Blizzard uses hidden MMR for 2 things, matchmaking for legend players and determining legend rank. Everybody else use star ranking, but legend players can be matched with non-legend if their hidden MMR match, all the way down to rank 25 ad the video above shows

You forgot casual. That also has hidden mmr
Yes, I focussed on ranked. I think even Tavern brawl has hidden MMR
That's kind of cool actually - I wonder if the TB MMR is specifically for TB, or uses the casual one (which it could, if the devs were feeling lazy). :-P

Got to agree with 9k, I rarely ever saw Southsea Captain played until Patches was brought into the game. The only three cards I would see in decks that played Pirates, which didn't have the usual Pirate synergy (Priest, Druid, Warlock) were Bloodsail Corsair and Patches, or Southsea Captain and Patches. Kinda hinting at Patches may be the problem in the equation. Does that mean Bloodsail Corsair that drew out a Patches should also be nerfed? I don't think so.

I get your reasoning here - but by that logic, it would also mean that Bloodsail and Patches was overpowered (which obviously it wasn't in the slightest). Which to me hints that Patches wasn't the problem after all.

Zoolock does get a nice boost because people mulligan poorly vs them expecting a control list.

     This is true.

I would expect to see a swathe of DoomCube decks more than the late-game Control variant. The doom one is definitely a lot stronger overall (if the cubes dont get silenced and the weapon doesn't get removed - in fairness, hardly anybody is actually running weapon removal right now.
I've seen it once or twice, but thats it.

If yuo are seriously seeing a mad flux of Warlocks, just play Hunter Aggro (Beast). They can't buy a win against that deck.
    I'm not exggerating either, honestly.

Of the 80-90 games I played with the deck last season, the only Warlock decks that could ever beat it were ZooLock (who can sometimes out tempo you).

Beware of Tempo Mages though. That deck is disgustingly strong against minion aggro decks.

    Fair enough.
So basically, going by what you are saying, if we ever see a deck with Pirates on the ladder that includes the Captain without Patches, I'm right, and if not then I'm wrong, because apparently Patches is the only thing that made the Captain worth playing.
    Got it.

I always find this part of the month is so weird and frustrating. You get such a strange mash up of decks, that it basically feels like a mad free-for-all scramble to get back to the upper echelons...

Looking forward to seeing Blizzard create a new 3-cost card:
    3/3 - Battlecry: Recruit a 1/1 beast. All beasts have +1/+1
And then see people whining about how Stonetusk Boar is the "OP" card! XD

Because that is basically the same effect as the Captain is currently.
But I bet somebody will try and argue the toss about that, too. ^_^

That is literally a point that i made on page one of this thread, which you refuted. Your lacking ability to see the flaws and contradictions in your logic is astonishing.
The captain does not have the effect ypu say, though - patches gives it to him! Which is why patches is a busted ass card :)
Uh-huh! And now you're just outright lying! XD
    You said, and I quote:
So if I were to add "battlecry: summon a stonetusk boar" to let's say carrion grub, that would not make carrion grub a stronger card?

Which (of course it would, but that's a hideously bad comparison) is quite obviously completely different to what I just explained. I even replied to that right at the start and clearly explained the common sense of where your analogy was totally wrong:
For that to be a consideration, you would have to claim that the Captain's text states something like :
Battlecry - summon Patches from your deck
    Which obviously it doesn't.
I even went on to succinctly provide a much more realistic comparison (like my one above) with a more reasonable example / analogy and yet you appeared not to have an answer for that. So don't come here with "Oh, this is what I said right from the start", because you and I both know (and I've just shown) that's a bare-faced lie.
You're flip-flopping all over again! This is the point I've been making from the start. You can't even keep to your own standpoints. That's why you're not getting anywhere in this conversation.
And no, as I've repeatedly said before, Patches doesn't give anything to the Captain that he didn't already have. Patches is not a "buff". He doesn't increase the Captain's stats. It's the other way around. ... AGAIN...  The Captain gives the boost to Patches. You sound like you've never even seen the card before. It's so bizarre!
You know what, never mind. You're obviously never going to get it and are sold on this completely incorreect notion. /smh
    I'm done...

posted a message on Nerfs: Will Blizzard Ever Learn How to do them Right

I completely agree with the comment about Wild. It was intended to be power-mad and full of crazy cards and combos.

I seriously can't believe there are people actually complaining about Wild being unfair and unbalanced - and forcing Blizzard to change cards that should never have been changed in the first place. Relegating to HoF is such a better idea than makling the cards unplayable anywhere.

posted a message on it was meant to be fun..

Interesting to see that only 1 of the top 3 cards in the poll received a nerf, and it got nerfed beyond bad wherease the other two were completely left at full strength.
Voidlord in particular is a real surprise to remain as powerful as it is.
