posted a message on "It is an honor, Lord Illidan"

Back in February, I played Hotform in Duels. I had a silly idea to do this mana biscuit OTK I was trying and it totally whiffed. I tried to snipe him and it ended up being a bit humiliating as him and his chat joked about how dumb my strategy must be.

posted a message on A New Mystery Card Back Has Been Added To The Game

This seems like a good lead—the mercenaries also have cards that actually feature them in their art. However, I just tried playing Scabbs and managed to play those 4 cards with it on the same turn and saw no progress.

posted a message on Anyone else get anxiety while playing?

I used to get anxiety about ranked mode before they implemented the new rewards track. For years I only played for the 5 ranked wins a month to get the card back and then it was back to casual for fun games. But once achievements were tied to ranked games it became my focus and I have hit legend every month since then. I don’t feel anxious anymore except at diamond 1 or when I am like 11-2 in arena.

posted a message on XP Achievement Guide - Forged in the Barrens

I would have liked a more detailed guide as well, at least pointing towards some cards that can be used. though I admit some of these are a little more straightforward.

I did the Rancor one by using Mad Summoner, Protect the King, and Drywhisker Armorer for some sustain. Completed mine against a pirate warrior.

For the Tavish achievement, I wouldn’t recommend using beasts that cost more than 6. You’ll probably be playing against spell mage, sticking a bearshark on turn 3 while you have Tavish in hand is a way to get it started. In wild, you’ll want to search keywords rush and charge and again pick guys who cost less than 5/6

Mankrik’s Wife is probably easiest with shuffle rogue as you stated, I’d add that secret passage presents the card as a neutral 3-cost spell you can play from hand if you manage to get the opponent down you can complete it pretty simply.

Seems like this pushes Paladin out a little and leaves Mage largely the same if a little slower.

surprised by the Jandice nerf honestly

posted a message on Noticed spellburst does not trigger after oh my yogg.

I’ve seen it work other spellburst minions before, it might have been because the coin used a zero cost spell that was inoperable for you (think Raise Dead when you had no dead minions)

posted a message on Random and discover pools too good?

I’ve been thinking recently that discover effects should be tied to normal deck building. For example if you already had Solarian in your deck you wouldn’t be able to discover a second copy, or Soul Mirror.
they basically did this with Dragonqueen not being able to discover herself

posted a message on Hearthstone Esports suspends Zalae

I mean he isn’t alleged to have raped her, he is alleged to have grabbed her and attempted to smother her. Where I practice, that would be Assault in the Second Degree. I don’t know what rape numbers have to do with anything.

you keep bringing up Kavanaugh as if that’s more relevant than discussing Hearthstone Esports suspend[ing] Zalae which is literally the title of this thread. And while I would acknowledge the claims against the Justice are meant to highlight an example of cancel culture and compare it to Zalae’s situation, I don’t even think Kavanaugh’s would be considered an outrageous example—rape in most states has a long statute of limitations, it’s a serious and violent allegation that deserves to be investigated. Maybe more troubling examples of cancel culture could be found in instances where a person used a racial slur in their youth or went to a racist party and are now being cancelled years later when presumably they’ve outgrown that sort of behavior. But I digress—the topic here is a company’s decision to suspend a player for assaulting someone.

posted a message on Hearthstone Esports suspends Zalae
    Quote from Psy_Kik >>

Pressure on Blizzard (and other companies and institutions in cases like) to act before guilt has been established comes on the back of two things :

    - Public awareness increase at the failure to get convictions in criminal courts for abuse and rape. They are embarassingly low, in nearly all Western countries, where we actually consider ourselves ahead of the global curve on the issue. Our legal systems are rightly founded on a principle of assumed innocence before proven guillt. But proving guilt in these kind of cases is notoriously difficult. Conviction rates fluctuate between values as low as 1 to 5%. This has caused people (largely women) to lose faith in the legal systems, which has lead to..

    - Social media and activist pressures, and mob like behaviour. It is the inevitable outcome of a judicial system failing it's people.

It is not an easy problem to solve, but fundemantally, conviction rates must increase to appease the masses, restore faith and silence the cries of inherent patriarchy.

As for Blizzard and Zalae - they should have waited but, due to my second point, it is inevtiable they will not, Zalae has very little value to them relative to what they might lose otherwise.

I don’t know where you are getting the figure for convictions between 1-5% but everything I am finding has it between 40-60% on the Bureau of Justice Website.  Based on my own experience, the difficulty the state has in proving these cases often comes down to a victim’s willingness to participate. You can read that however you want (I.e., Vic doesn’t testify because the allegations are false or fears retaliation or changes their mind because they don’t want to see the Defendant prosecuted despite the allegations being true or is embarrassed or scared about what a jury would think) Domestic Violence is a weird and scary thing for these reasons.  I believe public discourse on the topic has more to do with raising awareness about these issues and less to do with virtue signaling or some Feminist attack on patriarchy.

Secondly, I think Blizzard did wait a long time. These allegations came to light in January, they waited until the day before the tournament to announce their decision. They’re a game company, I don’t exactly expect them to investigate in the traditional sense. Their not suspending him immediately is a sign that they aren’t judging him before all facts come to light.  But there is simply no way an entertainment company in 2021 is going to take the risk that they either are seen as endorsing or supporting an abuser or allowing their event to be overshadowed by his allegations.

posted a message on Hearthstone Esports suspends Zalae

This goes beyond moral imperative I believe—this game has a sizable community that most would describe as toxic. Imagine how humiliating it would be for Zalae to have to play a high stakes game and have people in chat saying “Zalae beats his GF kek,” imagine if he went all the way and won and how much of the discussion around the tournament would center on the allegations.
and that’s all they are, they aren’t proven, Blizzard is calling them allegations, they aren’t saying we stand with Rini.
Further, I would add that they are giving him a suspension. This implies it is temporary. If it should come back that Zalae wasn’t at fault they would likely welcome him back.
I think everyone is making a bigger deal of this than it should be. Violence is wrong, but this is someone’s personal life, we don’t know all the circumstances, and if I represented Zalae I would have advised him not to make a statement on any of this. The result of that might mean that hers is the only account for the public to consider, but that might be better for him down the road.
