Unreal89 posted a message on Blizzard just cant resist the infinite value decks?Posted in: Standard FormatI agree that "infinite value" mechanics are unhealthy for the game overall. In such environment, usual "fair" control decks just can't exist.
Example - current Control Warrior vs. Control Shaman. Control Shaman just can't compete (or needs some luck to win). Control Warrior can produce infinite threats + removal (mainly from Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - Hero card). Other control decks (classes) just don't have enough tools at all.
Yes, Control Warrior doesn't dominate the meta. But that is mostly because they don't have tools to deal with multiple mid-sized minions. And thank god for that. That is a serious threat for the future in current Standard rotation. Developers have to pay a very close attention to Warrior, otherwise we will have repeat from Jade Druid domination. Because Control Warrior is already very good against most aggro decks (Token Druid, Murloc Shaman, Zoo Warlock).
Side effect is that as the time goes, if Control Warrior gets stronger, there will be more Combo and/or OTK decks in the meta. Remember previous Standard rotation? Yep, there were sooo many Combo/OTK decks that I can't even count them all now. Currently we have maybe only Conjurer Mage and Shirvallah OTK. Looking at recent Blizzard releases, we can expect more late-game tools... so we can be worried for sure.
There is no way Blizzard will turn back from creating more Combo/OTK decks in the future (I think)... but they can at least create some counter cards. Traditional Control decks are in a bad spot today for sure (by "Traditional Control" I mean Control decks without infinite Value and/or infinite Removal).

tcipps posted a message on Why doesnt blizz update this game?Posted in: General DiscussionNot talking about current meta or balance, things like interface, achievements, rewards new things to do and look forward to. Only thing they've done is introduce tavern brawl and more deck slots.
The smallest stuff like in card collection why do I need gold and non gold cards to appear in 2 different spots. I have a few pages where it's 4 cards shown instead of 8 cause gold takes 2 spots on the page.
This is just an example but tons of small little changes are way over due IMO.

HellOnslaught posted a message on Hearthstone Balance Changes Incoming - Information Coming Next WeekPosted in: NewsBREAKING NEWS!!!
I just hacked the Blizzard's server and got a small glimpse of the next changes! Enjoy!
Wild
Aviana from 5/5 -> 3/3
Develop insights: Dragoncaller Alanna and Aviana have similar name, art and cost; so it felt natural to do the same for her stats. We are going to keep Blade of C'Thun in our sights to make sure it won't become too opressive.
Kun the Forgotten King -> no longer has the option to choose from 10 armor
Develop insights: Hosting long games in our servers that last over 5 mins has proven to be too expensive for our small indie company. Also, when asked "When/where do you play heartstone the most?" the most voted answer was: "while taking a dump". So in order to better serve our customers, we need to ajust the metagame to align with the average "dumping time". Getting extra 10 armor on turn 10 onwards cleary goes against it.
Juicy Psychmelon -> Juicy Wild Players Tears
Develop insights: After many many many MANY weeks of carefull consideration on the wild meta subject, we came to the following conclusion: Juicy Psychmelon is the most balanced card in the history of hearthstone.
It has a winrate of EXACTLY 50.00%. Half of the time the card wins and the other half it loses to another Druid. We are very proud of this achievement! Since a lot of players are still unhappy because it "feels bad" to lose half of the time to it, we decided a change was necessary, so we changed the card's name to make sure our costumers know how much we care about them and their opinions. Now, a final word from our new president: Allen Brac!

user-100034578 posted a message on Historically, Which Class has Been the Worst?Posted in: General DiscussionI've been playing Hearthstone since closed beta and will try to summarize my experience with all the classes, mentioning the best decks for them through the years (if i forget a deck dont roast me, i'm writing this down from memory).
1. Druid: Druid has historically been one of the top tier classes and has been relevant for most metagames. The ramp package of wild growth and nourish in the classic set plus the occasional broken cards printed for him have made druid one of the strongest, if not THE strongest class in hs history.
2. Hunter: The class was very relevant throughout the classic set and naxxramas, before the undertaker nerf. It was really powerful back then, but after that hunter was getting the short end of the stick constantly. A few decks have made it to tier 2 in the next couple of years ( call of the wild midrange hunter, barnes spell hunter and now egg hunter and secret hunter) but for a long time the class was a joke. One of the strong contenders for the weakest class in my mind.
3. Mage: This is a weird one. This class, apart from 8 mana Pyroblast shenanigans and freeze mage in closed beta has been mostly mediocre. There's no broken mage deck that comes to mind in recent metas. A few solid mage decks I can remember are Casino mage back in the shamanstone era, tempo mage before witchwood and guenther mage. All in all this is a class that most ppl dont complain about but neither say its weak. I'd say it's been mediocre overall.
4. Paladin: I would characterize this class as mediocre/bad with the occasional broken deck. Secret pala reigned upon us for a long time, Even paladin was a surprise deck that had to be nerfed, murloc pala was tier 1 and Odd pala has been a solid tier 2 deck (pls, pls dont look only at the hsreplay stats that have it as the no1 deck for about 6 months now). Back in the days of classic set and naxx paladin was kind of a joke class, rarely seen and only in control forms. But this changed so I'd say this class is on the mid table and not really a contender for the weakest class (or the strongest).
5. Priest: This was the first class that came to mind when thinking about the weakest, the joke class. For a long, long time priest was laughed upon by everyone, it didnt even have a tier 2 deck. The first good priest deck that I remember is a midrange-control priest created by Kibler that had solid matchups (I piloted the deck to legend back then, maybe my favorite deck of all time) in the combo druidstone era (when druid was nerfed to the ground). After that priest was pissed upon as a class for months, maybe even years until Knights arrived. After that we had 2 or maybe even 3 solid tier 1 priest decks, one of them (Razakus) was so oppressive that everyone in high legend played it and it was dictating the meta so much that it had to be nerfed. This deck is one of the top decks of all time to me. After that, priest has mediocre combo and control decks in the lower tiers, slowly crawling back to its hole. The second strong contended for the weakest class.
6. Rogue: Rogue had good decks, tier 1 and 2 decks through the years and rotations. Miracle rogue, aggro rogue decks with pirates, quest rogue, keleseth rogue, odd rogue are all strong meta defining decks. There have been metagames where rogue was totally bad, but mostly it has had its day in the sun and is seen as one of the strongest classes throughout Hearthstone history.
7. Shaman: Apart from the shamanstone era, shaman too was one of the forgotten children of blizzard. But since shamanstone lasted for a year, a year that shaman was by far the no1 class with old aggro shaman, midrange shaman and then aggro pirate shaman, and the memories of playing vs shaman 9 times out of 10 are still strong to me, I cannot put this as the weakest class. Priest and Hunter had similar meta defining decks but for shorter periods. Plus shaman had shudderwock as a tier 1 deck that may possibly return to tier 1 in the following metagames (sits strongly at tier 2 and as a solid option for a tournament lineup). So yes, this has been a really weak class overall but not as weak as others.
8. Warlock: Who in their right mind would consider Warlock as a weak class, right? Zoo has been around forever with a break of a year, Renolock, handlock, evenlock, demonlock, cubelock... This is a class with tons of tier 1 and broken decks. another contender for the strongest class.
9. Warrior: Last but not least, Warrior. A few notable warrior decks are patron warrior, pirate warrior, tempo warrior and a lot of different control warrior versions. All in all not the strongest class but definitely not the weakest either. Patron and pirate dominated for months, tempo was one of the best decks of its meta and control was and is solid in a lot of forms and shapes (Nzoth, Cthun, Odd etc).
If you read this you can see that I'm trying to make a decision between Hunter and Priest. I'm still not decided, so I'm putting these 2 together as the weakest classes of Hearthstone history overall!
