Regardless, the point here isn't the entirely free pack they are giving you for free. The point is the lore, and building the tableau. The free pack (which is free, as in free stuff) is just a perk.

Allie's reasoning for not proceeding with her card reveal today was completely sensible. Frankly, some of the reactions to this whole situation and to Allie's decision here and in other forums are the reason why the term "gamer" is becoming an unsavory term.

Fixed that for you. But more importantly, people play this game because they enjoy it. Some play it because they hate it and enjoy screaming into the void on sites like these thinking people care what they say. There are lots of reasons why people play this game. That said, it's a game, and if you don't enjoy it, and don't feel the need to scream into the void about it, perhaps you should find a game you do enjoy. After all, gaming should be a fun experience.

The reason to play this game is simple.
All games are a waste of time, but with the benefit of taking a break from reality.
I play this one because it is in front of me, I am familiar with it, and is satisfactory. I like the fact that it can be free to play if you do it right, which causes me to be a bit appreciative that I largely am a freeloader yet have every Tier 1 or Tier 2 deck I want.
For others, there preferred waste of time might be League of Legends or Fortnite or Artifact (hehe) -- or watching cable.
There is no superior "waste of time" to another.

The obvious answer to your question is that the people playing Hearthstone don't value deckbuilding and experimentation as much as you do.
Belittling people whose tastes differ from your own is rarely productive. There's nothing wrong with enjoying Hearthstone for the gameplay, the memes, the meta analysis, or any other reason.
To be honest, if all you care about is the homebrew scene, you should have quit years ago. That, or make friends with people who have similar tastes and form a homebrew league. I know those people exist because they've been posting the same tired complaints on every forum for the past seven years.

Legendaries should be 2x stronger and common + rare cards should be shit cards nobody wants to use, but they have to until they get better cards.
I could not disagree more with this take. It would take forever for new players to get a playable deck if rares and commons were bad. Plus, if legendaries were the strongest cards, every deck would be playing the same legendaries which would make the meta feel so stale. This is literally why Ragnaros and Sylvanas were hall of famed: they were solid cards that could be slotted into any deck, which made decks and classes feel less unique. Commons and rares should be the backbone of every deck. Legendaries should be interesting and unique, either a strong one-off effect, or a card you build your deck around.
To return to the subject, I started playing Hearthstone after the Old Gods expansion, so four years. In that time, Hearthstone has only gotten better IMO. Generally, metas have gotten more balanced, allowing for a greater variety of decks, and match-ups have become more equal and play out in different ways every time. To me, Hearthstone has never been more enjoyable than it is now.

I think the Trumper needs to be forgiven at times as they could be trying to complete a daily quest and need to play certain cards, kill minions etc. Sometimes you don't get the tick for a game completion if you concede too which is annoying if you're trying to 'play 3 games with x'.

Guys, luck is obviously involved but it isn't just luck. You just need to grind it out and keep going. If you get tilted stop playing. Don't concede even if it feels like the match has gone as you can often still win. And don't swap around with your decks - pick one (probably face hunter) and stick with it until you hit legend.
I've been where you are bud and you will defo get there as long as you stay consistent.

It took me 6 tries as well.
From 1 mana Alexstraza to 2 mana 2/2s - ridiculous.
For me, this one highlighted just how weak Shaman is as a class at the moment. Half the games used other class cards or OP cards you would never see in standard and it was still like pulling teeth.
Lack of card draw, forcing elementals with no consistent synergy or powerful payoff and a debilitating mechanic in overload.
I really hope the mini set has some good shaman cards or it'll stay in the dumpster which is a real shame.

The meta is fine. Nerfs are inbound. Sometimes it can be frustrating but they are proactively making changes when necessary.
Read the latest Vicious Syndicate report and you'll see how you can beat Paladin. Personally I like the more board centric games now posts and mage have been nerfed as it makes the first 5 turns far more interesting and interactive.
This isn't day one Demon Hunter, or Pirate Warrior, or Galakrond Shaman, or Odd Rogue etc etc.
If you hate Paladin run control priest.
