interesting contest this week. I thought i'd get at least one vote with greater blessing of wisdom. great in the mid game and early late game, but horrible after that because of fatique. high risk with high reward stacked on an easy to kill 1/1. oh well. some favs of mine were emerald portal, hunters call, and shuriken.

It's a legendary spell, which isn't a thing. It's also what I like to call a "field" spell, or something that has a permanent effect but isn't tethered to anything, which also isn't a thing.

I think Rend and Lifebloom are the overall best of the bunch. I could easily see both being added to the game- hell, Rend is overdue IMO. Hopefully the devs are lurking.

Also, glad to see Arcane Brilliance make it as a wildcard, I really wanted that to get the spotlight.

How do you choose which pages advance and which ones don't? With the current way we do things, taking just 8 finalists would penalize pages that had two strong cards, because then neither would make it to the final.
Can't it just take 20 or so finalists as normal, then pick the 8 highest rated from that?

I'd like to see fewer finalists each week, ideally no more than 8 standard picks, plus any Wild Cards (so 12 finalists maximum, as a hard cap).

I'm disappointed by just how fan-made it feels, in particular the murloc cards. I swear I've seen iterations of them in the Weekly Card Design Competition. Of course I like to think that cards we submit have a hypothetical chance of being added to the game in some form, but I expect them to be added with a slightly more 'serious', more professional tone. Having a 10 mana spell for Paladin, that barely has anything to do with the class and has a stupid pun in the name, is off-putting TBH.

Silver-lining, I guess; now people can stop using that disgusting baby murloc artwork for their cards.

Ceasefire, Fel Orc Raider, and Twilight Corruptor.

Ceasefire's got a really cool symmetrical effect going on that I think has a lot of flexibility, and might make Bolster and/or King's Defender a thing(s), which is nice.

Fel Orc Raider's reasonable enough for what it is, since it's basically just a 4/2 for 2 (fair as a class card), but I think it's the lore and theme as pointed out by Zadikiel that I really admire about this one.

Twilight Corruptor seems like a better, smaller variant of Hungry Dragon that attempts to contest Zombie Chow for best 1-Drop in the game. It's hard to say whether or not it succeeds, but I like it, and I'd like to think it would see play. It's also at least a character reference to the WoW TCG's Twilight Corruptor, which I think gives it a feeling of authenticity.

Can't say I really liked any of these cards, though Blood Giant is probably the most realistic. Assuming Blizzard continues their tradition of adding a Giant every expansion, I imagine something like it will eventually be added.

In terms of legitimate game balance, this change is a step in the right direction. It's not perfect, but it brings the power level of this card into the realm of sanity that it was separate from for so long. Don't forget, Warsong Commander is a Basic Set minion, the vast majority of which don't see play in the meta.

I just wonder how the finalists were selected.

You need more friends in Hearthpwn to be selected. Because these "friends" will discussed your designed card in forums, making yours to be popular and the mods will put yours as the finalist cause you are goddamn popular.

Why don't we vote all the cards?

We do vote on cards, and there's a breakdown of the system used to determine finalists at the bottom of every submission topic. However, if I may Shiv you further, consider this: I have no friends here, and I barely post in the discussion threads (or at all, for that matter). Even when I do, I don't advertise my card at all, save for the humble link in my signature.

Woot, made it to the finals! I'm surprised to see no Druid entries, what happened?

But minion is always "active" even if it cant attack, secret is inactive on your turn, its grey out ... so i would assume any card text is inactive as well, thus cant trigger in any way, even part of it ...

Isn't it still lit up for your opponent? Again, sounds cosmetic to me, what matters is what is actually happening in the code.

@Santi: I guess the use of the Secret and the Inspire keyword on the same card caused the confusion. The secret is not triggering when you use Inspire, only the inspire effect is.

But yeah, you got how the card will work: "he (the opponent) needs to toss it back to u or just use it to waste mana and get ridd of it or suffer the consequences ;-)"

    Quote from Sinti >>

No man, the inspire will not trigger, i dont believe it would actually work as u want it to, thats what im trying to tell u.

    Quote from vesperbot >>

This means inspire effect should be attached to your hero instead. "Your hero has "Inspire: Give control of a random secret to your opponent"". That should actually make this secret more powerful should the enemy have a secret in place, upping the chance of your minions to get +3/+3 to 50% even if enemy would use hero power.

For the record, the effect would work just fine as a minion, although it would be able to trigger more than once unless you also added in "and destroy this minion.". That would be wordy, sure, but the point is it would work. So, I guess the question is, are Secrets mechanically and technically any different from a minion that destroys itself?

The only real difference I can see is that Secrets are not flagged as minions. Everything else is cosmetic. The Inspire effect is simply tethered to the "minion" (Secret), or perhaps your Hero, but it's not the effect OF the Secret, so it's not activating/consuming/destroying it. it's simply switching control of it to the opponent (ie; Kezan Mystic).

How the hell did this get 4 votes so quickly on the last page 20, from an account that only has 2 posts, those for submission threads only, newly created. I smell another vote manipulation situation

I don't think that the number of posts you have has anything to do with the number of votes you get. Why should it? At any rate, it was uploaded 13 hours ago. That's roughly 1 vote every 3 hours, hardly what I would call quick.
