A Friendly Game of Chess is This Week's Tavern Brawl
Challenge an opponent to a game of chess! Most of your pieces will automatically attack the minion (or minions) in front of them!
Blizzard has answered the calls of the community after we asked for a brawl featuring the Chess boss in the One Night in Karazhan adventure. The brawl works exactly like the adventure boss with the difference that we now get to play against another player instead of AI.
Trivia
- This is the first time we are seeing this brawl.
- The brawl comes to us from the One Night in Karazhan Chess Boss.
- You do not gain credit for class wins in this brawl.
The Brawl
- You will either get to play as The Black King or The White King. The heroes are the same.
- Only 10 health sits on your hero, so make sure you keep up a good defense!
- You don't get to attack with the majority of your minions, they automatically attack at the end of your turn.
- Positioning is key. You'll get the best value if your minions are between his as they will hit two targets instead of one.
- If you rearrange minions by using the Castle ability. Very helpful to re-position that healer.

good thing all my effort in heroic chess pays off.
Same here, I've been a chess person for about 18 years now. I really enjoy how they've incorporated the Western chess game to virtual cards so smoothly, poetically, and with a bit of humor mixed in. It's definitely my favorite Solo Adventure and Tavern Brawl ever! :D
damn i really hate this fight at adventure nice idea blizz shiiiiiatttttt
Won my first game as black, leaving him to die to fatigue next turn, got the pack, 2 epics(200 gold), couldn't ask for more.

This is worse than randimonium!
Fucking abysmal, games take too long and even worse, at a snails pace.
Wow just wow! Game takes too long wtf? It's no longer than any normal game if anything it's shorter it's max is about 10 turns. Attention span of some people these days is just unbelievable.
It's funny how many have wanted this and now that's it is here... Well honestly I'm glad I won my first game.
Don't get me wrong I like that we have a very different tavern brawl, but I think it was more hyped to be good rather than just being good.
Played 3 games to got the win and never done it again. Can´t even farm gold or do quests.

positioning is key... except when your opponent gets a better starting hand than you, then it doesn't even matter. Pseudo chess. It's a good concept, I loved the boss fight where you place your minions on one side to get one benefit and the other for another benefit, but this chess game is utter garbage for the way hearthstone is set up and meant to be played. I hope to never see this tavern brawl again, perhaps the most annoying one yet. The concept of unit positioning giving an advantageous play is a good one, it's just poorly executed in this format with chess pieces that automatically attack
This is the first time a brawl made me re-roll the "5 Brawl" quest.
Don't really think they thought this one through too much... It's not 10 health vs 10 health, because if the white king gets a pawn on the board on his first turn it instantly becomes 10 to 9 with the black king being able to do nothing. Even after WK's first turn it's unbalanced as the pawn(s) that BK puts down on turn 1 attack the WK's pawn.
Got my pack and moved on. Least I didn't keep that 5 brawl win daily...
Managed to clutch a victory.
I lost my knights and queen, but I managed to score some hits and stalled with my bishops and pawns, and fatigued my opponent to death.
Please Blizzard, give the pack to everyone or many people with no skill such as me won't have their pack this week :(
It is the same RNG BS as randemonium. You play on curve and draw the right pieces … you win. Once you draw something unplayable … you lose. Coin flipping would be more entertaining. And you can't even do quests with it.
I like this brawl as you basically can see who is playing brainless and who is playing by thinking. Won my very first game just because my opponent played a whole lot of chessdudes without caring about positioning and value
Total bullshit.
