Half the game is combat.  You should not be able to skip it to gain an advantage against other players.

That's okay, let them do that, they'll never get better at placement and counterplay, and will fall to the low ranks.

posted a message on Why can't Blizzard balance hearthstone as well as WotC balances Magic the Gathering?

    Quote from Bengalaas >>

If you had played MtG at a higher level, you would have known that most of the time it's balance is laughable.

There is usually one dominating deck and maybe a couple counter decks that are designed specifically to beat that one deck, ignoring anything else. It's so bad that oftentimes the discussion is about how to get an edge in the mirrormatch, instead of vs other decks.

Blizzard doesn't balance the game as "well" as WotC. They do it better... usually.

I mentioned that. Every game probably has an optimal strategy at high-level play. The problem is that Hearthstone has that issue even on non-competitive levels. You can't just make what you think is fun and necessarily be successful with it, even at something as low as silver. In HS, I can't just decide to make a deck with just greed, greed and more greed. In MtG, even up to "casual fun tournament"-levels, you can.

Probably because Hearthstone is more accessible online, HS players have more play time, more access to stats, and dare I say it are generally smarter (jk... maybe), but it really is a matter of access. Hearthstone has a large field of competitive players because it's fun, accessible and players put the time in to play well. And still there is room to create your own deck and shoot to legend... but that kind of skill is extremely complex and hard to master.

It would be interesting if they invented another way to have different seasons in Classic, maybe rule modifications.

Eh I have around a 50/50 with aggro as it has some good aoe, the issue is more burst decks like evolve shaman and paladin.

posted a message on How Many Packs Needed to Win Hearthstone?

Yeah, I was stuck Near "oldschool" wood rank between old rank 20-14 for a couple years. nothing changed that untill I "got good" . I did that by playing arena and used HearthArena to help me construct decks. Heartharena was good because it taught me a lot of the basic concepts of card gaming to a much better level then I used to understand them. How and why reach is important, curve, the role of health recovery, draw, combos, etc etc etc. most of all, you have to play enough to know when not to overcommit, when it's worth clearing every turn or holding removal, how to read and count cards, and most importantly that the most simple rule to raise your win rate is highest tempo, all face, it's not a universal rule, but it's the majority rule so it will most often be the correct play.  It also helps knowing if you are the face or the control, and that is not always obvious. For instane Warlock face vs control can flip in a turn, because they have a lot of high tempo cards that can flip the board. ... Edit oh and new players miss lethal all the time.

    Quote from Pr1ncipe4i20 >>

Blizzard sold their game to chinese. They scrapped the hell out of it, fired good devs and made the development of the game cheap and bad. China is very known for doing that with intelectual property around the world - they copy and scrap everything they can to spend less and earn more money.
So, that actual state of the game is really trash, very bad communication, very bad devs, very bad strategies and more waste of money due all nerfs they are doing and the duplicate system.
But, duplicate system made the game easier to complete collection and some cards are actually good but still, the state of the game is bad and boring. They HOF'ed really great cards that made the players come to this game in first place due bad development and lack of good devs to think in better solutions to cards like Leeroy, Nozdormu and now, the oldest love of players, Edwin Van Cleef.
if I was you, don't spend money in bundles or shit, if u want some lvl fast buy the battle pass, achieve the levels and be happy, or just do it for free anyway and see how it goes. There are nice cheap mechanical decks to play like DH decks that can be good to a newcomer or a someone like you.
Good luck, don't be tricked by the Blizz and China Knights.

Don't be ridiculous, no such thing happened. All businesses need to have a chinese owned partner to sell in China, but they did not sell anything to china.  Activision is not Chinese owned. It is an American company. Things did change though in the sense that Blizzard is now "Blizzard Activision"

nice i will give this a try! are there any good replacements for risky skipper and ancharrr?

I would say there are none. Taking them out will severely weaken the deck. More good rush though I guess

True about aggro, but there have been a couple meta's without much aggro, or one with shaman that was basically aggro and control (WTF) but those meta's were extremely boring because a large population plays the slow control deck and games are a bit of a slog.

Wait Tickatus decks can actually win games?

It's good against warrior combo which is one of the top decks, though it doesn't always win against warrior. Other then that, I've had no issue playing against it. Considering how good warrior is can't say that it's an issue that Warlock can bit it some of the time.

posted a message on Pharaoh Cat Was Hidden Nerfed?

Also I haven't gotten him any more than normal, but when I do get him I usually play him right away. There may be a DH deck that I wouldn't play him against... like early aggro demon hunter with a lot of minions. But if it's clear they don't have a lot of cheap minions then I usually play him. DH emptying their hand and doing their damage that they were going to do any way "earlier" doesn't amount to much as they still need the refil anyway, them running short on cards and doing the damage "early" doesn't actually effect Rogue game plan much.

TBH, though I love the deck it's early tempo isn't always great. the 5/4 mummy is usually an excellent draw. Every game I've played him turn 3 so far I've won... so I think he's actually under rated... Usually I trade with him ASAP.

I actually like the time for exp, but I wish there could be some hybrid version, that also didn't encourage mindless aggro. maybe turn based instead of time based, that would actually encourage fast play and there would be less roping, but it wouldn't encourage mindless aggro, or at least not as much.... though I guess that's coming from a fast control player, my turns generally aren't much longer then any aggro player as I simply can model all the possible paths and make a decision fairly quickly.

posted a message on Is Y'shaarj a problem?

Yeah, I actually play "corrupt" warlock without Yshaarj simply because some of the corrupt cards are rather good. It's only an issue against priest. The only deck I have with him now that is any good is quest control highlander shaman which uses him as a combo finisher.
