Lost to turn 7 Bog Creeper, turn 8 Call of the Wild, turn 9 Call of the Wild in Arena at 6/0.
Two games later at 7/1 I lost to turn 10 Pyroblast in the face, followed by turn 11 Pyroblast in the face, from exactly 20 hp...

posted a message on Doomsday Clock

    4. right now, probably a 5. before the Arena changes.

Still enjoying the game, deckbuilding, casually see how far I can get up the ladder, it's more positive than negative. Arena is actually really fun right now, you can pick something other than Mage and still get really far! There are some things that's really bothering me though.

    1. Stale meta - Tempo/Face has been dominating for soooooo long, with the occasional OTK deck thrown into the mix, and I'm really tired of it. There are so many cool cards that I would like to play with, but it's never going to happen when 90% of the cards in your deck has to be good against aggro. When will Midrange or Control players get their Tunnel Trogg? I want to go back to the days when playing cards off curve here and there didn't devastate your chances to win, and when turn 1 nothing followed by turn 2 Hero Power didn't mean you just lose the game. Having an aggressive meta is alright from time to time, but it's been aggressive forever now, it's getting boring.

    2. Few viable classes/decks - Most classes have just one or two viable archetypes/decks, if that. Rogue can only play Miracle, Priest can only play Resurrect, Hunter can only play Highmane + CotW + 26 filler cards, etc. I want to be able to play Control Rogue, or Aggro Priest, but it's just not possible, you are pigeonholed into a niche decided by the...

    3. Classic/basic set - ...which doesn't rotate. Almost 300 cards that never change, that you will be playing against until the end of time. Some of them are even strong enough to be meta-defining or have effects so crazy that they establish combos and synergies that will never go away. I want this game to evolve and change over time, and this system is holding it back.

    4. Class core mechanics/hero powers - They are just not balanced in my opinion. Shaman has a really useless hero power that is only not trash right now because of all the expansion cards that specifically interacts with totems. Warrior's armor is the only counter to OTK, and such a thing shouldn't be class specific. Rogue's hero power is stronger than most 2-drops in Arena. The list goes on.

    5. RNG - It's a card game, there is always going to be randomness involved, but things like your draws is something that you can manipulate to be better or worse, you can adapt your play based on that RNG, and it's rarely so varied that it wins or loses you the game just from a single dice roll. When Tuskarr Totemic pulls out a Totem Golem there is none of those elements, or when Yogg casts double Pyroblast in your face. It doesn't matter that the average case is balanced when the worst or best case means losing or winning the game.

    6. Solitude - For a multiplayer game, hearthstone is very lonely. Your opponents are all mostly anonymous, and there is no way to really involve your friends in the gameplay. The most interaction you get is on sites like this. Even though I rarely play MtG these days, it's still way more fun when I do because it involves human interaction.

posted a message on Trade Prince Gallywix

It was so sad to see Gallywix say goodbye without ever having a chance to shine, because Rogue lacked enough control tools (heals/taunts) to even play a midrange deck. If they ever decide to give old cards a new shot at standard, it would be a card I'd welcome.

posted a message on Fool's Bane is Great in Pirate Warrior!

Saying that you're an experienced card game player who've won stuff means about as much as the "LEGEND EZ" ^^

Would imagine that Fool's Bane is good against other board-centric decks where you need to clear their minions, since they run mostly small stuff. I don't have much experience playing with those kinds of decks against Pirate Warrior, I mostly play control, and the way aggro beats control is through constant pressure, so from my perspective it seems like a downgrade :)

Thalnos, because it's useful in so many decks and will never rotate.

Definitely an anti-aggro list, similar to Fatigue Warrior. You just survive and let the opponent run out of cards in hand. Should be really nice in this meta.

Then again, I've faced this list (or very similar) quite a bit with my heavy control decks, and my winrate against it is somewhere around 80-90%. The ones that are lost are from lucky Yoggs and very early Golden Monkeys. If/when the meta shifts to be slower, abandon this deck immediately ^^

posted a message on Fool's Bane is Great in Pirate Warrior!

Replacing Arcanite Reaper with Fool's Bane seems kinda like replacing Doomhammer in Face Shaman. Besides, Arcanite Reaper can hit minions too, and better than Fool's bane for minions between 4-5 health.

When you say that it "works really well", do you have any stats to back that up, vs the regular list?

posted a message on The "Cards I was wrong about" thread

Just looking at Karazhan, because it would take too much time to go through everything

Expected Beast Druid with Menagerie Warden to be much more popular than it turned out to be. The early game wasn't quite there, and Hunters had the late game aggro locked down.

Expected Cloaked Huntress to be everywhere and make Yogg & Load actually competitive. I do see it from time to time, but not nearly as much as I thought. Not enough card draw to go all in on secrets I suppose.

Didn't expect Babbling Book to be so popular for constructed, though I'm still not sure if it's any good at all.

Didn't expect Swashburglar to see play at all, but it's in every Rogue deck I face. Again not so sure if it's any good, I often see it grab trash.

Didn't expect Spirit Claws or Maelstrom Portal to be any good, but it turns out to be enough spell damage synergy to work... and work well. (at least against aggro, it's still crap against my control decks ^^)

Thought Medivh would be in every control deck with heavy spells. Well... apparently no such viable deck even exists. Bummer.

But a card I WASN'T wrong about was the one that 83% of this community said was at least playable, and 23% said was meta defining, while I considered it to be dust. The wonderful trash that is: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/166922-new-card-moat-lurker

posted a message on How to counter midrange Shamans?

Had luck with both Dragon Paladin and Dragon Control Warrior, both with about 70% winrate. Board clears and efficient single target removal does the job well, and they can't deal with high health minions (4+) without using at least 2 cards (or Hex). Additionally Book Wyrm has so many good targets, particularly Thunder Bluff Valiant.

    Also Harrison Jones says hi.

posted a message on Help Creating Control Warrior Deck

You can usually do almost anything with a Control Warrior deck, because the core is always the same. The spell heavy Yogg version does better against aggro but worse against control. You can opt for more armor gain plus Gorehowl against midrange. Go the dragon route with Netherspite Historian and Brann for a more minion based approach. The list goes on, and they are all viable enough to at least hit rank 5 easily.

If none of these versions work out, the problem is more likely your playstyle or the meta, not the list. The only general tip I can give is that Harrison Jones is AMAZING right now, with weapon classes dominating the meta.

posted a message on Would you consider Azure Drake to be an OP card?

I think it's above average, but not too much so. It's not powerful enough to define decks, but it's a solid filler card and empowers decks that like cheap spells.

It's perhaps a little too good for the classic set, since we'll undoubtedly see Azure Drake played until the end of times, which is bad for variety, but that might just be because draw, spell damage and 5-drops are all hard to come by.
