Dude why you don't simply play face hunter? if you face 9 mages out of 10 those are 9 free wins.

This is not how a lot of players think.

It's how most Mage players think, and judging by the recent statistics on this issue, it's also the majority of the playerbase.

I don't want to be forced into an archetype just to win. It's a casual game,

If you want a casual game, use the casual game mode. If you want to win in ranked mode, you have to follow the meta and play to its strengths, whether you happen to like the required playstyle or deck etc or not. That's the standard for every competitive game everywhere. Adapt or lose. The choice is yours. You can't expect to play Johnny Homebrew and win every game because you had a fun, greedy deck that didn't take into consideration the rest of the current metagame.

It's harsh - and I can't say I enjoy playing against mage right now either; I've always considered Mage to be a joke class, and now more than ever - but the fact is that if you want to win right now then you either join the meta or make a meta-breaker. It's been that way forever, right back to my good old Magic the Gathering days 30-odd years ago.

posted a message on Control lock is the most brain dead busted control deck ever

Warlock removal and disruption is the whole point of the archetype and is supposed to be like that.
Seriously, if your deck can't win if it loses one or two key cards then the problem is your deck, not the opponent.

There's an old proverb about eggs and baskets that applies quite nicely here...

posted a message on Has Blizzard lost control of your card collection?
    Quote from Keema >>

The reason Blizzard are making the artificial distinction is they don't want to give players cards, they want to loan them for the season (and remove them later). I.e. because they are greedy.

This whole "Blizzard are so greedy" shtick is becoming very overdone. What is being described is not even "greed". It's entitlement (again).
    For example:

Entitled guy : Hey that's a nice car! Wish I had one like that.
Other guy : Oh, well here's the keys. You can borrow it for a bit.
Entitled guy : You mean it's mine to keep, right?
Other guy : No, I'm lending it to you so you can use it. I can't just give it to you for free.
Entitled guy : Ehrmegherd! You is liek, so grEeDy!

Working as intended. The matchmaking algorithm looks at what cards you have in your deck and wont pair you against what you teched for.

The system is designed to keep you at 50% winrate, so you probably wont see any secret mages if you have anti secret tech cards in your deck.

But if the system is designed to keep everyone at a 50% winrate... Shouldn't OP be paired with Secret Mages 50% of the time? And shouldn't the algorithm be pairing rampant Secret Mages with OP in order to keep their winrates at 50% too? 🤔🤔🤔

OP has a winrate of 3%. If the matchmaking algorithm is trying to keep their winrate at 50%, it's doing a pretty shitty job. That, or the whole "mAtcHmaKinG iS rigGeD" schtick is nonsense.

it's almost like the whole "There's a conspiracy against players that the system is trying to matchmake you to make sure you only get 50% win rate" is absolute baloney...
Hmmm..... but surely that can't be right. All my anecdotal evidence of the last 10 games where I randomly got bad matchups proves otherwise...

posted a message on What is your biggest regret in Hearthstone to date?
    Quote from Dinomaniak >>

Believe it or not, there was a day when I actually took the game seriously.
Nobody knows the amount of brain cells I've lost due to anger that very day.

You're not wrong - there is something inherently strange in just how much of a red mist Hearthstone can seem to make descend upon you when you lose a game in seemingly huge unfariness of circumstances.
I've never known another game (or activity) like it to have a similar effect (on me, at least).

In fact on that note, I'll add a 4 to my earlier list.
    4. Allowing Hearthstone to rule my emotions when I've lost a game badly and then been in a foul mood to those around me directly afterwards. They certainly didn't deserve that! ;-(

posted a message on Why is Antonidas leaving Standard? And Frostbolt?
    Quote from Nightlife >>

Tony is the FIRST Golden card I ever made.  Also he has the best card art.  And a unique, highly useful effect.  He's not even in the meta now. :(

And Frostbolt? Well, and Pyroblast? All iconic Mage spells.  Pyro wasn't used too much but still...

You’re right on all counts, but everything has its time and the rotating core set means we will likely see them return in the future.
They may be iconic Mage spells and cards but Hearthstone is a game that needs to progress and in that way gameplay takes precedence over theme.

Meh! This card will do nothing to address roping - if you are likely to rope, you just won't include this card in your deck. Job done.
