Heyo friendos! I run a series that talks about all things gaming and pop culture! Since Journey to Un'goro is coming soon, I thought it'd be a great time to look back at Hearthstone's success as a digital card game so this week, we talk about the characteristics of what makes a great digital CCG, how Hearthstone changed the genre, and how other games have followed suit.
"The titans sent twenty of their Mountain Giants against Soggoth. Of those twenty giants, only one survived. The tablets say that Kronn, the largest of the stone giants, allowed himself to be entangled by Soggoth's tendrils -- just long enough to be lifted close enough to the creature's skull and within reach of Kronn's mighty sword." - Wowpedia
The Hearthstone version looks like it can't even survive two giants.
Control has a hard time dealing with this since most of their efficient removal are spells and weapons. Not even a fully charged Gorehowl will kill it. Will probably almost always 2-for-1 in slower match-ups. Could also be completely unusable.
People judging this card as if it were designed as a board wipe. This is an activator, friends. There are probably going to be more warlock cards like Watcher that synergize with self-damage.
All points are valid but considering that Paladin was essentially a dead class before Mysterious Challenger dropped, its a refreshing change of pace in the meta. That's what a meta is, ever changing. It may be OP now but it may die when Standard comes.
Why not play counter decks like Freeze Mage and farm all the Paladins instead? Isn't it easier to take advantage of Secret Paladin's weaknesses than brute force yourself into playing decks with bad match-ups or bad tech against it?

Spent a solid minute hysterically laughing when I realized this card exists.

Might be a staple in wild since midrange Hunters already run Webspinner, Haunted Creeper, Piloted Shredder, and Savannah Highmane. Sludge Belcher too in edge cases.

Aside from the psychological profiles, zoo, ramp, aggro, control, mid-range, tempo.. these are all Magic jargon used to categorize decks as well.
Let's just all call that one deck archetype "warlock that summons lots of sticky minions deck" to be original from MtG then.

Well for one thing, that's going as a one-off in Reno Warrior.

I've experienced that almost everybody BMs at rank 15 and below compared to rank 5 upwards. Plebs letting off steam through BM? Kappa
