We deployed an update to the website this morning focusing on Tavern Brawls and a brand new front-page deck widget. Details can be found below!
Please feel free to use this thread to report any issues you encounter with the update and for any feedback you would like to share. Thanks!
Deck Widget Update
We have made behind the scenes and front-end modifications to the front page deck widget to improve homepage load times. There was too much data being loaded in and we saw significant slow downs on some devices because of it.
The new deck widget loads information in through AJAX rather than everything being in the default markup and simply hidden, making the homepage much leaner. We hope you enjoy it!
Adventures Widget
Naxxramas has joined in the fun on the front-page! If you're looking for decks for the Naxx Heroic bosses, you can now sort through them just like BRM. We've also changed the adventures part of the widget so that it can now be sorted by class.
We've moved some Naxxramas boss decks over to the Adventure Deck tagging system, but not all. If you've got Naxxramas decks, feel free to edit them to change their deck type to "PvE Adventure" and then select the corresponding Naxxramas boss. It will help people find them easier on the site!
Brawls Widget
The newest addition to the top decks widget is a dedicated area for Brawls info! This is the default view of the adventures portion of the widget, so you won't be seeing any Blackrock Mountain decks anymore unless you sort by them. Check out an overview of the widget:
Contains countdowns for upcoming brawls when there is no active brawl.
Will show top brawl decks during an active brawl where you can create your own decks.
You will be able to save your decks in the deck builder via the Tavern Brawl deck type and by choosing the brawl it is meant to be used for.
Custom content will be displayed for weeks which have premade decks, like this week. This custom content will vary depending on what is going on during the brawl week. Since this week's decks are build a very specific way, we've linked to a thread on the tavern brawl forums for discussion and explained the deck rule. For weeks like the Rag vs Nef fight, we may opt to link directly to the two premade decks and a discussion post.
Remember to flag your Tavern Brawl decks using our Tavern Brawl deck type on the deck builder, and be sure to also select the Brawl it is used for so people can filter for it.
We're targeting the issue where users are creating decks and asking the community to vote the decks up in order for them to create a guide. We don't mind that people would like to be rewarded for their efforts in guide creation, but we don't want to see every single deck to be filled with empty promises.
There have been several occasions where a deck will sit on the front page for a week with a user asking it to be upvoted in order for a guide to be created, to then never return and create the guide. Not cool.
Going forward, all decks which ask users to upvote them must have some form of written content on them which can help others use the deck.
This content does not to be a full guide for the deck, but it should be a preview of what people can expect from the full guide you are planning on writing.
Those breaking this rule will have their decks set to unlisted, their request for votes removed from the deck description, and will be notified via private message they need to make changes. Failure to make changes and putting the message back will result in possible deletion of the deck, and warning points.
Known Issues
FIXED Unable to right click to open deck links in new windows, tabs on front page widget. This includes middle mouse button as well. [HRTH-294]
Besides the right click + open for decks on the front page that is not working.
The new "feature" on the deck page doesn't seem to be nice. I have to roll a huge amount of text (when the deck has a big guide) in order to see the cards. This div or iframe stuff is very annoying. I want to see the deck first, and maybe, MAYBE, the explanation of it.
That's my only point. For the rest, nice job, keep the good work!
