posted a message on Quest Warrior is stupidly broken

Just checked up my stats on Hearthstone Deck Tracker on my ranked games this season - only made it to r3 before I had to go away at the end of the month.

Games vs warrior: 32, of which when I inspect the individual games and see what deck they were playing, 11 played Fire Plume's Heart. I won 10 of those games. The one I lost I threatened lethal on board and his hero power won a 50/50 flip to take out my Arcane Giant. Don't get me wrong, I know the sample size isn't very relevant and also the winrate would inevitably go down a bit vs higher ranked players (although saying that I'm not sure it's very easy to make mistakes as quest warrior at any rank... :P), but even so, it's definitely a stomp match-up for our moulin rouge.

I think the bigger problem is still that 21 of those damn games were vs Pirate Warrior... #nerfweapons

If you seek the hard counter to quest warrior, as someone previously said (although a tad flippantly), Miracle Plant Rouge is what you want. The one with Sherazin, Corpse Flower and Arcane Giants.

You still have to play well as the rogue, utilizing Hallucination skillfully and knowing when to go all in with your board/drawing through your deck; but if you do, you should win 9 times out of 10, no exaggeration.

Guys, guys, guys. I feel like I made myself pretty clear. I'm not butthurt at 'being hard countered' and I wasn't crying about losing. I'm a total butterfly who plays a lot of decks so it's no big deal for me to swap off - but before I made that decision I just wanted to see if I was missing an obvious solution. Which I was. So here I am now playing the version with infinite fireballs - thanks to those who suggested that without being total dicks about it.

Thanks for the response. Your sense of schadenfreude is misinformed though - I am a long term player of the game who enjoys playing all decks. So if you think you're rubbing my nose in it, you are wrong. So far this xpac I've mainly been playing Quest/Miracle rogue and killing people by t6.

In future, I recommend not posting if you have nothing to say.

posted a message on Quest Mage vs quest Warrior

    Hello,

I've been playing a lot of Quest mage today (the arcane giants build rather than infinite fireballs), and the games have been a lot of fun. It feels like Reno never rotated, as this has the same vibe as Renomage to me, a deck I thought I would miss in Un Goro.

That was until I faced a taunt warrior. Never felt so hard countered in my life. Soon as I saw him play the quest I realised I had no win condition, and my stall was ineffective. Now, I don't mind a little rock/paper/scissors in this game, but when every game already feels like a crazy 30 card struggle to actually pull off a win, I find it unacceptable that the deck also has a HARD counter in the pool (even if a bot was pilotting the warrior in this case, I think it still wins). If that's the case, I'm going straight back to abusing ladder with Miracle Rogue.

Before I do that, though, I thought I'd put it to the community here for suggestions - is there some obvious way to deal with them that I am missing? Any tech advice would be much appreciated. Seems a shame to relegate the deck to the dumpster just because of this.

I would murder inferior race that plays pirate warrior even after Un'Goro. Not even joking, would kill them all

SO much this. Can't even comprehend why you login to play the same deck that everyone's been playing the past 3 months just to fuck with people trying new things.
The guys that heroic strike on 2 mana are bots, right? I still lose to them. Multiple legend rogue player.

This deck truly is the cure for pirate warriors. Play it and you won't meet a single one! >.<

My ladder experience since the nerfs is absolutely horrible. Jade, jade, jade. Shaman or Druid, doesn't seem to matter which. Now with absolutely no counterplay possible whatsoever. It even shits on rogue if it draws its mulches. Who designed that crap?

The wording of Ethereal Peddler makes playing 'thief' decks vs other Rogues feel like complete bullshit from the get-go.

I crafted a Thief/Stealth/Jade aggro deck at the start of Gadge just to throw people a curved ball every now and then and have some fun with new 'unplayable' cards (the deck proved ok, about 50% win rate), but it definitely lost about 70%+ of the time to other Rogues. There's just no logic to not receiving a discount on your randomly generated 'stolen' cards in the mirror.

I stopped playing the deck largely due to that. Just like how Rez Priest unfairly got boned by Hex, it made the entire deck feel no fun at all.

    Questing Miracle is dead.

Malygos, Leeroy Miracle, Southsea Miracle, Oil-style Miracle all might stand a chance at resurgence.

It's your job, as the player, to play around with things until you find what works.

Although it seems immediately obvious that the loss of Conceal is what would gut Miracle Rogue (in which case, I agree, it'd only be the Questing version really taking the hit)... the true loss is Azure Drake
It was pretty much the only no-brainer tempo card rogue had (except perhaps Tomb Pillagers). It cycled. Its spellpower was particularly effective for Rogue due to Backstab and Preparation. Hundreds of my games involved playing a very passive start in to some sort of greedy Azure Drake comeback play which could begin to snowball the game back in my favour.
As a guy who has taken Miracle Rogue to legend as both Malygos and Piracle (before and after Gadge release) and whose only golden hero is Rogue, I have to agree... without either conceal or the azure drakes it probably is on the ropes. But, who cares, let's see what fun stuff the new xpac brings!

posted a message on If you recently crafted Ragnaros, you've been had....

I crafted golden Rag AND Sylvanas not long ago safe in the knowledge that they would either continue to be totally cookie cutter in many control/tempo decks for a long time (and therefore provide me long-lasting shiny value), or would be nerfed and be worth 3200 dust each again. Win-win.

    Well, fuck.

Edit: Just realised OP is indeed having a whinge about nothing. Gonna be quids in. Also crafted 2 Azure Drakes at the same time. Clearly need hiring to Blizz' balance team.

    Patches is next.

posted a message on Question about Reno Mage

I think you need to link your list for this question to have any meaning. I for example have a score of 8-4 (67%, but small sample) vs priests but my Reno Mage list is closer to the old style of grinder Mage, a deck I was already quite familiar with.

If your list is heavily teched to beat aggro (sounds like it might be), then you probably just can't beat priests.

If your list is grinder/value centred then the answer is greed. Be greedy. Try to only play Kazakus/other discover cards with Brann.

Vague answers but it's not possible to be more specific without seeing your list.

Well, why don't I see people complain about 4 Mana 7/7,

I believe that is probably the most complained about thing in this entire game. You ever heard about Godwin's law? It suggests that any online argument can and will (given enough time) deteriorate to the point where an absurd Hitler comparison is made. It's the same shit for hearthstone, only that every argument ends in an entirely irrelevant citation of fucking Flamewreathed Faceless. Perhaps not in this exact thread (but, you know, also repeatedly in this thread if you read through it), but literally anywhere else on the internet/this website. I think you need to have your eyes checked.

posted a message on Shaman is too good.

I nearly made this exact thread earlier, lmao, sat searching 'Shaman broken' on these forums to see if other people were also fucking sick of it. I hate them. They do everything, their versatility is unrivalled, they play themselves (playing a 2 mana 3/4 on curve is always correct)... everything about Shaman is toxic, right down to the fact that all 3 decks (Aggro/Midrange/Control) play out the same openers. Tunnel trogg, Totem Golem, Feral Spirit. You don't even know what you're up against until you play in to a big board clear or just outright lose (Ok so pirates will usually give Aggro Sham away pretty easily but I hope you get my point). I got legend last season with Pirate Shaman because I'd be fucking stupid not to.

200 games in and my tracker told me well over 40% of the meta was Shaman. After a counter to the popular aggro lists? You guessed it, Shaman. Aggro shaman > Pirate Warrior, Control Shaman > Aggro Shaman. People were playing Shaman to counter Shaman because the ladder was so full of Sham(en?) which unfortunately just clogged the world up with... even more Sham(en). Shaman. Shaman. Shaman... Shaman.

Maybe I was less active on the ladder in some of the earlier metas with their own obvious villains (Undertaker, Secret paladin etc). I certainly wasn't serious enough to run Deck Trackers back then. Even so, it never felt like Secret Paladin was literally over 40% of my matches.

    Shaman.

Thanks for the indepth reply. I'm gonna have to rain on your parade somewhat and say... yeah, I know how to use early game cards and combos - what I'm not quite so good at is drawing all of these cards when I need them. Leeroy/Auctioneer starting hands are quite common. Game after game of not drawing a pirate (or worse, drawing patches) are quite common. As are coin prep no Edwin type hands. Sounds to me like you ran good. I redirect you to the following thread, where everybody voices pretty much the same opinion as myself and the author of this guide:

    http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/class-discussion/rogue/181713-what-counters-miracle-rogue#c20

Miracle rogue is unfavoured against Pirate Warrior and Aggro Shaman. Many consider Pirate Warrior a hard counter. Of course, miracles are always possible.

PS Suggesting that YOU have a better chance of activating your Small-time against a Pirate Warrior is just... Yeah. Sounds like you had a lucky run. They have Nzoth first mate, Fiery War Axe and Upgrade to activate it - well over 50% chance to have 1 copy of 1 of those cards for them on turn 1. I found more often than not my t1 Small-time was dead by the end of my opponent's next turn. Nzoth, in particular, with a triggered patches (87% chance or higher for success with patches in a pirate warrior deck), will completely empty your board and usually leave you playing catch up for the rest of the game; yet you suggest racing a guy with a developed weapon, a board, and minions with higher hp than yours have on curve (3 drops have 3/4 and 2/4 respectively, compared to your 3/3s). If it sounds like I'm being defeatist, well, I already admitted to having a somewhat unlucky time vs them. Even so, them having an aggressive start with their 8+ 1 drops vs your 4 1 drops is likely. The way your decks are built simply shows that in a face race they have the better, more efficient tools, while you have a much, much higher chance of drawing dead cards - 2 x Auctioneers, 2 x Azure Drake, Preps/Coins which will not cycle effectively with Auctioneer as the game is decided by t6.

Your post boiled down to 'just have everything you need, soon as you need it, and run in to opponents with slow hands!!'

It's statistically unlikely to fulfill your criteria!
