What if other card games operated like this? Imagine if every few weeks you had to take your Magic cards into a dealer to get them buffed & nerfed because the way they printed the cards from the jump was garbage.
Going first is only an advantage if you make good use of the first few turns. After that, the person going second will start countering every strategy you try to employ, especially if they are familiar with the deck you are playing. At that point, I would rather go second than guess what their next move is going to be.
While I don't agree with your solution, I agree that it sometimes feels frustrating to climb from Diamond 5 to Legend in Standard. I know I could save a lot of time by playing Wild with a broken deck. Perhaps the Wild format should grant Wild packs, and Standard should grant Standard packs?
I believe people are overlooking the significance of aesthetics for the brand, not just for appearance. Saying that you don't care and can't remember the last time you looked at the board is like saying "I don't care what my cheeseburger is wrapped in. I can't remember the last time I looked at a wrapper." It's true. But if McDonald’s started wrapping their burgers in old newspapers, you'd probably be a little surprised. And no, that wouldn't be a good sign for McDonald’s as a whole.
I think what they’ve got going on is with all the interactions of these newer cards, it’s created a nightmare of coding that they did all of it on the old boards, and you would have to go back in and make every card interact properly with the new board. But that’s not an excuse. If it was a free game from a company nobody heard of that's one thing, when it’s Blizzard & they charge you $50 for a couple of signature cards, yeah, you damn well better bite the bullet, pony up the cash, and make the new board. Otherwise, you won’t have a problem with the next expansion as there won’t be anybody left to play.
Bait & switch is exactly right. Paid for Leeroy and the mega bundle to play Paladin for less than 5 days. Tease cards coming out for months, Blizzard get the cash, then say “you didn’t really think we were going to let handbuff be good for once in all the 10 years we’ve tried this did you?” Ya bastads.
Want to join the lawsuit. Paid for Leeroy and the mega bundle to play Paladin, but nerfs limit playtime to ~5 days. Paladin is the least played class in the game now. Not what I signed up for. Feeling misled and frustrated. Don't want to play a different class. This is BS.
Like any company they don’t continue if they don’t make money. The first thing you point out is your a F2P player, but Blizz wants you to be frustrated and subsequently buy something.... The idea is that after playing Wild long enough you’ll either 1) Invest enough money to have a couple decent standard decks or 2) Play a different game (may we suggest one of our many Activision titles...). My point is just that if you’re looking for Blizzard to “fix” Wild, you’ve basically made the case for them as to why they won’t... it’s not a very good financial decision to invest that effort so you continue to bot pay for anything... originally the idea was to keep Wild “fixed” but get you to buy things by offering cards with adventures that you’d hate to play without... they switched more to a “let it go to Hell and they’ll play standard” philosophy, but I have a feeling they’re going to switch back to what you’re more accustomed to which is a more balanced Wild, but cards on adventures that you basically have to buy the adventure or you’re missing the key component to several top tier decks... either way though they’ll get you to eventually pay. And we can’t hate them for that... if they didn’t make money the games we know and love like WoW, HS and even CoD wouldn’t continue on... and a world without some of our favorite games would be awful. WoW specifically has gotten me and many others through some tough times by being able to disconnect to a fantasy world for awhile. IRL I may need heart surgery and my dad passed away but in the game I’m a Holy Paladin. I can survive anything , I can rez... I think those things are more important than ppl think. Haven’t we all had dreams of being our character at night...? That’s worth a few bucks if you ask me.
