Showdown in the Badlands Card List & Expansion Guide

well, its just not...that good.
This will be best in Highlander Paladin as Lightray and Living Horizon are the only class options so far. With Lightray, you can even pick another elemental to summon and play the Lightray for 0.
With Spirit of the Badlands, the deck is also based around value and a bit of tempo.
Can you elaborate? The Reno meta is never the same because all the Reno cards did different things. What is so bad about it lol. And the decks are generally value decks. What do they actually do that makes it a bad meta?
Reno meta’s are infinitely better than oppressive otk metas.
there hasn't been an oppressive otk meta since the year of the raven and in that meta, the more oppressive decks were by far all of the 'cheat out big taunt minion, then revive it over and over and summon a board of 40 mana worth of taunts with deathrattles 2-3 times a game' ones.
The reno mechanic is terrible for the game for many reasons. I'll name a few. 1: Reno decks typically spam class legendaries and are consistently the most expensive decks to craft in the game. 2: Reno decks have very little to no originality or variability when you deck build. It takes 5 minutes to make the perfect reno list. You just make a deck of 30 cards and pick one of each of the best individual value cards, removal and card draw your class has access to. They always have the exact same strategy and every game with them plays out exactly the same. If you try to iterate your deck and make it do something different from the most popular strategy, your winrate will plummet much faster than building a deck with duplicates. The 'restriction' essentially just restricts your ability to make an original deck and despite what the reno enjoyers all say, you don't need to 'severely weaken' any current midranged/control deck by making it no duplicates with how large the card pool currently is. And 3: Reno decks are frustrating to play against because if you try to play optimally, you have to play around twice as much potential removal which is usually impossible, which makes it so your game plan is just 'well I guess I'll just go face every turn and try to kill him before turn 8 and hope he doesn't have X card'. (not to mention how anti-fun, uninteractable and oppressive the reno hero card's battlecry is..)
So sick of this dogshit mechanic. 0 idea why people like it. Blizzard just prints this shit every 3 or so years when they run out of ideas because they effectively have to design 1 card per class instead of having to come up with a roster of cards that create a new deck.
If reno is actually meta I'm out. I've been around a reno meta before and it's the worst.
Ty. You can uninstall now.
reno has been the meta all expansion. More than 2/3 of my matches are vs that crap. Where have you been?
Cool. Just what the game needs: MORE reno synergy. Idk about you guys, but I'm floating around plat-diamond. Everyone whines about naga demon hunter. Ive gone against that deck maybe 4 times this entire expansion, but over 2/3 of EVERY game ive played this expansion has been vs a reno deck. On top of that, a third of those games were 40 card reno renathol decks... The reno 'deck-building restriction' isnt enough of a restriction. The game has been 'play mid-ranged/control all game using a deck of low-synergy high impact cards and then utilize your colossal minion/titan/other copy paste late game legendary strategy in a more efficient way than your opponent can play theirs.' The reno mechanic works into that game-plan perfectly so you effectively lose nothing with most strategies by running 1 copy of each card. All it does is restrict deck creativity and meme deck viability. So bored of this mechanic and my most played deck this expansion is reno hunter...
This effect is going to get nerfed so quick, people are going to get so frustrated when the excavate version high rolls too consistently.
As a 7 mana battlecry with requirement, its fine
That's very underwhelming for a singleton payoff. Even with discover you're unlikely to get something great, a lot of elementals are small and have below average stats, not what you want on turn 7, not to mention how common it is for singleton decks to have a near full hand on turn 7.
The entire highlander concept appears bad gameplay to me. It mainly relies on "lol my synergy is more or less terrible but most of my cards are broken-OP". It's probably a scheme to profit from new accounts; it's approximately impossible for a new account to naturally build the best highlander decks even if they pay reasonable money on regular services; they'll have to manually-buy dozens upon dozens of packs from multiple expansions to do it.
On paper, this card seems really fun for Elemental Shaman in standard - since it gives you 3 turns of elementals. Card quality on elementals is actually very high right now!
In practice, it is 7 mana in a singleton deck. You really don't want to miss playing an elemental a turn as Shaman, so probably you will want to play this around 8 or 9.
I wish it was a 6/7 or a 7/7. 5/6 is a very weak statline.
PREACH
I don't see it create new Highlander decks but in decks that already exist and get created due to this miniset I wouldnt rule it out yes abit of RNG but it's after all a "Discover" effect so you will get three choices I would say the chances are fairly good at least one will be a decent sized minion for the board and you get the two others aswell.
No you don't get three choices. It is only one choice out of three cards and you keep the other two
Who is the genius that made that 3 mana bullshit that you can get from RNG and put it in the same game as this 7 mana card with a big requirement? Fire his ass, ty.
I want a slower meta! Enough with the aggro and face decks!
Considering the elemental pool, I doubt it would see play.
7 mana 5/6 + let's say 4/4 + a card... I am not impressed. Maybe in the next 4-set standard as 30ish card in singleton decks.
Worst case you get Bubbler, Mistake and Emerald Skytalon Best case you get Ragnaros the Firelord, Azerite Giant (discounted obviously) and Amalgam of the Deep. It's probably good enough to see play but It will have its challenges. I think the high-rolls will keep this seeing play though.
