Boss Overview
Prince Malchezaar is the first boss in the The Prologue wing of the One Night in Karazhan adventure. He is the only boss in this wing and is unlocked immediately with the release of the adventure for free to all players. You will play as Medivh with a preset deck.
Pro Tips and Strategy
- A crazy 60 Health and 60 Armor on Heroic!
- Malchezaar's deck on Heroic contains 60 cards, good luck exhausting him, simply using Archmage's Apprentice to push spells back in won't cut it.
- Astral Portal on turn 1 can give you some pretty crazy stuff. Try using the mulligan phase to get it.
- Arcane Power and Arcane Explosion is amazing board clear and probably needed early on.
- Your hero power is super important as it draws 3 cards for only 2 mana. Use it as much as possible.

He means the younger, un-possessed Medivh that is seen during the prologue and promotional material, not the old, evil Medivh available for purchase.
Well, that crazy spell for summoning random legendary only brought me: Zerus(1/1), Sir Finley(1/3), Mimiron's Head (4/5)... Awesome stuff. I bet everybody get from it at least Rag or smth like...
Heroic boss is quite easy: Video
A buddy of mine just got the Archmage Antonidas as a random legendary out of the 1 mana spell and than it is even more simple to win the game. Using the "all spells cost 0 mana this turn" spell will give you infinite amount of fireballs then lol :)
Same story: Antonidas + all spells for 0 = GGWP Heroic Malchezaar.
Just beat him on normal as well as heroic.
The key card, surprisingly, is the one of the few if not the only minion in your deck - Medivh's apprentice. Careful management of this minion is what ensures the player survives, as it essentially prevents you from fatiguing if used correctly. Malch will surely outlast you in normal circumstances given his larger deck and 60 armor and 60 lifepool in heroic, while you are stuck with the standard 30 life, no armor.
By making sure the apprentice survives with careful usage of the second most important card, the (0) cost spells for 3 mana, as well as the super-innervate, one should be able to control the board long enough to amass either a sticky board through the christmas tree secret spell and legendary creator or create a large enough hand of insane burst, while at the same time refueling the deck with the apprentice. Repeat this process till Malch is no more.
Essentially, the deck is control mage to the extreme. The hero power functions as a reliable draw engine, however you must carefully manage your hand in order to prevent burning your apprentices or other key spells.
Really enjoyable, great design. What a great start to this expansion.
Mulligan for the sheep that makes all spells 0 mana and go to town. if your opening hand has this plus the spell that gives you 5 mage secrets its an easy win.
Well, it is known that his hero power is basically Jarraxxus. He summons a 6/6. this will be interesting.
