People in general are often overly sensitive, irrational, unreasonable, inconsiderate, arrogant, and spiteful. The environment and interaction that the internet provides tends to exacerbate these traits.
This. Most of us (if not all) are naturally evil (although there are diferent "levels") and the internet allows us to do things without beign "punished" in the same way as in real life. Anyone that denies it is a big liar, and problably a very big bastard.
There is very little RL consequences to being a douche on the internet. In reality if people acted the way they do online, well lets just say there is nothing nice that would come from that. The question is do we accept it? Do we become complaisant. "Well nothing I can say or do can change it so Im going to do nothing." Im not a huge fan of SJW's at all but I can understand some of their beefs. In reality we see some one getting picked on and bullied we step in, well some of us do. We do it cause we empathize with the person and would hate for that to be us. Why is it that this suddenly dissolves the moment we transition to the digital. Does the lack of consequence for ones actions suddenly removes the empathy from others to take action, or is it something far more sad?
I don't have the real answer, but you can't deny that beign an evil asshole on the internet is sometimes very funny :)
Oh im guilty as charged on that account however doesnt make it right. As I have gotten older I have realized that fun and game today can be a nightmare tomorrow. Plus do you really want to be that guy? I mean I feel ashamed for some of the shit I have done.
Well, yeah, I'm not proud of it, but there are a lot of things worse in real life than that, so it's not a very big deal.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
If a deck is stupid shit like most of the the ones that reach the front page I would likely comment hey your deck is shit and your 85% winrate is a lie. People react negatively to insulting posts like "hey your deck is shit" but react positively to comments asking for WR or rank proof. So when that happens it's clear that people are white knights. Even though "Hey this deck is shit" and "There is no way you have a 85% Winrate" say the same thing one gets downvoted more.
I was a very good PvP Destiny player (top 50) and i used reddit a lot because it was the only destiny forum. and people there were so crazy like I would say "man that is a bad gun you should get this one" and it would be downvoted to depths of the hellmouth. If hearthpwn turns into that type of site where it looks all happy and everyone is nice it will for sure lose the last bit of competitive discussion it has and lose me as a poster as well.
I think that hating one person because they are bad or wrong is very immature. But disliking a person because they;
Post decks that suck and then lie Have a troll avatar, username, sig and continue to act troll like Are bad and incorrectly give advice Use clickbait titles rarely contributes to discussions (LOL PogChamp Kappa 4head posts) list goes on
Is completely acceptable. By dislike I don't mean show your opinion on a person by downvoting because of Bias or contradicting them because you don't like them.
Good to see you posting again Chiv and center you fucking sig I swear <3

I never said anything about people being naturally evil. Nor do I believe that's at all valid, though I suppose that depends on the definition of evil, and what truly qualifies as human nature, but that's a whole other philosophical tangent.
My more central point was people tend to lack self-awareness, or self-knowledge if you prefer--it's much easier for people to be critical of others than it is for them to be critical of themselves, especially where a difference of opinion exists. And people are emotional, which tends to conflict with rationality. Moreover, its much more difficult for people in general to empathize with other people they aren't familiar with, and don't have direct contact with. Other people on the internet are something of an abstraction to many people, and so they aren't generally afforded the same respect or consideration these same people might afford those in their daily lives. As a result, opinions, positions, commentary, and discussions can often be full of flippant disrespect and disregard, especially in communities like this where the subject matter isn't relatively regarded as something of great importance that demands and expects a certain level of intellectual maturity. In addition, given the limitations of communication through written text, many may also read offense or insult (tone) into something where none is meant, and become defensive in response.

Yes well seeing as when I post people get upset and well as you can see by lack of flair action was taken. i would advice you tread lightly. You know how this site has devolved and speaking your mind can create issue, and well order has to be maintained. Im cool with it. Fact is I dont care for titles on this site. I have a job where I get paid to work in hearthstone.
Sadly I have seen this site and even how I view it devolve. I once use to come here every few hours reading the post, ,reviewing the decks testing them, making videos. Yet the amount of utter toxicity I see sickens me. Thus no videos. When I see something being done about it by more then concerns members of the community then I might reconsider. To date the only actions I have seen is admonishment for those who point out the problems. Seems some dont want these things talked about. Makes sense in a way as it could cause more trouble. Though you have to ask a question. If it causes trouble to talk about a subject why have you been lax in dealing with the subject matter?
As for the sig its intentional. I am always to the left of the norm.
one is shedding doubt one an individuals win rate.. the other is claiming a deck is inferior in an inflamatory way.. sure all the same...
Both are saying your deck is inferior. One is inflammatory, yes, but my point was that one gets downvoted and one does not simply because one is inflammatory.

If people don't want to be attacked for their opinions, they need to write something that deserves a constructive response - in your example: "This deck isn't good or I'm not playing it right. Does someone mind adding and spectating me while I play it and tell me what I'm doing wrong?" is better than "This deck sucks". I'd never expect anyone to 'engage' a "this deck sucks" commenter - you're never going to engage that kind of person in a logical argument.
No I get that however is it right that people attack them? I mean the example yeah its a bad thing to post. Which ok Im guilty of. Though do you think this validates and or justifies people to attack them?
People on the internet are not looking to validate their behavior. Whether it's "ok" or not is defined by the space in which you are typing your message. Morally speaking? Far too subjective to make any hard calls. I try to be polite, I don't always succeed but I would like to think for the most part I do a good job, and that is what I would prefer to experience in return as well.

well isn't that fair ? you decided to comment in a way that was inflammatory.. not by adding anything to the debate.. the other opens it in a way by shedding doubt on the matter (ie i don't think this deck is good could give w/l rates proof or more data..) Shouldn't bad posts in that way get down votes where the others get up votes ?
You have a valid point in this, however again your missing the issue. Even post that are constructive are being assaulted because they found fault in the deck. Even when they provide a well written explanation, proof, and or insight to why they feel that way, it is getting downvoted and they are getting attacked. If it was just negative and inflammatory post no one would give a shit, but its not. Its anything that is not in favor of the deck. Its a lose lose to have an opinion on something on this site, and trying to stand by your opinion tends to be met with punishing results. Whats worse is your really on your own.

If someone posts a shit deck and it gets a high amount of upvotes people that suck will craft that deck and waste dust. On a competitive site people will say 'ur deck is shit m8' and no one will downvote it because its true. Thus preventing noobs from making bad decisions. Hearthpwn is very far from a competitive site but when a deck that is shit gets upvotes it should mean the deck is good, nope not on hearthpwn.

I am not sure I agree entirely with this. It really depends on the deck description right? If I post a bad deck and claim "OMG EASY LEGENDARY WINZORZXXXXXX" and I post a crap deck, then down votes SHOULD flow i n. If I post bad deck and say "This is my for funsies joust deck" then no it shouldn't be downvoted.

We would all like that. Yet our wishes and the reality of this site are 2 opposite things. Its sad that it has become complaisant to accept such things, because its the internet.

Perhaps you meant to infer that and I didn't get.
Good point.
Well yes, those fun decks wont get upvoted anyway. But those Eadric the Pure sex posts and face hunter guides that are go face for every card explanation should not get upvoted because people come to look for decks to play not to sift threw jokes and weird sex posts.
Also, there is a feature to hide decks from listing if you do not want to write a guide or anything. i think it needs to be used more often.

I have advocated for this for some time. When I was and architect I took a lot of time and effort in writing my guides and making sure people understood how to play the concept. So to see some one post guide for upvotes just sickened me. And yet when I pointed out what they were doing was wrong I was downvoted, harassed, one went so far as to send me a rather nasty email, even had mods tell me to stop crusading. There is no right and wrong on this site. Its about keeping the general order, this means the mob rules all....
Now I should be happy about all this. I know the logical outcome of this sort of environment tends to end with implosion and thus the end to that community and another bastion taking hold, however I have been apart of this site since before the game was live. To see it turn into this is sad, to have others try to leverage my silence and obedience to the mob well that is just tragic.
But I'm not "good" :)
it's not just hearthpwn, more like the internet in general.people somehow feel like being anonymous gives them the right to act like jerks.

The question is either one without merit.

no need to apologize. This is what as adults we are suppose to do, talk things out to create better understanding.

I so love that card
Oh Gosh, it's 'TheChiv'...
And I came here for a useful thread, silly me.

Proving my point.
I AM a rager!
