The mode is litterely called "Book of Heroes", so ofcourse the Story is supposed to play a bigger role than the gameplay. And some of the fights were pretty unique and flavorfull.
Regarding Duels, one of the things that I think players misunderstand is when a game mode isn't as popular as Standard or Battlegrounds, there's this perception that it's dead. But there were a million games of that game mode played yesterday! That's taking Duels as an example—it's a huge amount of games played. Obviously, our premier modes, which I'd say are Standard and Battlegrounds, are the dominant modes—but Arena, Wild, and Duels all have healthy player bases, they're just obviously not the same size.
It's not on the card to make it not more complicated than it needs to be. "Deal 1 damage to all minions 30 times or until a minion dies" just doesn't sound as good. Adding so much text only because of a case that happens in 0.00001% of all games just isn't worth it.
Was that sarcastic because Mage just got a new skin and you belive they had enough? If that's the case then you opinion is unjustified because the newest Mage Hero before Kelthuzard was Khadgar which is even older than the newest Rogue Hero.

Tickatus is one of my favorite cards because I love burning my opponents 16-attack kingsbanes and their wretched tillers. Sorry bro but f**k your deck that you copy and pasted off the internet. Specifically why I play tickatus, so I can watch my brain dead opponents playing rez priest cry when I burn their spell stone and 9 mana rez card (forgot the name). And most of the time he doesn’t win the game on the spot against a control deck, more against a combo deck that has combo pieces in which case, that is exactly what tickatus’s effect is supposed to be, a combo tech in a strong control deck; which is control’s weakness. and I think he accomplishes that role brilliantly. One of my favorite cards hands down, next to lorewalker cho and nozdormu (the classic). People that say he’s bad design dont understand design, especially if their argument is that he’s an anti-control card.
"Illucia is mean. I've answered questions like this previously but it's just finding a balance. Some people literally play Hearthstone to cackle and do mean things like Illucia or Tickatus. We make those cards for them. (Source)
The hope is that the niche of players who absolutely love that stuff can do it, but it's a low enough power level that it's not taking over all of Hearthstone. I think the world where Illucia is the best card in Hearthstone is a world we've messed up. (Source)"

The only "free dust" you get is by receiving the free core set. There is no other way to get dust without a downside

Except that even a spell related shaman decks plays minions and/or has totems on the board, so they still gain an effect out of the totem.

Probably because they didn't liked that it was a dead minion in non-damage spells related decks.

Hearthstone actually lost the "Heroes of Warcraft" sub-title between Karazhan and MtG

Q&A's are much more interesting if you ask something they havn't answered countless times before.

Probably part of the lunar new year event, but the timing and missing skin bundles are weird. So they probably launched that quest line too early.
