posted a message on Hearthstone Esports suspends Zalae

I don't disagree that it's a philosophical stance and that people should do their best to refrain from a judgment until hearing all facts presented. But Blizzard isnt saying he DID anything in the ESports tweet where they announce the suspension, they aren't saying one way or the other who they believe.

I take issue with the phrase "presumption of innocence," as its used here because he is still innocent and nothing that Blizzard has done changes that.

Looks like the presumption of innocence isn't a thing anymore

@Shadowrisen I am a lawyer too, you know this, we have messaged before about exactly that.

And people are literally saying that legal rights are being infringed, see this quote above.  That’s what I am responding to.  It’s fine if you feel that cancel culture goes too far, or you think this is an example of that.

But it’s simply not true to say that because he is getting dropped from this event he is no longer presumed innocent.  Blizzard isn’t saying he is guilty, perhaps they are doing this because the believe he is (and if you do support the spirit of law as you say, you’d support freedom of speech, which would entail Blizzards right to present their own opinion, though the personhood of a corporation is debatable and not germane to this) but it’s also possible they are not having him simply because they would prefer people not spam the comment section of Grandmasters with things like “Zalae beats his GF” which would no doubt be best for Zalae, grandmasters, and Blizzard.

Can we stop acting like presumption of innocence has anything to do with Blizzard’s decision to have a particular person participate in their own event?

he is presumed innocent for a trial, he doesn’t face a loss of constitutional rights at the hands of the government because he is presumed innocent. Blizzard can do whatever they want to make their own events to their liking—in this instance they have recognized it’s a safer PR move to not give Zalae a spot.  Imagine one day a particular graphic symbol became synonymous with hate and Blizzard happened to have it very prominently displayed in marketing material. If they would choose to remove that symbol because it made their material more useful, that’s would be no different than what they have done here.

posted a message on Why you are not playing Hearthstone as often As you can?

I want to like the game, I want to play it, but there’s no space for anything anymore. I’ve checked out since last Friday and I still find myself coming here to see what people are talking about.

I was looking forward to this expansion—the frenzy mechanic and the core set seemed to promise a return to interactive board states and some new decks. But the results have proven to be really limited. I’m disappointed that they push all these new ideas, don’t give them enough support to be viable in any way, and then tie achievements to playing the new archetypes that cannot be done reliably because two decks completely dominate the meta.

Probably a safe craft. It’s strong, the card is going to be in standard for two whole years, and there will likely be further support for it in the future. Look at all the hero power cards that already exist, there most certainly will be more.

Spellslinger for me. The 3/4 stat line is solid. love that it has an element of randomness that also maintains a sense of balance. I haven’t played with it in probably four years. This is making me nostalgic for a real casino deck.

posted a message on Duels is frickin sweet! Why the hate on this site?

I think some of the changes to the treasures/new treasures have added a lot of depth. However, more balance is needed i feel and the rewards are still a little lackluster.

would be cool if they had a special skin you could unlock for going 12 wins in a season or a coin. That’s maybe a lot to ask. But I’d probably never stop playing if they made rewards interesting across the different modes

posted a message on Blizzard moves on too fast from keywords

I feel like the readability argument is a cop out in light of the fact that netdecking is what it is and anyone could look this stuff up online. I understand that not everyone will do it, but then when someone argues they don’t like such and such netdeck everybody says the developers want us to go online share our decks and see other people’s. How hard is it to expect a new player to look at a short list of keywords on a website? And it’s not as if hovering over a card does not give a tooltip explaining what a card does.

I think the only argument that holds water really is they want to add a new keyword with each new expansion and make that a focus, and if they started adding others back while introducing something it might muddy the theme they’re pushing.

that aside, im hopeful that they expand what keywords they’ll bring back in mini-sets.

posted a message on "If you are bored with standard then play wild" *big sigh*

What can be said that hasn’t been said before? I agree that the ‘grind’ becomes really apparent when you get above D10 in wild, but you should relish that your homebrew deck can even compete at those levels and do what you can to tweak and succeed. I don’t play those decks, but I am aware it’s a grind for them as well, and I delight being able to bring something that can counter most of those decks with a WR around %50.
ive been playing a few varieties of MC secret Paladin for months now just to get the Yogg achievement (prepared to accept it’s never gonna happen before rotation) I haven’t run into another MC Paladin yet, and if I mulligan, draw, and think out my plays I can put up a good fight and it feels great when I win—I know it was my own tweaking and bringing something they couldn’t anticipate that did it. When I lose it’s easy to accept, they were playing the deck that everyone else has already proven could work and they didn’t put much work into it.

I guess what I am saying is you can get frustrated with this or keep being you and accept the challenge to do it even better

I can’t decide whether to buy in or not. I’m not preordering, I don’t really want the tavern pass but I am getting some fomo about it, but then $20 and all you get is an extra pack on top the diamond

posted a message on New Priest Legendary Card Revealed - Serena Bloodfeather

The other cool thing with it is that you’re able to use the take control of 2 attack or less cards (as long as you’re using Serena on a minion with 5 attack or less) so with an extra card or two she is like both Nameless One and Argent Braggart
