posted a message on IksarHS (game dev) Balance changes post.

Oh thank God. This meta is so bad.

Look at the Vicious Syndicate report if you don't believe it. Paladin and Warlock are busted beyond belief. There are only a few deck that can handle them and those decks rely on busted nonsense like Quest Rogue. Just going face and doing literally nothing else Burn Mage, and Odd Rogue, Mind Blast Priest. Or Getting really, really, like really lucky any deck with Spiteful in the name of the deck. Voidlord forces every deck to run 2 silences and blocks most board strategies killing 90% of possible viable meta decks.

Call to Arms is busted, yah, insanely busted. Draw and play 3 cards from deck is hilariously broken. Mad Scientist draw and played one card from deck and it was insane. This is that times 3. Draw is more premium than it has ever been and this class can draw and play 3 cards with one card. While still have Divine fucking favor. How did they call that balanced without laughing their asses off. That is so far from being balanced with any other class it is ridiculous.

Kobold Librarian doesn't make me that mad. It is a shot to the face of every other class tho. The class that already had the best card draw in the game gets the best card card draw minion in the game. Again, Card Draw is so premium. Try playing Shaman. Shaman is a fucking nightmare right now. Your best access to card draw is a 0/3 for 3 that draws a card at the END of your turn. It sucks ass and it can't even draw you an out, and these motherfuckers with everything get a card they didn't even need or want. It is rude as fuck. Rude as fuck.

Naga was derpy ass thing. I assume it was to draw attention to Wild. It did that I guess. It made most people realize why playing Wild is probably not a good way to spend your time. It went on too long....who gives a shit, its wild. You can have unbalanced meta it is fine. There is not the promise of balance in Wild. There is the promise of balance in standard and when it is not balanced you shouldn't get paid because your not doing your fucking job. If Wild and Standard are unbalanced as fuck what is even the point. Why should anyone invest their time in a game that has no class balance. That forces to play a 3-5 super overpowered unbalanced decks/cards or just lose. You can't competed with 80-90% go the cards against the other 10% of busted ass cards. Why not just save yourself and us the time and money and just print fucking 10 card expansions if your not going to put any effort into balance?

posted a message on HCT in WW Meta LoL!

Wow, I knew this wasn't the best meta ever in constructed. A lot of streamers are trying to reassure people, no, no don't worry it is at least a really cool tournament meta.

This is the dumbest HCT I have ever seen! That is saying a lot. Yogg and Pirates were bot a thing. I take it back. The one where Purple won by putting Crabs in every deck was the dumbest. This is the second dumbest.

Warlock plays non Warlock. Warlock wins.

Warlock plays Warlock. Warlock who drew and killed Rin first wins.

Spiteful plays anything. Spiteful got Tyrantus and wins. Spiteful doesn't get drawn early and loses.

Mind Blast Priest gets Anduin early Mind Blast Priest wins. Mind Blast Priest draws Anduin late and loses.

Literally every match is just down to being Warlock or having the dumb luck to draw the overpowered thing you do early.

Hadronox has Hadronox early...you get the idea...

Unwatchable expect for laughs. It is literally the dumbest meta.

I don't have Hagatha, but honestly I tried cutting the Bonemares because they do seem clunky sometimes but holy crap was that rough. The Bonemares are apparently core.

Unstable Evolution is really good because of the flexibility. Its another replacement for not having any real card draw.

Oh, cool, I would like to see the Kibler deck for sure. Thanks for the advice, I really do need some outside help. I was going pretty well this deck for awhile but I feel like I hit a wall, hard, and it is pretty frustrating.

Scalehide has surprised me with its strength honestly. It does hold me back in the Control matchups where I may want something more aggressive, but it has been really good against aggro, especially Pally. The heal can be a huge burst with Flametongue, and Bonemare, and getting heal on Corpsetaker has been pretty clutch. It is worth a thought but I don't think I want to cut there.

Bonemare is a card I tried cutting. I had a really bad experience and was about to give up on the deck. Then I put them back in. I won 3 out of 4 games, two against Cubelocks, and one of the those Cubelocks drew really well. Bonemare is, as it turns out, still a REALLY good card. lol. The big combos to look for are Bonemare on a Scalehide is AMAZING. Bonemare for removal is good. I put in Unstable Evolution that actually makes Bonemare a little better. It is one of the best cards to Zola imo too. Bonemare, Bonemare, I can not say this enough because I had such bad time when I wasn't running 2 copies of it. Bonemare is good.

Zola, and Harrison have been pretty mediocre for me. Zola Shudderwock combo-combo has NEVER worked out for me into winning a game. lol. I have found it is kinda good as a 3 mana 2/2 draw a card that was on the board because my big complaint is card draw. I have to weapon removal to beat Warlock EVER! and I figured my main problem is card draw so I may as well. I hate, irrationally hate Mana Tide Totem, but, regrettably I think you are right, it is the best card draw option available to Shaman. It feels so bad. 0/3 stats for optimistically draw 2 cards and that is at the end of 2 consecutive turns so it can not even be a top deck out. gross.

I need to update that, I did put a Tar Creeper in and I think it was the right choice. Earthen Might is a pretty good card.

Tol Vir wouldn't trigger Corpsetaker in the deck. Sunwalker has actually been decent mainly because I want to play a curve out Midrange deck and I couldn't find a good non situational card to slam on turn 6. The redundancy on divine shield and taunt is also pretty important.

Lightning Storm has been something I thought about a lot. I think, even though it seems crazy, I am right on not including it. So here is my thoughts on that. I stated thinking about not including it because I noticed it had REALLY low win rates on HSreplay. Then I thought about way.
Almost every deck Lightning Storm is not enough. They are playing big minions that beat you down. Spiteful, Hench-Clan, Doomguard. The only match up worth considering is Paladin, and these decks are being shaped to sometimes beat Warlock, with defile, hellfire, etc, etc. One dinky lightning Storm for 5 mana, and is going to slow me down more than it slows them down.
Mind Control Tech is the solution I think to this problem. It is amazing against those big decks sometimes you cheese a win off of stealing a big Spiteful Minion or whatever but really you just want the board with this deck. MTC swings the board back in your favor. If you play smart and get a little lucky I find you can often edge out a win against Pally with MTC swings and really smart trading. Sometimes you blow you out with power play after power play but I think you have to win the board to consistently clear. If I had Maelstrom Portal I would include for sure. Lightning Storm is just kinda way below power level right now imo. I want a Midrange Minion based deck so Volcano is not something I want, same problem as Lightning Storm really you are just conceding that you can not win on board.

This has been my FAVORITE project this expansion though because it really feels like it is so close to working.

Actually it feels like it is one Warlock nerf away from working if I didn't have to tech so heavily for that match up with Weapon Removal, 2x Hex, 2x MTC (I might play those anyway but they really help here). Before I stopped recording stats I was positive or even against everyone else. A little bad against Pally but that match felt fair most the time. Warlock is the match that gets me REALLY frustrated and giving up.

posted a message on Should I take a break?

Take a break and come back later.

I know I said this after...Naxx, GvG, Blackrock, TGT, Explorers, Old Gods, Mean Streets, Un Goro, Karazan, Frozen Throne, Kobolds

And I know we didn't get it in Witchwood.

    but...

Blizzard is still new at this. I know in my heart they are listening to trying to do better. I am sure we just one expansion away from a game that feels like most if not all the classes are closer to being equally viable. Where aggro and control and combo feel like they are equally viable choices for many classes. Games don't feel like they come down a huge lucky RNG play like Rag shoots face, Boom Bot goes face, Flamewaker when face, drawing Mysterious challenger on curve, Drawing Reno on curve, Yogg won you the game, Lucky Gentle Megasaur, Having Raza and Kazakus on curve, Having Keleseth on curve, Spiteful summoned Tyrantus. Or cards that feel grossly over the power level of anything offered to most classes Undertaker, Goblin Blastmage, Grim Patron, Tunnel Trog, Patches and Small Time Bucconer, Ultimate Infestation, The demon summoning package, Call to Arms...

I am sure they have learned from all those missteps in the past and the next expansion is the one we have all been waiting for that brings about a balanced and fair meta.

I really want to be more of a Midrange deck than a control deck.

I feel like if your trying to play control with Grumble how could be better than the infinite combo I win deck, right?

and that deck doesn't work that well...

The walls I am running into are:

Having enough push without a lucky Whirlwind Corpsetaker with buff to take out really slow decks like Combo Priest

OMG! Shaman CARD DRAW SUCKS! IT SUCKS!!!! Everygame I look at my cards drawn and my opponents and I am like 5-10 cards behind its actually terrible. Legit terrible

Warlock has hero power and a 1 mana draw with good stats
Druid has 10 mana give me all the cards
Paladin has give me all the cards you drew, and 4 mana draw and play 3

That is why right now no one can really compete. Maybe this isn't the place for salty salt time. Trying to make this deck work with crap like Mana Tide and Card Generation (which is kinda crap) to lead me to still gassing. While my opponent just draws all the cards often on a good tempo card really makes it hard for the game to feel fair and any way balanced.

Its not a coincidence the top three classes have the best card draw in the game.

posted a message on 7 cards I'd like to see nerfed (and how/why)

I agree with the card choices but not the nerfs.

I think those cards should be erased from existence along with their designers as an appropriate nerf.

posted a message on Hearthstone is too Expensive

Yah, it is true. It is more true that most people make it out to be. I chunk down my $50 every expansion. I have fun. At the end of the day realistically, I and everyone in my camp is an absolute, complete and undeniable moron.

It is a weird concept that digital card games are judged on the pricing guidelines as paper card games and not as other digital games. You know why Magic or other physical card games are real expansive. Printing cards is really expensive and they need to recoup that cost before they can ever make a profit. HS is not as expensive as Magic but it is way more in line with their price point than it is other digital games. Which, when you really think about it, makes no fucking sense. They are basically just taking advantage of the fact that card game players have accepted a higher price point as the gateway to entry and to gain, I want to say most, but even that is being super generous, but sure lets say most content.

If God of War, or League, or anyone was like hey you want most the content that is going be $150 a year. We would chop heads off. lol. literal riots. Look at Star Wars Battlefront. I don't know what they were pricing most the content over there at but Im sure it was lower than $150 a year and riots in the street.

Yet, we accept that from HS because it is, in our mind a card game. Like Magic. We have been trained to expect to get less for a whole lot more money. Yet in reality. HS has the same overhead of Battlefront, not Magic. So again we are, me included, dumb, very dumb.

posted a message on How do you guys feel about spell breaker?

Without Spellbreaker Warlock would have nearly a 100% win rate. It is pretty much only decks that can face down Warlock that is keeping their win rate in check right now. Those decks are gone if they can't get through a Voidlord.

Without Voidlord. You would see significantly less spell breakers.

I have heard people suggest Silence should be a one turn only effect, that could be a good way to do it.

posted a message on Does Hearthstone need more Board Clears?

Hearthstone needs more of an even access to board clears.

Warlock should have less high quality board clears.

Shaman should have board clears that do not totally suck.

    etc....

Pretty much anything. Harrison Jones has a similar vibe, or actually put something in to help against aggro.

I think this deck has a better match up against Cubelock than the one I play now because it can actually make a board state Warlock can't handle. It is hard to get to that point tho. This deck loses pretty badly to aggro in my experience. I have actually been playing a Corpsetaker Shudderwock Midrange that feels stronger in general. Actually, I only have bad match ups against Warlock, and Priest, and I think I was just getting unlucky against Priest. The classes it really beats up on is Rogue and Hunter. With a decent match up against Pally and Mage. It can take a game against Warlock but everything has to line up pretty close to perfect especially weapon removal, but Warlock will get nerfed in month or so anyway it is pretty clearly well overpowered.
