I haven't played HS since TESL open beta. I have no regrets as I think TESL is a far superior game, most likely being due to the fact that I'm an old-school MtG player (i.e. I love TESL's 5-color MtGesque theme). But I'm not here to bash HS, rather I am curious to hear from the players who have continued to play both: how do they currently compare?

Hansie_007 posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesI have been playing both HS and Legends since March. Over time I've started to spend more time on Legends and less time on HS. The main reason being that HS has too much RNG, too many broken cards, way too much aggro and the rewards for playing Legends are far better. (Arena rewards, daily login rewards, twitch drops, and 15+ gold and a card for three wins.) Skill is not rewarded in HS, nor are incorrect plays punished. You simply cannot win with "fun" or inventive decks any more.I will admit that I've been having some unexpected fun with the new Kobolds & Catacombs expansion, but as soon as the meta settles, I expect the same old broken decks will resurface. I am not trying to hate on HS, but even though Legends isn't nearly as popular, it is by far the superior CCG. -

thejustinlarson posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesThere are tons of other exciting things you can do in Legends. The game is balanced enough that any well built deck can succeed. Case in point:

Rusery posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesThe best thing about that game IS the rune system. If you are getting snowballed you have a decent draw and can even get stuff played that turn AND set off battlecries in the same action. Its superior to hearthstone in this respect. I personally don't enjoy the lane system much and one lane always having stealth limits design of cards in a way that they can't have too powerful of effects for the cost.

Hansie_007 posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesQuote from sweetsugardaddy >>im gonna say tesl is not a good game. i played it during the beta during my progress i actually like the game until one fucking thing made me quit the game forever and that was the prophecy mechanic, its like destiny draw from yugioh. a draw that can destroy a winning game. ive been in alots of situations where i was fucking winning. i needed 8 games to reach legend, 6 out of 8 games, i lost because of my opponents prophecy activated and most of my opponents were at critical health. pure shit mechanic.
Sure, it feels pretty bad when a prophecy prevents lethal. But the mechanic is designed to give your opponent the opportunity to potentially respond when you "go face". It also means you have to strategically think about how and when you become aggressive.Personally I'm for any mechanic that pushes skill instead of randomness. -

Sorry friend, but you're wrong... both games are building a pretty solid following. And looking at the speed at which Direwolf and Bethesda are releasing updates for Legends with new game modes, events or balancing the game, they clearly have a multi-year roadmap in mind.Legends might not be for you, and that's ok, but it's a good thing for all of us when these games are successful. Firstly, the competition is going to make these types of games more affordable, and secondly, it's going to force the teams working on ccg's to come up with more creative expansions and cards. (No more lazy card design.) -

jainaishot posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesNot sure if I can ask this here but here it goes: I recently started Legends and I'm liking it a lot thus far. Does anyone know if there is a site similar to Hearthpwn but for Legends?
But is nowhere near as fun as hearthpwn -

Hansie_007 posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesI'm just going to say that both games seem to be well worth it right now, and even if you don't like ESL, you should at least hope it thrives for the sake of Blizzard treating you better :P
I play both Hearthstone and TES:L on a daily basis. Firstly, I enjoy Legends a great deal, and the new expansion is fantastic. So I really hope the game will continue to grow and yes, because Bethesda is quite generous with their in game rewards and deals, hopefully Blizzard will follow suit. (But we can already see that Legends and Gwent are causing Blizzard to think differently, can't we?)I was frustrated with Hearthstone (non-stop aggro) for a long time, until I finally made the switch and started to play wild more than standard. My enjoyment of the game has since returned... so I also agree that at this stage, either/both games are definitely worth playing which is a good thing for all of us... -

Morkimus posted a message on Why The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a better game than HearthstonePosted in: Other GamesHeroes of Skyrim did a good job to the game for me. Asides from that BS Echo of Akatosh, things have been really interesting over there.
Also, you get one free deck with a free legendary, and can buy others for 500 gold (yes, with epics and rares, dustable if you already have the cards). And during the first week, the daily quest yielded 3 packs of the new expansion.
I wouldn't go as far as saying it is outright better than HS though. I see more potential because it hasn't deteriorated over the years with unnerfed cards like HS, but both are fun in their own way. Depends on how much you want to think too. RNG over there can fuck you up as well, and aggro is also quite rampant there, even if it can very well get punished by the rune system.
To me HS's charm is its whackiness and how unpredictable games could get if people had any balls to try new things. But for the many of you who complain about non-draw related RNG non-stop, I say give ESL a try. Much less randomness there asides from the mandatory card draw.
ESL's advantage is its age, and the ability to learn from Blizzard's past mistakes to catch up. New players in HS who don't feel like dumping a lot of money or grinding their ass off might give ESL a try with much less hesitation, at least now while there is relatively little content.
HS's advantage is Blizzard's reputation, the cartoony charm, the unpredictability and the speed. Luckily for us, new competition also means Blizzard has been improving on their interaction with the community and on their let-it-wither-for-months stance.
I'm just going to say that both games seem to be well worth it right now, and even if you don't like ESL, you should at least hope it thrives for the sake of Blizzard treating you better :P
