After being hotly debated since being revealed, Blizzard is apparently going to hotfix The Azerite Snake. More details are coming Friday.
Quote from BlizzardHowdy partners, hope y'all are enjoying the first few days of Showdown in the Badlands! We're planning on a hotfix nerf for The Azerite Snake, as it's a clear sentiment outlier. More details to come Friday ðŸ¤
Is it going to be a decrease in amount stolen or the ole blizzard special of increasing cost.

I always try to respect the devs vision and professional experience, while appreciating any crazy new card idea that may challenge how we think this game is supposed to be played, but....
This announcement was hardly a surprise was it?
Everyone knew this card was going to get nerfed when it was first revealed. I dunno how it even made it into live untouched with everyone knowing this.
I thought card is okay first but I imagined it was battlecry lifesteal then I met this card in game as armor warrior and after 3 matches against warlock I started skipping lock matches...
Could it just be"lifesteal. Battlecry: Do 10 damage to the enemy hero'
I don't like how it currently gives no counterplay to healing/armor.
I agree with your point so much, the fact that every class but 2 genuinely has no way to interact with it whatsoever feels so bad.
My preferred change would be something like "Gain X health, deal that much damage to the enemy hero". That way you still have the chance to go above 30 health as the Warlock player, which I think is pretty cool and fun, but the opponent now has ways to interact with your combo, by healing or gaining armor.
Would be a sensible nerf, not dramatically changing the card identity. But as people are rioting out on the streets, wielding torches and pitchforks, I won't be surprised if the card will basically read "your charge minions have +1 attack" after the hotfix.
Deals 5 damage, maybe 5 damage as Lifesteal, maybe a completely different effect like "your next minion costs 5 less", maybe Thaddius gets hammered again while they are at it.
Perhaps the nerf will be very light, just so people are satisfied that something, anything has happened, but launchweek nerfs have rarely been light, and I expect the archetype will be as dead as Galakrond Shaman was
72 hoursa few weeks post release of Descent of Dragons...Edit: Mistook the patch speed with Demon Hunter hotfixes.
oh look
neutral and warlock excavate card dust refund
I hope this would be the case.
they are nerfing the excavated card, but didn't mention anything about the 7 mana legendary that people crafted for the deck.
if they touch the snake, they should refund all the warlock excavation cards as well
I know that design is difficult and balance is complicated but this was always one for the "What the deuce were they thinking?" list.
In my (admittedly limited) play experience, it's as unpleasant to play against as as you'd expect and the wins just feel cheap. They dropped the ball on this one.
Dont be excited too soon, it is a hotfix nerf, usually just the change of numbers: like stats or mana cost.... the card Battlecry effect gonna be the same...
It may also just be the quickest way to make a change, but regardless I wouldn’t expect much other than dropping how much life it steals anyway. They likely don’t have enough data yet to determine if a larger change is needed, and if so what.
You can totally change the amount of health it steals as a hotfix, it's mechanically no more complicated of a change than changing the mana cost or stats.
You’re blowing it way out of proportion. We don’t even have data on the expansion yet, but in my experience, Azerite snake is pretty mid tier. The notion that this is a new “uninteractable” wincon is ridiculous. Every hero card has been “uninteractable”. How about the Tony jailer combo that existed for two whole expansions before being nuked? My guess is you felt this way about tickatus, because Azerite snake is about the same as tickatus. It sucks to lose to it, but there is a lot you can do to improve your gameplan.
Let me guess, this sentiment is coming from highlander crybabies, right? Well, if someone hasn't figured out yet, snek lock is the only thing keeping reno decks in check, but I can't see any mentions of him in the dev comment. Anyway, looking forward to Reno, Lone Ranger crying after snek is dead.
Highlander keeps itself in check. Each deck is DOA. Plague DK would love if Highlander decks were more popular so it could rise out of the dumpster.
shaman buffs where ?
Skarr, the Catastrophe is litterally 7 mana deal 1 dmg to all enemies
Doctor Holli'dae is the weakest no duplicates card compared to other no duplicates cards
You must be playing a pretty terrible Elemental shaman deck if Skarr is that weak for you. I don't think the deck is amazing but Skarr is not a bad card at all, it just need a bit more.
I think Skarr needs to be built in a specific way - with your deck being as many Elementals which can be played on curve. Every card which isn't an Elemental or doesn't draw you Elementals is actively throwing.
This "Every turn you've played Elementals in a row" mechanic is neat, but it really constricts deckbuilding because you need to keep the chain going, and that requires making your deck as Elemental dense as possible.
Imo a change/buff they could make to Skarr is "deal damage equal to the highest amount of consecutive turns you've played an elemental", aka, his counter doesn't reset when you miss a turn of elementals, but to increase the damage you need to ramp in the background again.
eg: you play 5 turns of consecutive elementals (so deal 5 damage), but you miss a turn. Skarr remains at 5 damage, but to get to 6 damage you need to play 6 elementals in a row again. Still a slow ramp card for big board clear, same almost the same functionality, just a bit more forgiving/flexible
