posted a message on Classic Hype, whats next for classic?

Rather than repeating the cycle of expansions I'd like to see developers focus on balancing the existing cards (just few changes at a time to slowly shift the balance). Otherwise we'd end up getting a second wild mode with extra steps. Transferring some of the current legacy card changes would be a solid first step (e.g. 2/3 Raid Leader). Adding expansions is fine in a long run, but the process should be really slow and approached carefully

posted a message on The weakness of Classic from the perspective of a 'new' player and a suggestion to fix it

Well if staleness is the problem

It is, but only at low ranks, I am not talking about the whole playerbase here. Every year some new overpowered decks emerge in Standard and dominate the Legend rank. However, at low ranks any epic or legendary you own can mean the difference between winning or losing which is what makes it fun. Obviously, by the time players reach Legend they should have a stable deck. This is the sort of system I was looking forward to in Classic, but the 'rank 25' point is being skipped as of now.

No. It's good that some modes require an entry fee of some sort...

I feel like my point is being misunderstood. The only entry fee to Classic as of now is measured in time, because (afaik) you can't even craft Wild cards until you have at least one of them in collection. I agree that Classic set is relatively inexpensive to unlock as card rotation is not present. However, this is exactly what is going to lead to a stale meta even at weaker ranks. And stale meta is dead meta unless there are newer players to spice it up with fresh ideas (or budget decks)

    lol

The problem lies in not just reaching level 20, but the fact that the current unlock system is far from being clear (which is not fine if new players are to try Classic as well). Not to mention there is barely any explanation about Wild and Classic inside the game which further discourages new players from trying the mode out (or from knowing what it is even). This in turn leads to shorter lifetime of Classic as I explained in the post

posted a message on The weakness of Classic from the perspective of a 'new' player and a suggestion to fix it

Long story short, I am not actually a new player, but instead quit the game years ago (stopped playing shortly after GnG came out) and came back to check out Classic. I've decided to start on a fresh account to fully experience the game once again (I hadn't progressed very far back then) with the aim of playing Classic asap. And here's where the problem lies: Classic is locked behind the wild format. The unlock condition is quite harsh, requiring you to grind a hero to level 20 and then explore the Tavern Brawls to get a Wild card. It may not seem like much to experienced players, but is just enough to prevent actual noobs from discovering the mode for a while. Playing against weak opponents with barely any non-basic cards (such as myself) is what I was especially looking forward to when I heard about Classic. No longer needing to keep up with all sorts of crazy cards from new expansions sounds appealing, right? As of now, even rank 25 is probably going to have strong and potentially meta decks even after all the veterans move closer to Legend. As a result, the mode is going to 'die' much faster as the meta is not really diverse in there.

And finally here's my idea: Classic should either be unlocked from the start or have an easier unlock condition such as unlocking all heroes. As a result, more inexperienced players are going to try out the mode sooner resulting in a healthier rank-to-deck-strength ratio. What do you think?

posted a message on [Suggestion] Hearthstone trade market

My english is not perfect so please excuse all mistakes below if there are any

Bob (who recently started to play) managed to obtain Archmage Antonidas from classic card pack. However, he does not want to play mage and needs some cards to build his dream deck. Meanwhile, his friend Nick (who's already been playing for a month) is one step away from creating his mage deck and needs Archmage Antonidas card to finish it.

In normal situation both players would have to disenchant quite a few cards to get what they want, but what if they were able to simply trade their unneeded cards instead? This is a good deal indeed, isn't it?

How would the system work in general

There are sellers who are willing to sell their card(s) as well as buyers.
Sellers can post a trading request through the market: [a card] or [a group of different cards] for [a card] or [a group of different cards] or [X gold] or [X dust].
Buyers are free to search for the card they want and obtain it according to the deal.
On top of this, you can also trade with your friends privately without the use of the market (player 1 places the cards on the right side, player 2 places something on the left side, deal!)

Trading cards for cards is pretty obvious one: you can sell a single epic for a bunch of commons and vice versa.

Trading cards for gold is a fairly interesting one as it would allow experienced players to actually get decent profits. For example, you can 1) buy a card pack; 2) sell the unneeded contents of the pack for 100 gold; 3) buy another pack and repeat. This system would greatly benefit players who aren't willing to invest large sums of money into the game.

Trading cards for dust is beneficial too. For example, you can sell a legendary for 500 dust. Not only you would get more dust than from simply disenchanting it, but the buyer would greatly bebefit as well.

    Free-to-play model issue

While market system is good and all, Blizzard still needs to earn their money somehow. The most optimal way to do so would be the following one:

The trading request can only stay in the market for a limited amount of days (this is an obvious one to prevent the market from getting cramped).
The seller can select from the following options: request stays for 12 hours at the cost of 10 gold (regardless of how many cards they sell), for 2 days at the cost of 20 gold, or for 5 days at the cost of 30 gold. (Private trade offers between friends also have a 10 gold cost for the initiator.) This may seem like a fairly small fee, considering the fact that you can sell multiple cards without limitations. However, if you go too far, the cards may end up not being selled at all == you lose gold. This way, the amount of card packs that active trade market users can afford is greatly reduced which means that impact on Blizzard's profits would be quite small. Not to mention that new as well as rotating out expansions will still force the majority of the player base to continue buying new card packs.

TLDR: a new trading system that would benefit both new and veteran players while having small impact on Blizzard's profits. This system will likely attract more players into the game and convert it into the actual trading card game.

posted a message on Denarian army emerges! (Again)

Hello, hearthpwn community. Long story short, about a year ago I created a sci-fi-themed card set called "Denarian Army". A few days ago I decided to recreate this set and include cards for the newest expansions. Only cards from standard are available for now, but gvg and naxx cards may come later too.
Enough talking, let's look at the new stuff:

    Hero and Hero Power:

    Upgraded Hero Power:

The leader of Denarian forces, Gadrian uses a wide array of weapons and cost-efficient minions. Most of his sets and sometimes even rarities are themed around something. Snapshot is a versable Hero power that can both handle weak enemy minions as well as deal damage to the face.

While this class has decent removals and powerful weapons, there is no healing at all and almost no Taunt minions. So you better get some help from neutral natives.

     Basic cards:

    Available from the start:

Through unlocks (in order of unlocking):

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

     Classic set:

    Common cards:

So, you have chosen to start the war with this class? Time to deploy our heavy units then. Also, seems like the Core decided to provide some help!

    Rare cards:

Wait. I think, we forgot something really important. How can you fight SMOrc without old good grenades? This completely random merc will help you to choose a few:

Still not enough? Check this one out too then

    Epic cards:

    Legendary card:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Blackrock Mountain Class Challenge:

The Core gave you this weapon as a reward for defeating Ragnaros the Firelord

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Grand Tournament comes. But there's just a single thing that everyone have forgotten about: invaders don't play it fair. Denarian and Core agents are among your allies already. Watch out!

    Common cards:

    Token:

     Rare cards:

     Epic cards:

     Legendary card:

Remember the Misdirection interaction? That's how this effect works basically.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    The League of Explorers:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Invasion army managed to avoid Old Gods' corruption. However, increasing strength of enemies and risk of global panic among Denarian soldiers forced the Core to use explicit measures...

    Common cards:

Mutants and cyborgs. What else do you need to have fun?

     Rare cards:

     Epic cards:

     Legendary card:

    Can summon:

I like how Blizzard starts to care about new players. My account was as good as dead because I didn't have dust, gold, packs. But now situation is finally under control. I get a lot of basic packs and save money for tgt ones. Thanks Blizzard!
