GentilleMouche posted a message on Unintelligent DesignPosted in: Card DiscussionThe more you'll play Zephrys the more you'll learn what it can and can't offer you and that's when it starts to get good.
Now you know you can't get Flare against a stealthed frog on turn 4, next time this happens you won't missplay.
I get what you're saying but I imagine it would take huge amount of work from the devs to make Zephrys fully capable of figuring out every board state and do what the player wants to do. Maybe Zephrys could have offered you a flare if there wasn't a spell damage totem, he gave you 2 answers for the spell damage, maybe this was his first priority.

Breakfast1 posted a message on What happened to Noxious?Posted in: Streams and VideosHe's playing Magic the Gathering Arena. He still plays weird gimmicky stuff and gets pretty solid viewership. He's doing fine. He switched to a game he likes better and there's nothing wrong with that.

MProdigy posted a message on The true skill in HearthstonePosted in: General DiscussionThe age-old discussion: Does it require skill to play Hearthstone, or it a pure RNG fiasco?
I have to admit, I'm guilty of claiming this game has little to no skill in order to play effectively, and instead relies heavily on luck. Then I started to ponder my dissertation which is about grit and success. In case you don't know what grit is, it is trait-level perseverance of effort and consistency of interest; Google Angela Duckworth and grit and you'll get tons of academic literature on the topic. When you combine grit and self-regulation (the ability to control one's self) you get a very reliable predictor of a person's potential to be successful.
So how does this fit into Hearthstone? Well, think about what it takes to rank up. The decks are pretty homogeneous; by this I mean there are meta decks that everyone copies and pastes, with very little variation. So in a way we can view them as a constant. However, the level of grit one has should vary greatly from player to player. The first facet, perseverance of effort, is basically not giving up even if you are on a losing streak (i.e. overcoming an obstacle). Players here will say "stick to a deck, don't switch it up all the time". That takes grit, but it also takes consistency of interest. If you get bored of a deck easily or get overly frustrated when you lose, you tend to do more poorly. Self regulation is a key component as well, as there is a phenomena called "falling down the rabbit hole". If you are too gritty, it begins to manifest as stubbornness. So, rather than learning from your mistakes, you tend to think you played perfectly and have no need to change your game plan. Thus, a balance of self-regulation and grit will allow you to stay calm and overcome the obstacles you face, such as that dreaded final boss at rank 5 and legend floors.
These concepts of non-cognitive skills and success are obviously more valuable outside of games, but they hold true nonetheless. Does RNG still play a massive role? Absolutely. Are there times where you played perfectly and lost to a scrub because luck sided with them and not you? 100%. But, it's how you manage that that determines your success. If stepping away helps, do that. Streamers don't have that ability usually, so even when they lose they keep at it. I think WoWHobbs is a great example of a gritty player. He gives two shits about playing the top meta decks. He floats between ranks 5-3 most of the time, but he does so with off-the-wall crazy decks. He sticks with it, stay interested in the style of gameplay he enjoys, and most of all, HAS FUN. I encourage you to try the same.
Cheers

Money, money, money. No thanks. At least until the next preorder.

Male rogue.
To be "gender-equal" or whatever that BS is called.
1
I would not to.
If you are f2p and/or you do not do preorders, you can use him
to discover new cards form ALL the upcoming expansion !
(after he rotates out you can use him in wild - you will get recipe decks too)
I did disenchanted golden Zerek's Cloning Gallery (not too many cards
to get use for) to get Zilliax not only because I am a mech guy.
So if you really do not want/need Boomzoka
and want/need some other legendary, do disenchant it and craft the wanted one.

No, whole druid class is a real problem.
1
Exactly. You can just craft him, do not open the packs and play all the decks for maybe maybe a week :D

I say bring back

Valeera is pleased :)
