have a low-mana drop, though I could see being tempted by War Golem. ;)
I wondered a little about Pick #16 also, but frankly, Shrinkmeister isn't worth that much unless you have synergy with low-target removal cards such as Shadow Word: Pain, which you don't have anyway, so going for Holy Nova should be OK.
For one, he did have a Shadow Word: Pain already. But I cannot stress enough how good Shrinkmeister is in Arena. To think of him as a mere combo tool for Priest abilities is so wrong. You should rather think of him as a Yeti with the DID's Battelcry: optimal body for its mana cost and huge upside on top of that. That's how good he is.
Truluste:
I must be blind. Seqenere does indeed have a Shadow Word: Pain, making the Shrinkmeister a great choice. My bad. :(
I like your choices. The only one I might have challenged HearthArena a little on would be Pick #8:Force-Tank MAX.
As to Pick #2, I understand why going with Thoughtsteal isn't bad. It helps you to one-up almost every other class in the early game should you not have a low-mana drop, though I could see being tempted by War Golem. ;)

You should do well with this deck. Looking forward to your Arena run results. :)
Really enjoying this thread, especially since I often question many of my Arena choices also.
I consider myself a lower-than-average Arena player, mostly because I like having certain kinds of constructed decks.
The interesting thing about Arena is that it kind of FORCES you to learn all of the cards in all areas and consider alternate choices.
Your Priest Arena deck looks pretty solid, despite not having a lot of singular cards like Velen's Chosen, Lightwell or Lightspawn. But that is just the luck of the draw, LOL.
Props to you, Seqenere, for starting this thread.
Will watch with interest to see how your latest run goes, particularly as Priest is my favorite class.
Suck it up, and learn how to play Hearthstone, GP is part of it, just like other challenging cards are (ie: Ragnaros the Firelord).
Pretty hard to play around a coin flip.
Coin flips go both ways ;)
And can't be played around either way. wee.
pox:
...Seriously. You're kidding, right (?)
Umm....*CAN BE PLAYED AROUND/CONTAINED*....EASILY.
You (seem to) overlook that Grim Patron can only be played/duplicated effectively (for value) at around Turn 6 or 7, at a minimum.
If it is played out at Turn #5, it becomes an IMMEDIATE TARGET for any player who has lost to this minion or has even REMOTELY studied how dangerous it is.
Off the top of my head - strategy to contain/minimize incoming GP Damage, assuming there are at least 3-4 active on the board:
PS: An HS friend of mine in Australia believed I could make legend with a GP deck after I stomped his best Paladin deck with it twice.
I reminded him GP Warrior was VERY situational, and that I just got a good draw. I was lucky, I said.
He didn't believe me, and insisted I take it on ladder so he could watch me reach legend...(yeah, right).
I DID, and then proceeded to get KILLED in 3 GAMES STRAIGHT with this deck, because *I DIDN'T DRAW THE RIGHT CARDS WHEN I NEEDED THEM*...(so yeah, this story is for you, LockHard773...)
84%+ of those polled on this topic *APPEAR* to agree with me that GP is NOT AS GOOD AS THE OP THINKS IT IS. End of story...
I cant believe this is a conversation. EVERYONE is looking for the faster OTK deck. GM decks are relatively new, but same concept. You cant just nerf cards cause they're kicking your butt. Get better at the game. Tweak your deck. If you have to, steal someone else's from here. Everyone else does. It's all part of the game.
wacky:
I wouldn't call this a conversation either. More like a whine/snoozefest. :P
I would just like to point out that Commanding Shout is not actually the "problem" with Grim Patron, it's a much bigger problem with Frothing Berserker in that combo using Grim Patron as a dork to stack damage off of with something like Wild Pyromancer or double Whirlwind or cracking your Death's Bite. In fact on an empty board using your Grim Patrons, a Warsong Commander, a 1 durability Death's Bite, and two Inner Rage you can deal 26 damage without Commanding Shout for 8 mana. This is a fairly common board state with my GP warrior deck and I have most of these combo pieces in hand fairly often with the insane amount of card draw this deck has. 26 damage is also very important, which is why I run Kor'kron Elite as well for trading up in the late game or applying early pressure to my opponent to make the combo turn stronger.
Decks like that generally use Commanding Shout as a form of board clear using Grim Patrons, which is not ideal since doing that generally over-crowds your board with Patrons without going for lethal and makes you open to weaker board sweeps like Consecration or Holy Nova since your additional patrons won't spawn properly and will probably kill your Warsong Commander too for no additional cost to your opponent.
Agreed, but getting all of those ideal conditions you just described doesn't happen often.
Maybe about one in every 6-8 games? Too situational to be reliable.
Glad to see there is another (fan? LOL) who appreciates the challenge of playing Grim Patron in a Warrior Deck, and also, possibly, other decks (Rogue, anyone?)
I will play you any time, if you wish to go Patron-a-Patron ! :)

Hi there:
When you have a moment, would you mind giving me the option to change my name (also? LOL)
Thanks!

Love this card, despite a number of folks asking Blizzard to nerf it. :P
Works best in Warrior, obviously, but I'm toying with using it in Rogue and Mage. ;)

Just so we are clear here, I only say "suck it up" to LAZY-ASS-PLAYERS who:
And BTW, SO WHAT if Grim Patron is a little gimmicky?
Are you saying that Dr. Boom isn't a GIMMICK?
I'll bet FUN is a GIMMICK in your world, and I'm betting MOST here don't want ANY part of that, either.

I dunno CurryKitty, I think we need to stamp out all of the chugga-chugga action going on in FreezyMechyInsertOtherAdjectivy Mage.

Fun as hell, yes, but not reliable. ;)

About Warrior Grim Patron decks in general:
It's a challenge dealing with GP decks, sure, but they are largely situational, not at all reliable to compete on ladder with.
I say this because I have TRIED to ladder with my GP deck, using most, if not all of the tools to leverage the card, with little success.
On average, I get about (maybe) 30-40% win rate with my Grim Patron deck...
There are SO many ANSWERS to handling GPs, with lots of class-specific cards that have 2-3 direct damage that can remove them.
Examples:
So, umm, my general suggestion(s) to those complaining about GP would include:
are (ie: Ragnaros the Firelord).

Interesting looking Paladin deck. :)
Will try it out and see if I can draw 1 or 2 of those critical 1-drops you will need to keep the Chromatic Drakes from hatching....;)
