Wow, what a bargain! I guess I should get it now since I sat out the first time!
And then you release a new model, still very expensive. But of course, it the revamped model! So it's only natural it has that price tag. It's still cheaper than when the tablets first got released and now it's better!
This is done by the technology industry ALL the time. There is no point not to do it when you have no competition, because in the end you will sell just as many copies of the product, but you'll also get a lot more from people with big wallets and no patience, while also using them as test group for the next model without ruining your image as a company.
After all if EVERYONE had your sweet new tech and all of their devices died down or were just bad nobody would want to buy the new model. If anything happens for the smaller group they will just accept their fates as early adopters and you can blame it on just the first builds or some manufacturing error instead of flawed product design.
Maybe there will be a heroic brawl meta... If everybody play shaman, the winrate will not be as good as it will be mirror match most of the time, and shaman will be average, not godd...So bringing a hard counter of shaman could be a good idea.
It is a small set of game, in ladder, to be competitive you have to have a good overall deck (i.e. shaman) because you will play tons of games..
Here you have to play just a couple of games... Pick a strong choice for a strong reason because you have balls (like Frozen in NA Last call).
And maybe it will rewards you...:)
My thoughts exactly. It'll be interesting to see if the meta even has long enough to develop an equilibrium in any given week.
Don't play this. Assuming, you are as good as this game as you are in coinflipping, buy packs with reward gold and then DE all rewards, your expected value for gained dust per invested gold would be about 0,7. Just by buying packs your expected value for gained dust per invested gold would be about 1.
Yeah... some of us already have every card we're interested in owning, so the packs are just icing on the cake to add to our growing dust stash. Playing this to try to "solve" the flash meta that will develop is the interesting part, not the reward pool.
That's some crazy stuff :D
Won't engage in that too much because my skills aren't that good to play this with a positive ROI.
But I am looking forward to watch this on stream and maybe try it once or twice a year^^
Getting your Whooooa! GOLDEN LEGENDARY! site achievement have never been easier than this, I cannot wait this format hit online.
Hopefully it is not this week. Some preparation would be nice. I also can't help but think this would have been much better in arena format with same class match ups (for balance). Constructed is so stale.
I know Blizzard is a business, and their goal is to make money, but I'm getting pretty sick of them shitting over people who don't want to spend (more) money on their games. I feel screwed out of the Summer Olympics and Halloween skins in Overwatch because a). I'm not a new player who gets a loot box every 2 matches, b). don't play 12hrs/day, c). not spending $40 buying 50 boxes.
And now this... I pretty much only play Hearthstone for the Tavern Brawl, and usually do my dailies in Ranked. I know I'm the minority here, ranked just is not fun to me and I'd rather do pretty much anything else, but thats already 2 days of the week where I don't play. Now there will be an entire week where I don't touch the game.
k re-read some of the comments. so they are removing regular tavern brawl when heroic tavern is in effect?
Yeah i can see why that would be unpopular.... :/ becauz like you twiz some of the others just want a usual cause tavern brawl, then this comes along, as attractive as it is, not everyone especially casuals will be able to participate :{
i do think heroic brawl with legendary reward etc is cool, but maybe they also need to take into account casual players as well they may not want to play such a competitive format, yet don't want to be left out to dry so to speak (i'm not saying give them legendary rewards easy, but at least offer the basic brawl with the usual free pack for them to play with)
