I just don't Emote at all and immediately squelch my opponent, since I don't really give a damn about anything that he has to say.
No Emotes = No Problem ;)

I follow this line as well when I'm not in a good mood. I squelch and then greet. When I'm in a hurry and just wanna play fast I just greet if they do and squelch after that. Sometimes I just don't wanna talk... :)

Maybe if there was a chat in game my behavior could be different.

If there was a chat in game it would be more abused than the emote system (the way I see it). If people have the guts to add you up just to say you were lucky, or you're just rich and that's the reason you won or you cheated a chat in-game would probably more disastrous... but then again you can have the option to disable chat permanently in the options menu.

But I  disagree with an in-game chat mechanic (with those not in your friend list). It could be to BM and to insult if you lose and even if you use it for the good (let's say Congratulate your opponent for winning or say to him it was a good match if he lost... it could be taken in another way). Besides, the way me and my friends join Magic The Gathering tournaments, opponents rarely talk to each other except when it's to explain their move or point out an error (since MTG is a lot more complicated) but hardly does anyone talk about anything else. In Hearthstone, you're protected by the confines of the Internet. If you swear at someone, he won't know who you are.

There are times when I add people to my friends list (even if I lose or win) to say it was a tight match and could have gone either way. I would then offer for a rematch and we would see who would win in a best of 3 series.

TL:DR - For me, an in-game chat is a bad idea. If you would want to talk with someone add them to your Friends list.

Emotes could also be used for bluffing. Faced someone in the ladder once using my Mage Deck and he whittled me down to 2 HP (haven't pulled my Ice Block out of the deck and I had just done enough damage to win by next turn (had a Pyroblast in hand.

My opponent, using a Druid, whom I reduced to 5 HP and had no hand left drew his card. Then, he used his hero power to reduce me to 1 HP and started spamming emotes such as "Well Played" x 5 and "Thank you" x 5 until the timer whittled down to zero. When my turn came, he conceded.

Had I not been talking to my brother at that time (and explaining to him what Hearthstone is) I would've conceded with his "mind-games" into thinking he had lethal (perhaps he did... perhaps he didn't who knows?). But again shows how you can "try" to use emotes to bluff yourself into a win. Some might have bought it, but at least (thankfully) I didn't.

What cards do you think have the best flavor text?

A favorite of mine would be Avenging Wrath... you can almost hear the flavor text once you play it. LoL!

like I said, they could be botting but it doesn't do anything, you can't really win with a bot, the game is too intricate.

true enough otherwise he wouldn't have played UTH (twice) without my side of the field having no minions...

    I wish I could've screen capped it though :|

If you Alt Tab out of a game, the mouse still hovers over cards in the game. For example, if your in the Main Menu, you alt tab out and move you mouse, you can still hear the sound of the buttons. I think they are just doing other stuff while it's your turn, and they hope they concede.

Yes but I kind of find it weird that there is a pattern of highlighting the cards. His portrait, his power, his left-most minion to right-most minion, my left-most minion to right-most minion, my portrait, my hero power... repeat and that's for all the turns throughout the game. I don't think that bots would be used for ladder though, but I've encountered such highlightings and waiting in casual (for all four instances).

I've seen in youtube that you can program a simple macro (for your mouse movements/clicks) to play repeatedly.

Idk because one such instance was a hunter (taking a full 90 minute to do his turn) and playing UTH when there are no minions on my side... twice... Idk perhaps it would be a misplay...

It was a Casual game (for all four instances).

Either way, it's just kind of frustrating really if some are just doing that to waste 90 seconds just so they would try to let you concede (due to the fact that it would be a loooooooong game).

I faced some players, who ALWAYS takes a minute to finish their turn (even if they're not dropping anything on turn 1 or turn 2) and I noticed that he/she always hovers his mouse (you can see by the highlight) on EVERY card, his portrait, his hero power, my hero power, all of the minions on the board. I noticed that they would do this everytime. Bottomline, I just want to know if some (I'm not saying all) of these players are using a bot program of sorts?

    TLDR: Are there bots?

    Quote from flexr »

My suggestion for you. Play Zoo deck to understand its strength and weakness. Ever since I play Zoo exclusively last season, I rarely lose to Zoo with other decks anymore. I knew what they are up to and play along accordingly. Btw haven't seen many Zoo around that much that's worth the complaint.

At high rank, Zoo has really tough times against Miracle and Ramp Druid. You need to play extremely carefully or risk losing the game so saying it's a brain dead deck is not true.

I might try this out actually... it gives you experience to try things out :)

On topic, it's true that I get irritated at Zoolocks (and also mention Miracle Rogues). But then again I started to notice that I start a losing streak when I'm hotheaded going into a game lol! Bottomline for me would be: learn Miracle, learn Zoo... and at the end of the day, win or lose as long as you're having fun... the game has served its purpose. :P

Chain Heal should probably be 3 mana (it's like a "good" version of Lightning Storm). For wounded orc... Battlecry triggers when it is summoned...

If wounded Orc were silenced it doesn't gain back the HP it lost. Wounded orc is probably a weaker version of Gurubashi Berserker).

posted a message on Will Reincarnation be the Shaman's Shadowstep?

I guess since their only draw mechanic (exclusive to them) would be Mana Tide Totem

But they do have a number of low cost spells that could trigger Gadgetzan Auctioneer quite a number of times

    Makes this combo possible:
Leeroy Jenkins + Rockbiter Weapon x 2 + Windfury + Reincarnate (Leeroy Jenkins)

    (6 + 3 + 3) = 12 * 2 = 24 + 6 [assuming he can attack after Reincarnating]

Saurfang has too much health for the cost of 7... I would probably compare it to a Goblin Rocketeer who just for one more mana... has 6 more health and a good ability... I'd probably lower the health or add up one mana for its cost... (or probably not considering it's a legendary...)

posted a message on Leeroy, Ysera or Rag?

Thank you for the replies. It really helps! Thing is, now at 2400 dust, I want to see if I'd snag any legendary first when I hit 3,200 (not far... in a week or so maybe). But ever since I've gotten 1,600 dust I have wanted to craft Leeroy Jenkins.

    Quote from johnnyg07 »

When I first started playing, I opened up my first few packs. I was very fortunate to get Leeroy Jenkins on my 3 pack ever opened. I would ask what your plans are. Are you high ranked, low ranked, and where in the ladder are you climbing. As stated before Leeroy Jenkins is probably one of the most versatile cards in game and is a staple finisher in a lot of decks in the meta right now. Ragnaros the Firelord is also a very good card to have as a finishers/win conditions depending on the type of deck you play. Ysera seems like the odd man out of this list. Not that it isn't a good card, but if you are in the higher ranks climbing the ladder around rank 5 and below, then she might be worth crafting. So in my opinion I would craft Leeroy, Rag, then Ysera in that order.

As far as ranking is concerned. My best rank in the ladder was 13 (for May). I haven't played much ladder for June because I've been playing Casual trying to rack up some gold and (finally) completed all rares and commons. I'm probably going back to ladder this July since I have more options now when it comes to card choice.

On a side note, would you guys recommend that I DE'd two Shadowforms to get to 3,200 dust sooner or should I be patient and just wait? Thanks!

posted a message on [Deck Building] Cenarius or a neutral?

Well I play as druid at times but tbh I'm a jack-of-all trades (meaning I am fairly balanced when it comes to playing classes) so I'd be biased in crafting a neutral legendary.

To answer your question, I think that the epics would be better than Cenarius. The way I see it (and read from other posts), Cenarius is a 9-cost 5/8 body that has a power to buff your minions equivalent to two Power of the Wilds (which is too situational since you would want to use it when you have a good board) or a power that can summon two minions equivalent to two Frostwolf Grunts. Cenarius is a good card but it is too specific of a situation for you to get full value from it.

On the other hand, ancient of lore's ability to give you 5 health or 2 cards (especially late game) is valuable, plus being a 7-cost card means that you would be able to use it earlier or you would have 3-mana left after using it...

Keeper of the grove is also a good card. The silence mechanic being a very good one (to use on an opponent or your Ancient Watcher or just to deal that 2 damage that you need to finish off a minion.

For me I'd choose the epics first before Cenarius... but I think the expert Druids would know more. These are just my opinions. :)

posted a message on Calling out MTG and Hearthstone Players

Just a little (in a way) forum discussion of sorts. What if suddenly the heroes of Hearthstone enter the realm of Magic the Gathering as Planeswalkers, what would be their abilities (you have to include their hero power as an ability)? How much would they cost? What colors would they represent? Post your ideas below :).
