The HearthPwn Tavern Is Closing Its Doors
March 23, 2013 is a date that will be hard to forget.
Almost six years ago I was brought on by Curse as the Community Manager of HearthPwn. Part of the job entailed keeping everyone up to date with the latest news out of the community, and today I am with deep regret and sadness to give you one of the final updates HearthPwn has to offer, words that are difficult to type together - we are closing the doors to our Tavern.
HearthPwn will be closing its doors on June 28, 2019, 2257 days after our journey began. It is on this day you will no longer be able to add new content to the site.
Although our doors may be closing, we’re going to keep the windows open. The history of our site, all the posts, decks, and other content we all have created over the years will be archived and still viewable to those who want to see it. Creating new content will be disabled, our news will no longer be updated.
We’ve all been through a lot together over the years and I’m going to miss delivering content to you all as fast as possible, especially the sleep-deprived card reveal periods. Our amazing deck guide writers over the years have created some of the best content this game has ever seen and educated many new players in new archetypes. I’m quite happy all that content and history will still be accessible because there’s quite a bit of unique content.
Our Fan Creations section with the weekly card design competitions has some of Hearthstone’s most dedicated fans and gave way to some of the coolest card designs and always lead to questions of “Is Blizzard crazy enough to add something like this to the game?”. Only time will ultimately tell, though considering we did end up with Genn and Baku, anything is truly possible if you set your mind to it.
Speaking of those that really put their mind to it, our wonderful selection of forum trolls. You all made us work relentlessly, testing the limits of our moderation system, but you too brought a special charm to the site. Those midday laughs when we couldn’t believe you were at it again are uncountable
I could name so many of you who have improved my life in some way through HearthPwn but I can’t do that for I fear I’d miss out on someone. Even those people I never interacted with directly, there’s a good chance I read something you posted or created and thought highly of it or had a good laugh. Thank you so much for all the heartfelt and informative messages throughout the years, you’re the reason I go through madness to make sure card reveals every expansion were delivered as fast as possible.
I’d like to invite everyone to leave a message in the comment section below. What was your favourite HearthPwn memory? I’d also like to invite you to my Discord server where we can all still keep in touch, talk Hearthstone, and go crazy with card reveals even after HearthPwn closes its doors. I'll also be around on Twitch today talking about memories with y'all.
Stay awesome,
Robert and the HearthPwn Staff
PS. Myself and the moderation team will all still be around until the end. Expect to see continued coverage of the remaining adventure chapters and more. Thank you.
PPS. We still need to declare a winner in our last ever class creation competition.
An update I'd like to add from the MTG Salvation shut down message. Like them, we are also continuing with another project. You may find the old team on Out of Cards.
Quote from Feyd_RuinThe answer to the inevitable question of why is complex, but deserves a response. Our owners have expanded on to other projects, launching such epic endeavors as D&D Beyond. As these have taken off, the development team has shifted focus and simply does not have the time and resources for us that we require. They can simply no longer justify the development, infrastructure, and maintenance costs of the site compared to their other projects.
So I've been thinking about what to really right here since I've used this site on and off for 4 years and so it means a lot to me. Some of my favorite memories is constantly refreshing the homepage whenever a card was about to be released in WotOG, the time when Hearthpwn started to fall apart completely, and the support I've gotten on my shitty decks I upload occasionally. This is the big reason why I like this site so much and some of the interactions I've had with the community have made my day.
So many people have made this site for me and from the bottom of my heart, I'm grateful for them. Thanks for the wonderful time, everybody, I'll hopefully see you all either on the discord or on out of cards.
Thanks for your six years... Good luck on another journey.
Damn, I'm really going to miss this place. Arguing about new cards being good or bad has been fun for the last few years...
You'll be missed!! Thanks a lot for all the hard work for the HS community!! <3
I loved the pack opening part of the site... will there be one on the new site?
Damn, this is sad news, any good website as a replacement ? :/
Outof.Cards
dont go for new sites, find existing ones..

:(
Sad :(
Sad to see Hearthpwn go. It was my 1st Hearthstone community, and it was good company for more than two years.
A place where members could come for laughs and cries, thoughtful discussion and trolling, advice, support, sometimes sarcasm and sometimes sympathy... a bit of salt and a bit of pepper, really. But there is, in fact, more pepper than salt... you know what I mean ;)
Thanks to Flux and all the team for their efforts, and good luck with their new endeavor!
Damn, that sucks. Good luck with the new website!
Hi there!
I've been playing for 3~4 years and I've been using this website for 3 maybe.
You were since my reference for info and salt regarding hearthstone.
For my position against nerfs I've been reprehended 2 times by the moderators but I may have deserved it... :)
I think you do a wonderful job, and if I still play and put money in this game, is also because of this site.
I remember the constant refresh of page when the expansions come out and to make sure that something regarding hearthstone was true by looking here (before going to blizzard even).
Much respect to all the team, and many successes in the next project. I'll still be consulting this site until it goes down, but the register in your new project is already done, so, not a farewell, but a see you later ;)
All the best, keep up the great work
Don't know if I have a best memory as such, but I've been using the site since the launch of Hearthstone and I'm really quite sad to see it go.
Probably my favorite memory here at HearthPwn is when I was deep into the Frozen Throne adventure. I wanted to beat the Lich king with all the classes to get Arthus. I had no idea where to start. JK! I knew to start here!
I managed to find several decent Murloc decks that could aggro down the Lich King, as well as a combo priest and 4 horsemen deck. And in my last match against the Lich King, I pulled off the 4 horsemen combo for the first time ever! A fitting way to defeat the Lich King and bring back Arthus.
If this place didn't exist, I might have just given up. I'm really sad to see this place go. This website has been THE place for all my Hearthstone news and info. Thanks for being here all these years <3
Thank you 🖤,Press F.
If anyone would like to stay in contact, I have space on my Bnet friends list still, and I'm not adverse to trading emails with some of you guys as well.
Just drop me a msg or something.
I've only been on the site for a few months but I'll be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my short stay.
Good luck to every member :)
Will the forums still be available to use? And if so will there be mods?
The site is completely shutting down and being archived. The only thing you will be able to do is view content.
Come hang out on Out of Cards!
