I enjoyed reading this post, it seems well though out. However, I politely disagree what seems to be an underlying presumption, namely that you have only two options: dust all your cycled out cards and play Standard, or keep them and play Wild. I have always played for gold, and bought adventures (and this time, the preorder) with real money. I plan to keep doing that until I get bored of the game - the enjoyment I get from HS is what I spend my money on. Therefore I will keep doing that, giving me a continuous supply of new cards for Standard mode, and eventually for Wild as well. At the moment, due to the residual loathing I have for Sludge Belcher and Piloted Shredder, I admittedly play more Standard than Wild, but, as another poster pointed out, that will probably change.
TL, DR: I don't "dust everything" and I don't "play the only real mode", I simply play both, and enjoy the differences.
I tried warlock/paladin on my ftp US account, and won - but think I won because I got better neutrals than my opponent seemed to get? I seemed to have very few class cards, but got two Sword of Justice which led to some Forbidden Ritual magic, but that was the only cool interaction I saw.
Still, cautiously optimistic, willing to try some more.
This looks fun - I tried a pirate rogue a couple of months back, didn't have much success with it. Not great at deckbuilding myself, so take this for what it's worth (I'm posting because this intrigues me):
I liked having double Dread Corsair, since you have a weapon so often, and it helps protect face. I also used at least one Fan of Knives. This was when face hunter was rampant, so I felt it gave me good value (also, I often combined it with Bloodmage Thalnos, which is not necessarily good fit for you here).
I would like a tiny bit of healing, eg Earthen Ring Farseer, since you're weapon heavy and might be face-tanking a bit, especially early game. If you're comfortable, it's probably not essential.
Don't think I've ever accepted a friend request after a game. I've been on twitch, I know what sort of stupidity awaits me most of the time if I do so. Doesn't really bother me, I just ignore the invites and blow them all away the next day(some people will spam the invite if you immediately decline)
It would be cool if hearthstone implemented a deck request mechanism after a game. Obviously you would have to make it so no custom messages could be used or you'd have idiot kids sending racist stuff etc to people after games. Just some kind of button on the win/lose screen when the match ends.
Oh, I'm intrigued by the idea of a deck request mechanism. They could make it like the spectate feature, where you can tick whether or not you want to allow friends to spectate you? So, make it like you can choose whether or not to accept deck requests.
Mine ranges from Druid (favorite class) at 51 to Rogue (like-but-suck-at-it) at 35, with the others rolling around the forties - average 43.3. I like variety, and I'm relatively casual (highest ever rank 10 last month), so I play around with different classes and archetypes depending on my mood. I'm definitely influenced by whatever dailies I get - I reroll the low-gold rewards ones and just play with whatever class gets the high-reward ones. I don't know what I'll do when eventually I get them to 60 - I might focus on leveling lower ones more, but I don't see myself stopping playing entirely with any class since I play for fun anyway.
Well, at least now you have an alternate option. Pre-WOTOG, if you felt absolutely nauseated by Piloted Shredder and Sludge Belcher and Dr. Boom being everywhere all the time, you had to either switch to Arena or to another game entirely. I personally enjoy having a choice of constructed modes.
I think mages have the best flavour text in general. I'm torn between Arcane Missiles (You'd think you'd be able to control your missiles a little better since you're a powerful mage and all) and Polymorph: Boar (It's always Huffer).
Well, I run some card draw (Fan of Knives, Azure Drake, Gadgetzan Auctioneer) and because Malygos with Sinister Strike or Eviscerate is my win-condition I keep him in my mulligan if he shows up. Emperor Thaurissan is not completely crucial because due to the stealth mechanic you can often set up two-turn combos, so I just use him if he shows up and don't worry if I don't see him. Shadowcaster is used to make copies of Malygos for fun, but sometimes I win before pulling it.
It's probably not all that consistent. I played 11 matches, and won 7, which is above average for me.
My warlock Malygos deck ran a bunch of dragon synergies and Alexstrasza, that was a bit more consistent because of the hero power.
If you like it, go for it. I don't craft golden myself, because I'm still lacking basic cards, but I like how golden looks and I never dust golden cards unless I already have two - even if they're bad. So pretty!
I feel like I read somewhere that that's why we don't get the stats, but can't find a source now. Pretty sure myself that not giving us that is deliberate, and not an oversight.

I'm not sure about Defias Ringleader in this deck.

Ah, well, I didn't say anything changed - just pointing out there are two options now. :)

Game is Casual-friendly enough as it is. Gotta leave something for people to grind at.

Does it make you feel better having typed out that list? It seems like a therapeutic exercise... :D
