I killed Thaurusan Turn 2 and his Wife Turn 1 with a nature build with bru'kan, Guff, and Lady Anacondra. completely free to play. if you do this combo right you go into the final fight with +8ish nature damage and can easily burst him down, I saw this thread existed before I played him, expected a challenge and was disappointed. it helped that everyone was ranged, so I didn't actually kill the Abomination until after both the Dwarves were dead.

can you say with what spells and upgrades?

I believe it was Brukan's +2 spell damage, double lightning bolt charm

Anacondra: +2 Nature Damage, +3/+10 to Trolls, Taurens, and Night Elves

Guff: +5 Spell Damage (Elite Reward).

obviously this exact setup can't be achieved every time, but You usually also don't need to kill him turn 2 before he even acts. I only felt the need to kill him so soon because I accidentally killed Moira on turn 1 by attacking her with anacondra. if you left her alive you could probably kill him much more leisurely

Why has Finkle Einhorn been replaced? is there a lore reason for this?

posted a message on problems with no managerie in last patch

I strongly disagree there was no buffs to menagerie. I had an insane build one game with the new dragon who keeps all stat buffs and doubles them when golden and a golden version of the demon who gives his health to another minion when he dies. that sucker had several hundred health by the the endgame.

sure, the combos are subtle, but they are there.

Because Core set is a limited time thing just for this year, whereas the Warglaives from the Ashes of outland set is a collectable card that once you get it it will stay in your collection forever. or at least that's the impression I am getting from Blizzard, they actually haven't announced their final decision for what happens to core set cards at the end of the year, but snce you can still collect the normal versions of the cards separately I have to assume that they will all disappear at the end of the year when the new Core set rolls in.

right, I forgot they added the spell school treasures, because most of them were bad (except the holy one). I was hoping they were going to release the mercenaries as alter heroes, because at Blizzconline they hinted at that.

posted a message on What do you think about luck?

I mean, in most card games (hearthstone included) Luck does play a large part. but as the saying goes, "play the hand you're dealt". Hearthstone is about saving answers, playing only when needed, and not wasting a single resource.

I played an Arena Game against a preist this morning that really shocked me. one we were both playing our best, trying desperately to outvalue the other by a single mana. he kept playing around my Vanessa, which kept me from taking the board until he eventually ran out of answers one card before me. it was one of the closest games of Hearthstone I've played in awhile.

Sure, there are times you just don't get the draws, but when I compare Hearthstone to something like Magic the Gathering that barely ever happens. you can usually do SOMETHING in hearthstone, which I think makes it a good game.

ah, yeah. sorry, last time I played pure dragon warrior was probably Blackrock, but I'm sure there's fun things you can do with it.

I've had a decent amount of success with a Menegerie Warrior using deathwing. if you have the new N'zoth you play good rush/taunt minions from every tribe in the deck, maybe throw in the curator and the ringmaster for massive card draw when you need it. Deathwing has served me well in that deck, though I probably go too far with the gimmick (as I always do). I'm sure a more toned down version could probably take you to diamond at least.

posted a message on [Forged in the Barrens] Off-Meta Tournament

Honestly, with only 32 slots for players, you could just make people submit their decks beforehand, a quick glance at the decks should tell you whether they are copying a meta deck or actually building one. I'm sure if that's too much to ask of you you could also get a few members of the community to help out.

My Highest win rate decks are not meta, at least I am fairly sure, can't say I've ever actually looked at a deck list, so I guess thoughtsteal priest might be meta in standard right now. :D

posted a message on Barrens Achievement Farming

eHere's the thing. I don't know what achievements are out there, and I don't know what Meta Decks are out there. what I am doing when I play the game is building cool interesting decks that I have ideas for, and trying to win a few games with them. I wouldn't have any idea that you were trying for an achievement since I am too busy trying to pull off a post Nerf Hysteria OTK or whatever. (5 card, 12 mana combo, not easy, but worthwhile).

Thinking that other players just Know what you are trying to do is not fair. I understand that people like you really enjoy achievement hunting, and other people enjoy the ladder grind. but other people don't care about the meta or achievements and just want to build silly decks and have a laugh.

let's all try and be a little more understanding of people's whose playstyles don't really agree with our own.

posted a message on Card reveal schedule?

The issue with the "two weeks of reveals" math is that almost every time there is a week between the final reveal and launch. as stated it's to draw in pre-orders. sometimes it's as much as two weeks. so them not starting until two weeks before launch means that they have 1 week to dump all the reveals and 1 week to wait for the cash to flow.

Now obviously that is a generalization. we are talking about the team that at Blizzcon once said "There's a new expansion coming out Thursday, Surprise!" so they could be purposely shaking things up, as they like to do.

posted a message on Art direction in Hearthstone

When I look at the old vs new Dragon Aspects what I think of is that the old ones are drawn to appear as forces of nature. their bodies are ill-defined, and they are wreathed in power of the color of their aspects. truely the definitive version of those characters.

in contrast the new ones remind me more of something you'd see in Yu-gi-oh. Magestic Dragons, usually in the middle of attacking with their signature attacks, and showing off the full silhouette and stature of the monster.

I have to wonder if this change isn't even just because of Hearthstone, but also the progression of WoW in general. if you recall the first few expansions we got were all from early vanilla WoW-Wrath of the Lich king. back then all give aspects were still alive. they seemed like immortal, eternal forces of nature that would never die. but as of late that has been less and less the case. first we killed Malygos in late Lich King. then Deathwing in Cataclysm. Ysera in Legion, and Norzdomu in timetravel events. maybe the reduction of the aspects from primal forces of nature down to "big dragons" is appropriate for the age in which the Warcraft Universes exist in now.

I do think the art, sound, and feel of hearthstone is the biggest reason I stick with it instead of playing Legends of Runetera or Magic. LoR just feels too queit and I miss my "go ahead, make my day" from hearthstone, and Magic Arena feels too still, like I am just playing tabletop simulator.

but I guess it does say a lot that my favorite legendaries are all still classic legendaries, at least when thinking art+sound. King Crush is the best summoning animation. followed by Deathwing

posted a message on A quick question about Jaraxxus

Several people in this thread have called it a buff, is it really? old Jaraxxus had situations where he was better, and using somehting like Voidcaller to pull your jaraxxus for a free 3/15 was a strong play before. I don't consider the new Jaraxxus an improvement, but a really lame way to bring Jaraxxus in line with other heroes. sure it will make it easier to play Jaraxxus, but I don't think it will make him stronger overall, just less tactical.
