Paladin was always going to have its moment (it was obvious the developers were going to make it powerful at some point when they intoduced librams - otherwise why bother).

Druid was also having a super fun time until it was nerfed (and rightly so).

But priest, which remains all powerful in resurrection form, just keeps on trolling us.

Priest was supposedly redesigned not that long ago - but all they did was remove shadow spells and replace them with tools which made the class more bland. You have one only viable archetype in resurrection (OTK is really just a meme in my opinion as it's easily countered).

The developers really screwed the redesign up and now we as players are left to play or play against one of the most boring/bland decks in Hearthstone history.

    Another wholly underwhelming expansion.

The decks being played are just the same as the last expansion with slight revisions based on power creep in the latest set of cards.

Expansions have become iterations like upgrading mobile phones. It seems we'll need to wait another few years before something worthwhile comes about.

posted a message on The Meta is sooooooo stale and boring right now

    I agree with original post.

But this is what happens after the release of every expansion.

Expansion released, overpowered decks reign supreme, balances changes are made, meta stabilises, same decks are played over and over and over and over until the next expansion is released. New expansion is released, repeat. It's been like this since the game released.

The developers make enough cash from the game in it's current form and expansion cycle that theres no need to change it. Only when something else comes along and takes a significant amount of the market will the game change I.e. autochess.

The game is fun in its first few weeks post expansion then it becomes as stale as the inside of a packet of dry roasted peanuts. Just log on, complete your daily and spend your time elsewhere until the next expansion comes along.

galakrond rogue is an absolute joke to play against, literally no skill involved at all, just complete RNG generator and they always get ridiculous cards from their RNG its unreal, lackeys are one of the stupidest things ever to be made in this game.

     which deck requires skill?

What do you mean by skill?

Skill for me is player judgement. Back when hearthstone was released you had to really consider when to use that big game hunter or sheep. But player judgement has more or less been replaced by RNG and the fact that every class has a swiss army knife of removal.

Skill is a players ability to tweak current decks to counter what the masses are playing.

Skill is discovering new decks that other people play (I never say people create decks. We don't create decks in this game - everything has been play tested by Blizzard so we are just discovering what Blizzard already knows).

I agree that the rogue deck you mentioned is not hard to play. Player skill as outlined above isn't required to make it effective and even if you do make mistakes RNG is such a prevalent mechanism in the game that its often there to bail out bad players.

People usually consider huge combo decks hard to play I.e. Patron Warrior. But it was actually very straightforward. You stall your opponent, draw cards as fast as possible and play the combo when you had it. That's not hard. What differentiated success though was people's ability to recognise when to play certain things. Sometimes you got a suboptimal draw during the game and had to change your approach on the fly.

This game isnt a thinking mans game. It never was. And even if you have somehow constructed a truly hard deck to pilot which requires a huge level of understanding to play, chances are you'll get punished by one of the many faceroll decks that are available or the game will just fuck you up with bad RNG.

This is hands down one of the most boring decks I have ever encountered. It is painfully slow to play against and entirely predictable.

You have to be into some weird stuff if you get a thrill out of playing this nonsense.

Plays control mage - 5x gala rogue in a row.

Switches to pirate warrior to see if I get a different matchup - 4 x control priest a row.

Switches back to control mage - 4 x gala rogue.

    Coincidence?

Almost all decks being played at the moment are aggro. This makes sense as the majority of these decks can win a match by turn 6 or 7 with the player literally playing whatever they have in their hand. I have tried to counter these with control decks but even then if they have a good starting hand it’s no contest.

The problem with the current batch of aggro decks is that they have so many options. You can slow them down to a degree but they will rapidly wear you down unless you have great card draw. Face hunter for example has its side quest and minions that damage when they die (I call this autoplay damage). But they also have a variety of supporting minions and spells to get the job done even if they don’t draw the autoplay damage.

The game favours these decks at the moment because silence isn’t really a thing and is usually too expensive (as is most AOE). This in turn favours new players to the game since these decks are also often the cheapest to assemble. I have finally tried face hunter and there is nothing to it. You just throw everything onto the board and if you have a mirror matchup it’s a coin toss. Games last a few minutes which therefore means less time grinding up the ladder. Great! But it is just so mundane and brainless.

Unfortunately the game has almost always been like this and it’s never going to change.

Having played another batch of matches over the last few days I can conclude that there are no longer any significant decisions to be made when playing this game.

In the past you had to really think about when you should use that brawl, or sheep or big game hunter. It was more often than not game deciding. Nowadays there are so many options when it comes to board clears, large minion removal etc that it doesn’t matter. And even if you do use a board clear, for example, there are loads of decks which can effectively fill the board within 1 or 2 turns. So it had no real impact.

There are also no decks that I’ve played which really require any thought. Highlander, quests, sub quests, handlock, control, tempo, they all pretty much play themselves. I either win comfortably or get steamrolled. I reckon you could probably just play the left most cards every turn in certain decks and still get a 50% win rate (I.e. face hunter).

The game just feels dumbed down. And whilst there are plenty classes and decks being played, they all feel very much the same. Its starting to feel like classic wow vs retail wow but in hearthstone.
