posted a message on 2nd place bug

The Kel’Thuzad in first place big seems to be getting more and more common. I know it’s a small sample size, but I played 10 games of BG today and the bug happened 4 times. That seems to be a lot more than it used to happen when it was first getting reported about a month ago. Blizzard really needs to fix this, BG really isn’t beta anymore and they are charging for perks for it, this is unacceptable. How much different is charging for a broken game mode compared to cyberpunk that is getting CDPR a lawsuit for being broken?

Revolve, shadow word death, devolving missiles, coerce, ironbeak owl, deadly shot, subdue, corruption, plague of flames... there are cards that can deal with an early Edwin, it’s just easier to complain than run removal and mulligan for rogues.

posted a message on Are people in blizzard actually aware that the synergies in Evolve Shaman are now beyond broken and need to be fixed ASAP?

I play res priest unabashedly now. I have a positive winrate against shaman and if they win, they have to keep the pressure up much longer than normal. At the very least, I can play priest and not feel guilty.

posted a message on New to Battlegrounds.. I have a question

Look and see what tribes are present before deciding on a hero and what build to try for. If elementals and murlocs aren’t present, dragons, mechs and pirates are viable. If elementals and murlocs are present, it will likely be a competition between big elementals and poisonous murlocs. Likewise if elementals are present without murlocs, there won’t be much poison, so your 30/500 garr will probably kill their whole board. If elementals are t present, murlocs will probably be challenging pirates or dragons. Mechs, demons, pirates and menagerie are usually just ok, but if you have the right hero and minions, they can win.

I don't have a problem with this deck, it is way less opressive than midrange shaman or prenerf Galakrond era but something bugs me with this class, never in HS history shaman have a normal presence in the ladder, or is completely gone at a point you start to forgot the class even exist or infested at the point of vomit inducing.

Why shaman never hit the mid ground?

That’s easy to explain, shaman is with priest and mage in the bad classic set club. Hunter and rogue has always been meta relevant because they have great classic sets. Shaman needs strong cards printed at each set release because they have overload cards that are just horrible. Look at lightning storm, it gets used quite often despite being powercreeped by cards without an overload mechanic. To truly fix shaman, they need a classic set overhaul that includes a new mechanic.

The problem isn’t the complaining, it’s the numbers. Look at the last  VS numbers before the nerf. Shaman was still strong, it was just poorly matched against aggro DH and face hunter. After the nerf to voracious reader, the bad matchups for evolve shaman went away and now it is uncontested. The problems with all of this is the meta has really relied on two cards. Voracious reader and boggspine knuckles (or cagematch custodian). Control decks lack what they need to deal with either of these aggro strategies of board flood and see what sticks. I don’t think The voracious reader nerf was the best course of action, the remedy would have been better board resets. Priest lost mass hysteria and now has two shitty aoe spells under 7 mana. Warrior lost warpath and now has to rely heavily on brawl (which may be the best evergreen card in the game). Poor warlock went from having defile and lord Godfrey to crazed netherwing, which is conditional, not a guaranteed clear and damages the hero.

It’s really about balance and hearthstone has some busted cards that they give counters to. This whole year has been demon hunter centric and to let their new class shine, they deprived control classes of the counters they needed for it. Now that demon hunter has gotten nerfed, it’s shaman’s turn to go as wide as possible with little risk.

posted a message on What do YOU want out of the Hearthstone Meta?

I personally prefer control matchups, but the best metas in my opinion are ones where all the classes have a playable deck. This whole year demon hunter has been over the top dominant while warlock, mage, druid and priest have been hurting. I’m fine playing control in an aggro heavy meta, the problem is when they make wriggling horror and bonechewer as neutrals but none of the control classes can get a 3 damage aoe spell. That’s just poor design.

Rogue solution: cycle Ethereal Lackey early so you can fish for Togwaggle's Scheme. I had a fun game the other day where I was at a 10 card disadvantage but cycled 10+ Kronx Dragonhoofs into my deck right near fatigue.

Next turn, Galakrond + three 1 mana Kronxes. About as swingy a turn as there is.

I did something similar with my yogg quest rogue deck. Tickatus burned my deck... oops all yoggs now. A beefy togwaggle scheme in rogue goes a long way, especially with shadowstep.

On a side note, what is going on with priest identity these past expansions? The soul shard mechanic seems better suited to priest that demon hunter, cascading disaster is a priest card all the way and Ghuun is a warlock card.

Hey thanks for the reply. In playing Priest the last day or so I do feel like they are in need of a new, better clear akin to the old Duskbreaker or the new Shardshatter Mystic.  Something for 3 rather than 2 damage AOE at least.  I also agree that it seems like DH and Warlock have better healing options than Priest, which is really odd.  I found myself starving for Apotheosis and added it into the Control Rez Priest I was playing because Holy Nova and Hero Power and even Khartut wasn't cutting it.  Cascading Disaster would have been a good priest card, I agree.  I cut G'huun from my Rez list because by the time I could use him it didn't seem worth the health cost.

You pinned it down. The biggest problem with priest is that no good board clear or AOE came out this year. They can’t even kill a board with voracious reader with an AOE for less than 9 (or 7 if you two card breath and vargoth). Priest lost the big clears for them in the last cycle too. I think every priest deck I made for a year and a half had mass hysteria in it. Breath of the infinite is a pretty poor replacement.

Since the new expansion i played only once against Tickatus. Is this deck/card really so popular and a problem?

It’s more of a problem in theory that it hard counters control and combo decks and contributes to the aggro meta. The joke is that the aggro meta needs no help, it’s still bonkers even after nerfs.

Thanks for your replies!  I will try that list out and see how it goes!  Maybe with the recent nerfs I will see less DH and Hunter and Priest can do a bit better?

Priest is in between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, the aggro decks which would have been destroyed by priests of old can buff powercreeped cards so quickly that they are hard to remove by the time you can play your lackluster AOE spells. On the other hand, tickatus warlock and ETC OTK warrior are always going to beat you. The biggest problems for priest stem from the pathetic evergreen cards they have, meaning they need expansion support to do well. Priest just hasn’t gotten the cards it needs to win consistently.

On a side note, what is going on with priest identity these past expansions? The soul shard mechanic seems better suited to priest that demon hunter, cascading disaster is a priest card all the way and Ghuun is a warlock card.
