How is that any different- the top card is literally any random card in their deck. "random card from the deck" and the card from the top of their deck are the same text mechanically

posted a message on Card draw in tcg

It is perfectly fair and the win is "deserved" if you rip direct damage off of a top deck. You put the answer in your deck for a reason. If you lose to Pirate Warrior unless you draw your 1 gollaka crawler on turn 2, muligan your hand for it and draw it on turn to to answer, that is a skill based decision based in probability.

Draw mechanics in general are resource management. Decks are built (often unknowingly) around percent chances to have a good playable card the turn you'd want to play it. Typically midrange decks have a downward sloping curve for this reason- consistency in the early game is more important because you have less chances to find it.

Other genres of games don't have this problem. Games like Monopoly or Chess, for example, are clear about what you have and what you are able to do. You opponents understand exactly what options are at your disposal when they make their moves. I'd argue that Chess isn't as fun as Hearthstone (or TCGs in general) because randomness is exciting, and drawing cards (or collecting unknown resources in general) can be fun.

Randomness, when done in moderation, adds excitement and cool moments to games. An example as well known as poker shows this- when two queens are out and a third flips while somebody is holding a queen, that is a really rare and exciting moment for the player and the audience.

TLDR: It is absolutely fair to win off of top decks (including ones some people have called "disgusting"). You build the deck knowing the percent chances of victory, and taking outs that lead to victory have a set statistical chance of winning you the game even when mistakes are made.

posted a message on why are you switching to wild?

I actually play wild for Hobgoblin, KT and other niche fun build around cards that have only gotten better with the new sets. Can't wait for the new expansion, the new 1/2 elemental that adds a 1/2 is real good in hobo

posted a message on Group therapy! Need to blow off steam? Mega salty? Here is the place!

I am so sick of this state of the meta. No matter what you are running, you instantly lose the game on a bad draw versus pirate warriors (including pirate warriors). I've been playing this game since beta- Who Goes Thar bullshit mixed with a deck of 28 strong direct damage tools brings back the horrors of Undertaker meta when the game was decided by turn 2. If you were under 20 HP turn 2, you had an obsurd chance to lose the game, and this happened ONLY when your opponent got an insane opening of overpowered 1 drops. Nobody really hates Drakonid Operative, nobody rages at Rag this hard and rags been around forever. Combo might be cancer but at least there are answers and counterplay to that style of deck- why blizzard KEEPS PUMPING OUT GARBAGE OVERSTATTED ONE DROPS is beyond me. Its complete shit game design. The RNG has been moved from card text to draw- if you get the nuts (which is getting easier and easier with the sheer number of insane 1 drops) you just win.

Its garbage. One drops that have strong stat lines or easily obtainable conditions (undertaker, tunnel trogg, mana wyrm, who goes thar, flame imp) have always been the most frustrating cards in the game because when you draw it, you shit on your opponents , and when you dont, your entire deck becomes SUBSTANTIALLY worse (tempo mage, undertaker decks pre nerf, face/aggro shaman). Well designed 1drops should fill the niche roles abusive, babbling (yes, even with radical text rng) and young priestess fill- the cards stats dont hold its value, the effect does. Even cards like chow/mistress are better designed because at least they have a notable drawback that significantly hinders their usability.

    Stupid. Frustrating. Overstatted. One drops.

I'd go with Leeroy all the way. Building up your classic collection is always good, and Leeroy has always been in and will be in combo/aggro lists.

During Reynad's reveal, at 49 seconds theres an image above the revealed card "Stolen Goods" called "Grimestreet Smuggler", a Goons 2/4 for 3, battlecry: Give a random minion in your hand +1/+1. Anyone else notice? Is this an official?

I'd actually argue this card isn't too bad to get with Neptulon simply because it can hit the board the same turn for whatever value that may bring. On 7 dropping Neptulon and 4 1/1s is actually pretty scary

I mean it has more synergies with deathrattle, which has some value. Not a lot, but some. Reusable effect in shaman, feign death in hunter, undertaker + beast tag, all of which I would say make it higher value than flame juggler. It fits a bunch of niche deck themes that have weakish 2 drops, minus beast hunter. Maybe an all out deathrattle beast hunter would run this, or a midrangy deathrattle shaman

In the 6 drop slot for most decks right now we have Slyvannus, who is occasionally bad to play with the same stats. I think this card in a more tempo oriented deck that wants to hold onto the board could have a place. It fuels your hand with something, and that something is coming from paladin which has some awesome control/tempo cards (lots of weapons, tempo/control spells, fat creatures)  and often the worst case scenario is you get a 5/5 for 6 with a card you never play. This VS Slyv, if you are dead next turn anyway, I'd rather have this 6 drop. There is a fair chance you will draw healing that you can play with it or tempo you can play with it

The idea for double lightbomb is its more consistent at large threat removal in bulk. It can be greedier and takes a little more thought to play, granted, but in general past turn 4 often times you'd rather have a lightbomb if you are behind as opposed to nova. On top of that, having 2 copies for large target removal can double as hard removal for big threats allowing you to only need one death as opposed to 2. Saves deck space, where as when you run 2 novas you need to run 2 deaths because you NEED to draw into hard removal for Boom and other big threats. Plus when your early game is as strong as dragon priest's is nova is sort of overkill.

Is it really an OTK though? You need a minion to stick on the board because nothing in this deck can charge unlike the Warlock or Miracle OTK. You can't double divine spirit inner fire something you also played that turn. Easy solutions against this deck- hard removal/tempo advantage/midrange decks in general? Now tempo is just even more important into dragon priest haha. Great list though, love the insight of double Lightbomb 1 Nova Death
